THE MEETING
Emily Wilson stepped into the sleek, modern office building, her heels clicking on the polished marble floor. She took a deep breath, smoothing her tailored blazer and straightening her shoulders. Another day, another meeting with the marketing team.
As she entered the conference room, her colleagues were already seated, laptops open and notes scattered across the table. Emily took her seat beside Sam Lee, her best friend and confidant in the office.
"Morning," Sam whispered, offering a warm smile.
Emily returned the smile, feeling a sense of comfort with her friend by her side. The team's leader, Rachel Patel, began the meeting, discussing sales projections and marketing strategies. Emily's mind wandered slightly, but she snapped back to attention when Alex Thompson, the CEO, strode into the room.
His presence commanded attention. Tall, broad-shouldered, and chiseled, Alex exuded confidence and authority. Emily felt a flutter in her chest as their eyes met briefly, but she quickly looked away, focusing on her notes.
The meeting was a whirlwind of ideas, discussions, and debates. Emily contributed her thoughts, feeling a sense of pride in her work. As the meeting concluded, Alex assigned tasks and deadlines, his voice smooth and commanding.
"Emily, I'd like to see you in my office after the meeting," he said, his gaze lingering on hers.
Emily's heart skipped a beat. What did he want? She nodded, jotting down a note to herself.
As the meeting adjourned, Emily gathered her things and followed the others out of the conference room. Sam caught up to her, whispering, "Hey, what's Alex want?"
Emily shrugged. "No idea, but I'll find out soon enough."
