ALPHA'S MATE

CHAPTER-07

ALEX'S POV,

The next day after the party,

In the morning,

We have a rule in our werewolf world for alphas, if we find our mates, we need to notify the council. I notified them early in the morning, and they congratulated me. Urged me to bring her to the pack.

However, I didn't tell them that my mate is a human. More like I can’t. It’s not the right time to tell them who she is.

I have a lot of people who are after my life, and I don't want them to be after my mate. I still can’t find that guy...

Who ruined my family...

So, I didn't disclose anything about her. What if there is a mole in our pack? I can’t take the risk.

Though I’ll have to introduce her to everyone before the ceremony.

However, before that, I must ensure the danger is eradicated and the situation is under control. So that I can protect her from any unseen danger. I just have to plan everything right.

While I was busy with my thoughts, Ian called me to inform me that the apartment next to her was already made empty, and I could move in anytime.

The elderly couple who used to live there were more than happy to move when I offered them a house with a yard in the state where their son lived.

When I looked into the people whom Emily interacts with in that building the most was that couple. And they treated her like their daughter, though the fact that they wanted to set her up with their son still irks me.

Anyway, it was on very short notice, but they cooperated and moved overnight.

After Ian gave me the green light to move in, I called people to help me move and started the process.

But before that, I made sure to look into Emily’s checkout list to see what kind of things she liked.

I think the moon-goddess is on my side, and I got the full list of what furniture she liked. So I quickly bought those and asked them to move them to the address.

It was 10 when I started moving in, and I was happy just by the fact that she was next door. We were in such close proximity.

I could hear her slow breathing with my super hearing.

I asked them to keep the sounds low, but she still woke up.

I could hear her moving around her house. I could hear her starting her coffee machine. Then the sound of her making breakfast. After a while, the sound of her keys and then her unlocking her doors.

When she left the house, I was watching her from afar. She tried to watch who was moving. I stood in a place where she couldn’t see me, only I could see her.

When she couldn’t see anyone, she went on her way. And I went after her, though I saw it in the reports, I still wanted to watch her daily life with my own eyes.

The first thing she did was to shop for groceries, then drop them off at home. Only after that did she go to her clinic.

I was sitting in the cafe across from her clinic.

She is a veterinary doctor, and she likes animals.

My wolf was optimistic about her liking him too. He was purring in pure joy of watching our mate smiling, talking playing with the animals. He really wants to meet her in his original form.

He said to me, "See, our mate likes animals. She will surely like me too. I can't wait to show up in front of her. When are you going to tell her? Make it fast before I lose patience."

"Not now. What if she gets scared by your extra-large body? And let’s remember she doesn’t have any idea about supernatural beings. For her, they only exist in fantasy novels, not in real life." I said with a small laugh.

Lex growled in my mind and said, "She will like me no matter what. You'd better think about yourself. Don't scare her away with that maniac face of yours. Your face always looks like the world owes you in trillions."

I was completely speechless about what he said. I mean, others say that, but only behind my back… but this is the first time someone said that on my face. And that someone is none other than my other half. My wolf!

"Do I really look that irritable?" I thought to myself. And gained a snicker from Lex. He knew what I was thinking because we are connected. So well that I can’t remove the connection, no matter how much he annoys me sometimes. Like this time!!!!

Throughout the entire day, I saw her working tirelessly without getting tired.

She did her work really well.

I observed her playing with a pretty ragdoll cat, which was left for a check-up by its owner, and also with a golden retriever.

Animals seemed to like her too.

We were taught that animals like those who have pure hearts, and she was just what my pack and I needed.

The whole day went by in a blink, and it was time for her to leave for home.

While she is closing, I decided to go ahead of her, but left two warriors to protect her from any potential dangers. Which I hope there will be none.

After she arrived at the building, I intentionally ran into her in front of the elevator.

She looked at me with a surprised look on her face. We both stood still. Looking at each other. We both couldn’t break the silence.

And then ‘ting’. The elevator door opened. We got out of the trance.

Inside the elevator, I started to make conversation.

"Miss Emily, nice to see you here," I said.

"Nice to see you, Mr. Wolfe," she replied.

"Do you live here? I just moved here today," I said, wanting to start a conversation with her.

"Yes, Mr. Wolfe, I live here. Where did you move to?" she asked.

I told her the number of my apartment, and she seemed surprised. Confusion clear on her face.

"Mr. Wolfe, why did you move here, if you don't mind me asking?" she asked.

"The place I was living in is going through renovation. This place is near my office, and it’s easy to commute from here. It’ll save time, and I can sleep for maybe half an hour more." I explained with a smile.

After we arrived on our floor. She was about to enter her apartment when I blurted out without thinking, "Miss Emily, tomorrow I am holding a small housewarming party. I hope you can attend."

She agreed to come to the party, and I was thrilled at the thought of her being at my house tomorrow.

I was also saddened that she was just a few meters away from me, but I couldn't embrace her.

When she went inside, I called Ian, as Grover was busy persuading his own mate, and I didn't want to disturb him.

"Arrange a housewarming party and come with Rose.” I said to him.

Rose is his mate, whom we grew up with, and she turned out to be his mate. Though they needed a few years before claiming each other because Rose was out of the country for studies.

Ian said he and Rose would be here in a bit to prepare for tonight’s party.

And I was happy to be in the same building as her. And being with her is just a matter of time.

I could hear everything she was doing. Moving around her house, doing her nightly routine, turning pages of a book I guess.

When I heard her breathing slow down, I understood that she had fallen asleep.

I tried to sleep too with the rhythm of her slow breathing, but it seemed sleep wasn’t coming to me.

I kept tossing and turning in my bed.

I think I was too excited to fall asleep.

At midnight, I couldn't keep myself away from her, knowing she was just two doors away from me.

So, I went to see her by jumping off the balcony.

Our balconies were slightly connected, and with my wolf with me, I could easily jump to hers.

Upon entering her room, I see her sleeping peacefully.

She looked so pretty.

I watched her sleep, and when it was almost dawn, I reluctantly walked away...
