Olivia’s POV
I couldn’t help but feel a mix of fear and anticipation as I stood before Tristan. My heart raced, each beat thundering in my chest as I gathered the courage to speak. He stood there, watching me with those piercing eyes, waiting for me to say something, anything.
I had no idea how to begin. I had so many questions, so many things I wanted to know, but the truth felt so heavy, so foreign.
“Olivia,” Tristan finally spoke, his voice soft but full of an undeniable urgency. “You need to understand. What you’re feeling, this pull between us—it’s not something you can ignore. It’s a bond, a connection that’s beyond your control. You’re my mate.”
I shook my head, my thoughts tumbling over one another. “I don’t know what that means. I don’t even know what you are, Tristan.”
His jaw tightened, and for a moment, I could see the struggle behind his eyes. I wasn’t sure if it was frustration or something else, but whatever it was, it made my heart ache.
“I’m a werewolf,” he said simply, as if that explained everything. “But that’s not what matters right now. What matters is you.”
I tried to take a deep breath, but it felt like I couldn’t get enough air into my lungs. This wasn’t real. It couldn’t be. But the way he looked at me, the way his presence seemed to fill the space, made it impossible to ignore.
“Werewolves?” I whispered, the word tasting foreign on my tongue. “You’re... a werewolf? Like... the kind in stories? The ones who change under the full moon?”
Tristan’s expression softened, but there was a sadness in his eyes. “Yes, Olivia. The same. But it’s more than just changing under the moon. It’s a life, a pack, a way of living. And now, you’re a part of that. Whether you like it or not.”
I backed away slightly, instinctively putting space between us. “I don’t know if I can be a part of that. I don’t even know what any of this means. This bond... this ‘mate’ thing. What if I don’t want it?”
He stepped closer, not giving me the chance to retreat further. “You don’t have to want it, Olivia. It’s not a choice. You’ve already felt the pull. You already know it’s real, even if you don’t understand it yet. But I promise you, it’s not something to fear.”
I closed my eyes, trying to process everything. He was standing so close now, his scent, a mix of earth and something more primal, filling the air. I could feel the warmth radiating from him, a stark contrast to the chill running through me.
“Why now?” I finally asked, my voice small. “Why me?”
Tristan hesitated, his eyes searching mine as if he were deciding how much to reveal. “Because the bond has been growing stronger for months. But it’s not just about us. There’s a bigger threat coming. And the longer I wait, the more dangerous it becomes for both of us.”
I frowned. “A threat? What kind of threat?”
“A rogue pack,” he said, his voice low and full of warning. “They’ve been making moves for a while now. They’re dangerous, and they’ll stop at nothing to get what they want. And right now, what they want is you.”
I stepped back in shock. “Me? Why me? What do they want with me?”
“I don’t know yet,” Tristan admitted, his gaze never leaving mine. “But I’ll protect you. I’ll do whatever it takes to keep you safe.”
I felt the weight of his words settle over me, and for the first time since meeting him, I saw the vulnerability in his eyes. It was the first time I realized just how much this wasn’t just about me. It was about him, too.
“Is this the world you live in?” I asked quietly. “This danger, these packs... this... bond?”
He nodded, his expression solemn. “It’s the world I’ve known all my life. And now it’s yours, too. But you don’t have to face it alone. I’ll be by your side.”
I swallowed hard, my mind reeling with everything he’d said. Nothing made sense, but the way he spoke—so earnestly, so determined—was enough to make me want to believe him.
But I couldn’t just accept this. I couldn’t just jump into a world I knew nothing about.
“I need time,” I said, my voice barely a whisper.
“I know,” he replied softly. “And I’ll give you that. But just know this—no matter what happens, you’re not alone in this. You’ll never be alone.”
I wanted to argue, to ask more questions, but something in his eyes stopped me. I didn’t understand it yet, but I felt it. The bond. The connection. It was real.
And whether I was ready for it or not, I was already tied to him.

Tristan’s POV
I watched her as she backed away, her eyes wide with confusion and fear. It broke me to see her like this. I never wanted her to feel threatened or scared. But I knew the truth now. I couldn’t hide it from her any longer.
“I never wanted to put this on you,” I said, my voice thick with emotion. “But I’m not going to leave you to face it alone. You’re my mate, Olivia. That means something. It means I’ll protect you. No matter what.”
Her eyes softened for a moment, and I could see the flicker of something between us—something I had no words for. It was both terrifying and beautiful at the same time.
“I don’t know what to do with all of this,” she whispered.
“I know,” I said. “You don’t have to figure it out all at once. Just... trust me.”
Her gaze dropped to the floor, and I could see the weight of her thoughts pressing down on her. I reached out, gently lifting her chin so our eyes met once more.
“I won’t rush you,” I promised. “But I’ll always be here. For you.”
She didn’t say anything, but her eyes told me everything I needed to know. She was scared. She didn’t understand. But she wasn’t pushing me away either. That was enough for now.
The future was uncertain, and the dangers of my world were closing in fast. But for the first time, I had hope. Hope that Olivia might one day understand what it meant to be my mate. Hope that together, we could face whatever came next.
But I knew one thing for sure. I would never let anything harm her.

Olivia’s POV
I stood there, staring at Tristan, my heart pounding in my chest. This was all too much, too fast. But the way he looked at me—the sincerity in his eyes—told me he wasn’t lying. There was a bond, something deeper than either of us fully understood.
I didn’t know what was going to happen next. But I knew one thing. I couldn’t turn my back on him now.
And that, in itself, terrified me.
