Chapter 8: First Test

1036 Words
The darkness prevailed in our room. A little light could be seen as the door leading outside was open. The only thing you could hear was the zombie devouring the human and our conversation.     "Don't act like you are a strong person."     The woman replied. I was shocked. What does she mean by that? Did she just saw through me? Is that even possible?     "What do you want!"     "Just get out of the way or I will kill each and one of you."     "There's no way we are going to let you in!"     Ahllen shouted while running to her. He tried to hit the person, but she just avoided it. She countered the attack by hitting Ahllen. He then went flying on the other side.     I had my grip to the crowbar and all I need was a plan on when to attack. Maybe I could just try running like what Ahllen did. I'll take my chances.     I decided to run towards her. I tripped in the middle of running. Luckily, Rias was behind me and be able kick the woman.     The woman was pushed by Rias's kick and eventually fell into the ground. She managed to stand up in just a few seconds. I tried my best to stand up, but my left arm, that was hit by the explosion feels weak.     I decided to loosen up my grip to the crowbar and left it lying on the ground. I then put all my force to my right hands so I could stand up and continue on fighting.     Rias changed into a defensive stance and waited for the woman's attacks. Ahllen on the other hand, just stood up and looks like he is also waiting for the attack.     The woman run towards Rias while she tried to avoid her attack, but to no avail. Ahllen joined in and he manage to hit the person midway of her attack.     The woman's eyeglass flew. I'm not sure if it got broke or something, but it's not something to take care about.     I grabbed the crowbar that was lying on the ground while the person is currently lying. I ran towards her and acted like I'm about to hit her with the crowbar.     The noise from our fights stopped and it became quiet once again. The last thing I heard was the swinging of my crowbar. I could barely see the woman in front of me, but I'm sure we already won at this point.     "Please stop!"     I saw the woman in tears though it's only a little. Why? Was this a bluff? What is she trying to do?     "And why will we stop?"     I asked in annoyance. Earlier, she was just so bossy then now, she would cry for her life? What a joke.     "It's me. Karri."     I stared at her. Karri. Another friend of mine during grade school. She was our classmate together with Ahllen and Rodner. Why is she here? And what does she need?     "Karri?"     "Yes Ahllen."     Ahllen helped Karri to stand up. I lay on the ground in exhaustion. I loosen up my grip to the crowbar and covered my face with my arms.     It's hard without using my left arm. I'll have to suffer a little bit more throughout this journey.     "Luckily, you survived out here. What do you need?"     Rias asked. She seems to be frustrated about what happened just now. I can't blame her after all. I mean, she could just talk to us normally you know.     While we are talking, I remembered about the zombie earlier. I sat and looked at where it was before, but it's nowhere to be found. Suddenly, Karri walked across Rias. The zombie I was looking for was already behind her. She took it down all by herself.     "What the."     With a little bit of light source, I could still imagine how Karri took down the monster. The thud coming from her actions surrounded the whole room.     "I just need the ammunition of the Prime Gun."     Karri explained while she picked up her eyeglass on the ground. I stopped for a moment and thought of what this "Prime gun" is. I'm guessing it's the one we're searching for. As I was about to ask the question, Ahllen spoke "Prime gun?"     "A gun that was developed by the military recently." Karri answered. So it was really the gun that we're searching for...     Ahllen still looked confused. I'm not sure of what it is, but I guess we should hear him out. Ahllen then abruptly said "Why do you need such thing? For protection I guess?"     So it has a name huh. Karri then smiled and explained "The Prime Gun uses a unique ammunition. In our research, we found out that this could help a little in developing a cure for this virus."     A lot of things are complicated huh... Rica then asked. "So, it's just the ammunition that you need?"     "Yeah right. If you could just give us a sample, that's already fine."     Are they serious? So they are already creating a cure... I hope it would be created soon. Rica asked again "'us' and 'our'. Who are you with?"     A great observation. I haven't even noticed it at all. I guess that's why Rica managed to survive out this long... Karri smiled again as if being amazed by us. She then replied to Rica "Jaira. You must have known her right, CJ?"     "Her?!" Jaira? Oh. She's our classmate when we are still on grade 6. She's friends with Loraine and Christine. They would really be happy upon hearing this news.     Our talk was interrupted when we heard a huge growl. It came from an evolved zombie.     "That zombie is an evolved one. Use the Prime Gun to kill it." Karri immediately said. As I heard that information I ran through the gun that we found earlier. I picked it up and pressed the trigger. But it doesn't work.     "You're supposed to hold the trigger!" Karri shouted. Well I guess I did the wrong thing. I again pointed my weapon to the zombie and this time, held the trigger. The Prime Gun seems to gather all of it's power until I released the trigger. The laser immediately passed through the zombie. Slowly, like a dust, it's whole body faded one by one. It was as if a you killed a monster in an RPG game. "Awesome!"
