Chapter Twenty-Three
Her steps echoed through the corridors. Why was she here? She'd just gone through the most gruelling fight of her life, the last thing she wanted was to have to spend her time dealing with her brother and the rest of the kelpies. She wanted to be with her men, taking a well-earned rest and relaxing in one another's arms. She'd come to the Loch without them, not wanting to drag them through more of the boring politics. They'd have the rest of their lives for that.
"Anything I should know about?" she asked Mairi.
"Nothing new. Jerry has spent the whole time protesting his innocence while the guards jibe at him. I think they're just trying to get some kind of reaction out of him."
