Emory started her day by staring at Gavin sleeping soundly next to her. She then called in to all her bosses to ask for an impromptu day off, which they all agreed anyways. It is a big day for her. She jumped into the shower and fixed herself. She wore a dress that Gavin bought for her 5 months ago. It is her first time wearing it hence she was shocked as to how it fits her so well. It is a yellow dress that hugged her body tightly, emphasizing her big bust and hips and slim waist. The dress is flowy and 4 inches above the knee. She seems uncomfortable not being used to wearing short dresses, but she wanted to feel pretty before meeting the woman. Gavin was still sleeping when she left.
Emory arrived at the 48th cafe when she saw the woman already waiting for her, seated at the farthest left table. She knew her because she stalked her social media account while she was on the bus earlier. "Hi", she said while standing in front of the woman. The woman stood up and tried to shake hands and introduce herself but Emory cut her off and told her to just sit down. Emory was looking at her belly and it is already showing.
"I'm really sorry. I know I am the bad person here, but I wanted to make this right for my baby", the woman uttered with a low shaking voice.
"So what really happened?", Emory asked.
"We worked together in the hotel, and after our shift, Gavin would always ask me to walk me home. At first I was hesitant because I knew he have a long time girlfriend. However, Gavin is so persistent and always being flirty with me, until I fell in love. From then I started agreeing with Gavin walking me home. And then we started having an affair. Gavin comes to my apartment most of the days and we will have s*x every time for long hours, even at work during break time."
Emory's heart sank and cannot believe what she heard. All this time she was thinking Gavin is the perfect man. But he was not. She does not want to cause a commotion so she told the woman instead, "I am very hurt, and as a woman, you should know how this feels. I do not want your baby to grow up with no farther, because Gavin's been there. So I gave him up to you. Just give me this day to settle things with him, then he's all yours." She left hurriedly as soon as she uttered these words.
Emory went back to the apartment and there she saw Gavin, with a wide smile on his face and both hands behind him. He approached her, held her face and slipped his tongue between her lips and kissed her torridly before he licked her neck. He then handed her a bouquet of Dahlia.
"What is this for?" she coldly asked.
Gavin, confused by her attitude, moved a step back and asked her "What's wrong with you?"
Emory then bursts into tears and knelt down to the floor. Gavin was so shocked but seem to have understood the situation. He sat on a chair, silently and face down. He realized that she's already aware of the truth.
"Look, I'm --"
"Stop it Gavin, stop!!!!!!". This is her first time to belt out all her frustrations and emotions after the very first day of learning about the affair.
"I loved you with all my heart, Gavin. I gave you my life, my womanhood. I took care of you and I even forget about my parents sometimes because I wanted to put you first before anyone else, that's how madly in love I am with you. You were my everything and our plans for the future were already great, but why?"
"I am really sorry, Emory. I know this is extremely hurtful. I know I promised not to hurt you. But I cannot stop it. I love you so much but there's something special about Shanaya that I haven't felt when I'm with you. I just cannot stop it, I am really sorry. Gavin started to cry too.
Emory can't believe it. All she thought that's perfect was not. She thought she's special for Gavin but she's not.
"You're free to go. You're free from me. You can raise your family and please do not cheat on her, you do not want your baby to grow with a broken family, right?"
Painful as it may seem, Emory had to leave Gavin. This is the fact. She cannot complete with a child. She has to be strong for herself and her parents. She must move on and must not think of this depressing event again.
