CHAPTER-19

ALEX’S POV, I had a perfect, peaceful sleep last night and a beautiful morning with her. It was a morning I could only imagine till now. But she doesn’t need to know, at least now. We had our breakfast and then she went to see the house. She didn’t go to another floor but stayed on the third floor only. Last night I mind-linked all my pack members that today would be an off day from morning training and not to enter the pack house premises as their luna is still unaware of us being werewolves. They did as they were told. Lily and Grover came for breakfast. Soon Ian and Rose joined them. They cooked their food and Grover made it for Lily. Emily went back to my room probably to freshen up and get ready to set out after breakfast. After some time, she joined them. It’s almost time for them to leave. And I don’t want her to go. But there was very little I could do to keep her here. “Let’s kidnap mate,” Lex said with a grin in my mind. He has been pleased since she came here and stayed in my bed. He is happy that the bed will smell like her now. “And then scare her, so that she can run. right?” I said annoyingly. Lex growled in my head imagining her running away. “Can’t let mate run away.” He said. After eating, they were packing things to leave. I wanted to spend more time with her to an idea came to my mind. I picked up my phone and held it to my ear, “What! The rain blocked the way? That’s unfortunate. Thanks for informing me.” Then I slid my phone back into my pocket. After hearing me speak, all of them looked at me for answers. Ian and Rose had a knowing look and a mischievous smile. I ignored them and said with a tense voice, “Last night it rained a lot, so the easy way to the main road is drowned and it’s not safe to drive.” “Oh no! What to do now? We need to go back.” Emily said. “If it’s not urgent you can stay for today. I am sure the roads will be cleared tomorrow.” “No, we have things to do today! But thanks for the offer. Is there any other way to go back?” Emily asked. “There’s one but I don’t think it’s safe for you to drive there. The roads are full of stones and you can easily lose control of your car.” I said with a worried expression. “But if you want, you can go with me. I have a dinner meeting so I will be going anyway. I will just leave a bit early with you.” I said. “But it won’t be safe to ride Lily’s car in that way. So we will take mine. But the problem is my back seat is filled with papers, only one person can ride with me.” I said wickedly smiling in my head. Like on cue, “I could take Lily with me. I need to go back too.” Grover said. Lily and Emily looked at each other, and had a silent discussion with eyes, then Emily said, “I guess thanks in advance!” with a smile. “What about my car?” Lily asked. “I’ll drive it back tomorrow. Don’t worry about it.” Grover replied. “Wait for a few minutes, we’ll be back.” Saying that we ran towards our rooms and I went in what I said was mine. I went to my room using that secret door and got ready. After a few minutes I joined them, I saw Emily and others talking and laughing with Ian and Rose. He is the gama of my pack, but he can be hilarious at times. “I am all ready, let’s go,” I said. “I am ready too,” Grover said right after me. “We are going to get our cars out. We’ll meet you at the front gate.” I said and we left. When I went to my car I spread all the papers I could find on the back seat to make it look like I was telling the truth about everyone using the same car. It’s a pitch-black, matte-finished car that would run perfectly on stony and mountain roads, with a hitch. Then I drove it out of my garage and went towards the main entrance of the pack house. Emily hugged Ian and Rose and said bye, she saw me waiting and came to me. “Sorry to keep you waiting…” Emily said. “Didn’t wait long,” I replied. She had her camping gear in her hands, so I got out of the driver's seat and placed her things in the trunk of my car. Then I opened the passenger seat door for her, she got in the car with a smile thanking me and I settled myself on the driving seat. I noticed she hadn’t fastened her seatbelt, I said, “Emily that road is a stony way in the the middle of the jungle. If you don’t want to fly away like a sparrow, you better fasten the seat belt.” I said jokingly. She pouted and said, “I know seat belt is important but I am not that small you know!” “Yup. Yes… Yeah. Now hurry. I can be with you in this car the whole day and I won’t complain. But you need to be somewhere. Right?” She started blushing, and a pout formed on her face and she pulled the seat belt. She was struggling to pull the belt so I unfastened mine and went over to her to help her with it. I went over to her and pulled the belt for her, it felt like we were hugging, so close to each other. Her breathing was falling in my ears and I could hear her heart beat like crazy, so crazy that it could jump out of her body any moment now. I was also no better than her. I could feel her breath on my ears, and it stirred me up well. It became hard to control myself. My heart started to beat fast, now I hope she hears my heartbeat and knows what she does to me. After fastening her seatbelt, I went back to my seat and opened the windows for some cold, fresh air. Although the air conditioner was on, it was still getting really hot in the car. Grover went ahead of us. I started the car, but there was silence between us, so I decided to play a song. The last time I rode in this car with my younger sister, she was playing her favorite singer's song. I started the song, it was “Love Story.” By Tylor Swift. When I played the song, she said happily “You like her too? It’s one of my favorite songs of hers.” “I don’t listen to songs, but this is Iris’s favorite singer,” I replied. When she heard Iris’s name from me, her face changed, maybe a bit uncomfortable… “Is she jealous Lex?” I asked my wolf. “I think so too,” Lex said jumping happily like a dog. Sometimes I think was he a dog in his last life? But again it’s valid for an alpha wolf to become a dog for his one and only mate. “Iris…?” Emily asked hesitantly. “She is my younger sister. She is out of the country at this moment to study. She left last month and will be back when it’s her semester break.” She said nothing but smiled. “What about your parents? I saw none of them at your home.” She asked. When she asked about my parents, my expression naturally changed. I said, "My mom passed away when I was 14, and my dad is currently recuperating. He fell ill after my mom's passing and had to hold on until I was old enough to take over the company. Once I took over, he went to recuperate." "Sorry, I didn't know and asked," she said, hurt evident in her eyes. She was hurting for... me? "It's okay, you didn't know so you asked," I said with a reassuring smile. The long journey was soon over, and we reached our apartment building. I helped her with her baggage to her apartment. She thanked me before entering her apartment, and I replied with a smile, "It is always a pleasure to help you."
