CHAPTER-18

EMILY'S POV, I woke up with a sudden shiver because of the cold. I looked out the window; the sun had just risen. Still, it was a cold morning after a night of rain. I looked around the room; it was a light lavender color with a bluish hue. The furniture was modern and designed to match the room's color scheme, giving it a vibrant look. The bed was huge, not the type you usually see. Everything seemed newly renovated. I can say I had one of the best sleeps here. I got out of bed and went to freshen up. Last night Alexander showed me where to find extra brush in the washroom. I found a toothbrush and brushed my teeth, then splashed water on my face; he kept all kinds of skin care products, soap, and shampoo here. Surprisingly, they are the regular brands that I use. A coincidence? Maybe. I washed my face with one of those. This room had a big balcony, spacious enough to walk around comfortably and enjoy the view. The balcony was decorated with a charming balcony swing draped in soft cushions, inviting me to curl up with a book or simply watch the sunrise. Along the railings, colorful pots overflowed with vibrant balcony flowers—petunias, marigolds, and tiny blue forget-me-nots—mixing with leafy green plants and a few trailing vines. The fresh scent of the greenery mingled with the crisp morning air. A lush artificial grass carpet covered the floor, making it feel cozy and natural underfoot, almost like a secret garden perched above the world below. There was even a small wrought-iron table with two chairs, perfect for sipping coffee or having quiet conversations. Doesn’t matter how I look it is too good to be a guest room. As I slid open the balcony, a fresh wind came in. I breathed in the fresh morning breeze; it felt like all my tiredness ran away. It's really better than the city morning air. I walked up to the balcony railing and saw a gym made of glass. Someone was working out. Couldn’t see who it was clearly, but could tell that the person had a perfectly proportioned body. His back was facing towards me. When he looked towards me, I saw it was Alexander. When our eyes met, he gave a big smile. Seeing him smile like that, my heart skipped a bit. I could feel blood flowing towards my cheeks, and I ran into the room. “Why am I feeling like this?!” A lot of time went by while blushing and thought. When I heard light noises from outside, I stepped out of my room. What I saw I surely will not forget for a long time. It was a real treat to the eyes. A handsome, hot guy was working in the kitchen. He moved around so smoothly while cooking. I walked to him. “Good morning, Alexander." "Good morning. Did you sleep well?" "Yes, I did." “Kind of slept a bit too well,” I said in my mind. "Do you need any help with cooking?" "Yes! I do need some help from you.” "Tell me," "I want you to call me Alex," he said with a smile, resting both hands on the counter and my head on them. For a moment it felt like I was lost in his eyes, and I think I even forgot to breathe. When I came back to earth from my imagination, I said, "Yeah, sure. Alex." His eyes lit up when he heard me call him Alex. His happiness could be seen in his eyes and face. "So, Alex, do you need help with anything?" "You can only help me by eating these. Just wait for these to be done." I couldn’t take my eyes off a working Alex. When they say they say the truth, a working man is the really good-looking one. “Would you like juice or coffee?” Alex asked, bringing me out of my thoughts. “I would love a cup of coffee, please,” I said with a smile. I knew I was blushing and all, also prayed that it wasn’t visible on my face. He gave me a plate of pancakes, scrambled eggs, and a perfect cup of coffee. “Here, enjoy.” “Thanks for the food.” I knew the coffee was perfect even before drinking it from its aroma. “What a perfect coffee.” A smile spread across Alex’s face. “Glad that you liked it.” Not so surprisingly, the pancake was yummy too. He sat down to eat with me. While eating, he said, “I sent someone to bring Lily’s car here. I took the keys from her and sent a guard to bring it here.” “You didn’t need to, but thanks for the help,” I replied with a shy smile. I still don’t know why I feel shy under his gaze. “I think there’s still some time before everyone wakes up. Why don’t I show you around the house after eating?” “Sure.” “There’s a room at the very right corner of this floor. That is my office. Though I don’t mind you entering, the place is in a mess right now. I don’t think you will like what you see. I’ll show you my office next time you visit.” “Next time I visit! Will there be a next time?” I thought to myself. “Okay,” I said with a smile. I tried to help with the cleaning after we ate, but Alex said a definite no. He said the cleaning lady would take care of that. Then took me for a tour of his massive house. I couldn’t see clearly how big his house is last night. But now that I see it’s like a fairytale castle. This floor is well decorated with light colors and modern furniture and is well organized. I thought Alex might like dark colors like those CEOs in the novels. But surprisingly, he likes colors that I would like in my house. I could never guess this. I saw a gaming room, a mini theater where we saw the movie last night, kitchen. There were only three rooms on this floor, excluding Alex’s office. The rooms are good, but I have to agree, the room I stayed in last night is the best when I compare. After I finished my tour, I saw Lili and Grover coming upstairs. “Morning, Emily,” Lily said with sleepy eyes and hugged me, almost falling asleep on me. “Good morning, sleepyhead. Wake up. Have breakfast. We need to go back.” I said, hugging her back with a laugh. “Oh, yeah, right. I forgot.” She said, rubbing her eyes. “Good morning, Emily. Did you sleep well last night?” Grover said with a suspicious smile. “Good morning, Grover. I did sleep well last night. Thanks for asking.” “Did you have breakfast yet, Emily?” Lily asked. “Yep, I just had. Go and eat now, or we will be late.” “Hmm…” Then Grover led her to the kitchen, and I went back to the room I was provided with to get ready. But I wouldn’t say I liked the thought of leaving this place. I don’t know why! This one night that I spent here felt like home. There are a lot of unfamiliar feelings I am feeling these days, which leaves me totally confused. After getting ready, I joined Lily and Grover; Ian and Rose also joined us in the meantime, and Alex was there from the beginning. We all were talking and laughing. I quite like the idea of staying together like that. By talking with them, I got to know that Alex, Grover, and Ian are some kind of long-distance relatives and do business together and live together. I liked the vibe here… A happy and lively vibe. They all felt like…family!
