Chapter 1
MIRANDA
"Where do you think you're going to? You weakling."
Derek pushed me against the wall while his friends, both male and female wolves, laughed at me.
I felt so scared that I had to tell him to leave me alone.
"Just let me be, please," I begged, hiding my face in fear.
Derek scoffed at my words and said, grabbing my chin roughly, " Don't give me an order. I am the one who should do that."
He yanked my chin aside, hurting my jaw. I held my mouth, feeling scared as he kept on bullying me along with the others.
He's the son of the Alpha of the Dark Wolf Pack, and the future king. So he now feels powerful even though he hasn't gotten to the throne just yet.
"My prince, don't let her come to the moon festival. We don't want a weakling like her there."
"Yes, we don't want her there."
His friends advised, laughing at me.
The moon festival is tonight. It's the gathering of wolves to witness the beauty of the goddess from above.
I can't miss this, but with Derek pestering my life, I don't know what to do.
Derek smirked at what his friends said and warned me," You heard them. Don't you dare bring your ugly self to the festival, or I'll make you regret it. Understood?"
He pushed me to the ground with his friends laughing. I stood on the ground, crying while they walked away, still insulting me.
Once they were gone, I gently went back home to meet my stepfather, ignoring the mockery of the pack members that saw what happened.
When my stepfather saw my dirty body, he sparked at me.
"Are you a child or what? Why are you so filthy? " He asked, pointing at my clothes.
I sniffed, trying to hold back my tears, before telling him what had happened.
"They bullied me and told me not to come to the festival. "
"The Alpha's son said so?" He asked, glaring at me.
I nodded at my stepfather.
Instead of getting his support, he scoffed and said, "I was just about to say the same thing to you. It's good that he pointed out your flaws."
"What?" I stared at him.
My stepfather also forbade me from joining the moon festival tonight, or I'll be punished.
"But I want to. Why can't I come?"
"Are you trying to go against me?!" He roared, shining his raging eyes at me.
In fear, I stood back with my head going down.
"Fool. Don't let me see you there or you'll regret it," He groaned, walking pass me.
I felt so sad that I had to rush to my room and burst out in tears, asking the goddess why she has made me this way.
"I wish I wasn't alive," I cried bitterly.
.
Night finally came. The full moon was out, glowing beautifully. My stepfather had left the house with the excited people of the pack, while I remained indoor, watching with sadness.
The festival was taking place at the center of the pack, which is far from my home.
Once my neighborhood sounded so quiet like a graveyard, I sat outside my home to look at the moon with tears in my eyes.
"Goddess, please take me out of this cage. I don't want to be here anymore," I cried, unable to bare this injustice on me.
Suddenly, I felt the presence of someone around my quiet neighborhood.
I thought it was perhaps a neighbor returning from the festival, but my heart was left shaken on seeing a handsome man, standing afar from my point, looking at me.
His body figure was huge, and his eyes glowed red. The sight of this man left my heart pounding at first, but I killed such feeling and acted mature.
"Can I help you? " I asked.
That got him walking up to me, causing my body to shake even more.
I wanted to retreat back into my house, but this stranger surprised me with his speed. He took hold of me against the door of my home, stared into my eyes, and said, " You're beautiful."
This left my cheek glowing. It's the first time anyone would call me that.
"What's your name? " He asked, caressing my cheek.
My body came heating up as I answered him softly, "Miranda."
"Miranda, that's indeed a pretty name," he commented.
In split second, he had his lips tangled with mine, kissing me beautifully.
I felt butterflies in my heart, as I slowly wrapped my hands around this stranger I know nothing of.
But the aura coming from him felt like we've met before.
When his lips left mine, he whispered to me, "Come to the festival. Meet me there." He caressed my cheek, planting one more kiss to my cheek, before distancing himself away.
I was left blown away. My heart has just be taken away with a kiss from a stranger I don't know. It made me feel wanted and loved. He just brightened my lonely heart.
And now, I badly want to be around him.
I ignored the warnings from my stepfather and Derek, and made my way to the moon festival.
I got there to meet the whole place crowded with everyone celebrating. All my goal was to find the man that has stolen my heart.
While checking, someone grabbed me by the arm roughly, turning me over.
When I looked, I was shocked to find my stepfather.
"How dare you disobey me?" He growled at me.
His words notified my presence to others around us, causing them to drift away with disgust. It even got Derek's attention. He was close by.
"I thought I told you not to come here? " Derek questioned with a nasty glare, leaving me shaking.
All eyes fell on me like I was an enemy, making me wish I didn't come over.
"You don't belong here. Get lost," Derek sparked at me, getting others to do the same.
My stepfather also joined them, calling me shameless.
I felt sad and decided to just leave.
All of a sudden, someone said, "She's not going anywhere."
I turned to look and saw the stranger.
"Alpha Hugo?"
"Its Alpha Hugo!"
I heard everyone murmuring, referring to the stranger as an Alpha. This left me stunned more on seeing how everyone transformed from raging wolves to surprised wolves.
“He's an Alpha?" I stared at him.
Alpha Hugo walked up to me and took hold of my hand from my stepfather, holding it sweetly.
"She is not going anywhere. She is my chosen mate."
