I guess it worked... Maybe we should head home now. I looked around and everyone was amazed on what just happened.
"I'll bring Jaira here. Please stay for a while. We could at least stay to your safe zone while trying to formulate a cure." Karri explained. She then headed outside while we just stood and watched her leave.
"Let's rest for a while."
I decided to sat down and thought of the things that happened this past few days. Ahllen lay on the ground while Rica remained standing. She was leaning on the floor which I think could make her relax.
"Did she just said safe zone?"
Ahllen spoke. Now that he mentioned it... Did Karri just found out that we're staying in a safe zone? Maybe she's stalking even before we went outside the school?
"She probably guessed it. I mean, we won't survive this long without a safe zone right?"
Rias explained her thoughts. I don't feel like joining the conversation in exhaustion.
It wasn't that long when Karri returned. A person wearing a white robe walks beside her. It was Jaira.
"Let's go. We could use our van to reach the place you guys are staying with." Jaira explained. I stood up and helped Ahllen by lending my hand to him.
While going our way to the van, I noticed that Jaira was holding some sort of a huge briefcase. In curiosity, I decided to ask.
"Hey Jaira, what's inside that briefcase?"
Jaira continued to walk while we follow her. She then started talking after some time.
"The ammunition of the Prime Gun."
Jaira surely speaks a little. Though, you could already identify what she wants to say to you.
We manage to ride the van that Karri was talking about. Jaira was in charge of driving while Karri was beside her. I stayed on the back part of the van as Ahllen and Rias was already in the middle part. There's a huge amount of space that's available for me to occupy so I took the chance and lay.
I looked outside the window. What I saw was just a normal blue sky. Some clouds are scattered while birds would travel around. It was as if things are just the way it is before the apocalypse.
The van we're currently riding at was taking it's way to a flatland. There were no such things as trees around and only scattered stones could be found. There were no signs of the monsters or any blood spills.
I slept without noticing it. I was woke up by Rias when we reached the school. It was already night time and everything outside was quiet. The van slowly entered our place. I saw the Principal as he stood with the guards to approach us.
I did a last look at the place outside. This will be the last time if ever we never go outside again. The same buildings in the town remains here. Except, some are burnt into fire while lamp posts fell on it.
The day ended. I rested for almost half a day the next morning, which makes me late for the recent news.
I woke up around 2 pm. I looked around only to notice that everyone was outside. I slowly stood up and checked outside through the fourth floor. It seems like they're busy doing something. I should help if I could.
I made my way to the ground floor and saw a lot of students helping Karri and Jaira in their work. My left arm slowly healed and I could now feel moving it.
"Did you took enough rest?"
Someone spoke from behind. It was Loraine, leaning on one of the school poles. I stared for a little bit long before I spoke "Yeah. I guess..."
Loraine smiled. She then continued to walk until she reached Jaira to help them to their work. I decided to sit on the side and stared at the people while they work.
All of a sudden, Rodner appeared behind and sat beside me. He then started to talk.
"I guess Rias won the gamble."
"Yeah..."
"Hey! Don't look so down right after our meeting today. I haven't got the chance to talk to you yesterday you know."
Rodner then put his arms to my back. It was as if there's no tomorrow in his actions.
"I'm just glad your safe."
I shared a lot of things to Rodner like what happened during our expedition and other stuffs. It took some time before Rodner and I decided to check on what the people on the field are doing. It was most probably that it was the cure, but I should at least make sure that that was really the one they are doing.
What I noticed as I slowly approached them was that they are divided into two. The other one was creating some sort of chemical stuff while the other one involved metallic materials.
"Where can I help?" I asked. Karri looked at me. She then replied "Here take this. Wait for some minutes and see if there was a reaction. I took the substance and seated near them.
Days passed by and we managed to create some sort of a weapon similar to the Prime gun, but a lower version. It was kind of a pistol with the same mechanics as the gun.
I was the first one to test in as they said that I'm good in aiming. At first, the Prime Pistol didn't work when I held the trigger. Then all of a sudden, it started shooting which causes trouble to some buildings.
After many testings and fixings, we managed to complete the development of the Prime Pistol. There were 6 of it but 5 was distributed to some of the guards. I was given the 1 as Karri believed that I could use it in case something happens.
For the cure, it was around 95% complete. We were really filled with joy about the progress. It was as if we're the heroes of the world. But we didn't expect the next things that happened.
