THE SAFE HOUSE

326 Words
As they arrived at the safe house, Emily felt a sense of relief wash over her. It was a small, secluded cabin on the outskirts of town, surrounded by dense woods and a high fence. Alex smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "This is one of my safe houses," he said, unlocking the door. "You'll be safe here." Emily nodded, her eyes scanning the property. She could see the security cameras and the alarm system, and she felt a sense of reassurance. As they entered the cabin, Emily was struck by its cozy atmosphere. There was a fireplace, a comfortable couch, and a kitchen that seemed to be stocked with everything they would need. Alex smiled, noticing her gaze. "I've had this place set up for a while," he said. "I knew I might need it someday." Emily nodded, feeling a sense of gratitude towards him. "Thank you for bringing me here," she said, her voice soft. As they settled in, Emily realized that she was starting to feel a sense of normalcy. She and Alex were cooking dinner together, watching TV, and just enjoying each other's company. But as the night wore on, Emily couldn't shake the feeling that they weren't safe. She kept looking over her shoulder, expecting to see someone lurking in the shadows. Alex noticed her unease and pulled her into a hug. "We'll be okay," he said, his voice soothing. "I promise." Emily nodded, feeling a sense of comfort in his arms. She knew that she could trust him, and that he would do everything in his power to keep her safe. As they drifted off to sleep, Emily felt a sense of peace wash over her. She knew that there would be challenges ahead, but she was ready to face them with Alex by her side. But little did they know, danger was lurking just outside the cabin. Alex's family had tracked them down, and they were closing in.
