Chapter 11Pirithous let everyone know of the Minotaur’s allegiance to Theseus, but it was one thing to know that and another to truly believe it, and so all the humans on board the ship, save Theseus, kept their distance from the beast. Theseus patted Enclimatheus on his snout and whispered soothing words to him, and the Minotaur lay down on the deck and went to sleep.
“He did not ask to be made this way,” Theseus said to his friends. “And as you can see, he has been tamed. I ask that you show him compassion, and not fear.”
