Exact Plan

Jason's POV I sat there and watched Leo go on and on about the journey we had ahead without interrupting him. I waited until he was through. While he explained I tried to look at him closely to see if I could get what the problem was but his expression was guarded. "So what do you think Alpha?" Leo asked after he was through with what he was saying. "I think you should man up and tell me what exactly is going on with you," I said frowning at him. "Nothing is going on with me Alpha. I would like to know what you think about the plan so that I can start putting things in place," Leo said still looking away from me. He wouldn't even meet my gaze and he was insisting that nothing was wrong with him. "You are being petty right now Leo. You are my best friend. I know you too well. The only time you respect me is when we have company. Why the sudden coldness?" "I am not being petty Alpha. I am just trying to severe any serious personal ties I have with you because by the time what you are doing backfires, I will not be obligated to be there for you," Leo said shrugging. His expression was blank, unreadable. "What did I do this time Leo?" I asked sighing tiredly as I sank deeper into my seat. “You don't have to understand. But the time bomb you have decided to sit on might just be your undoing,” Leo said then shrugged again. "What are you talking about Leo?" I asked in confusion. "Are you really going to pretend as if you do not know what I am talking about?" Leo asked meeting my gaze in annoyance. "I don't know what you are talking about," I said shaking my head for emphasis. I was totally lost and I was getting tired of whatever game he was playing. "When are you going to stop treating Jane like she means nothing to you?" Leo asked, this time meeting my gaze with anger dancing in his eyes. "She means nothing to me Leo. I don't want her in my life; she is a burden,’ I said dismissively. "Then do away with her. Let her pick a male of her choice and mate with him. Let her go and be happy," Leo said passionately. "Are you mad? Why will I do that. Hilda asked me to make Jane my Luna. I gave Hilda my words and that is all she is going to be, my Luna not my love,' I said as anger coaxed through my veins at the idea of letting Jane go. The idea made an unknown feeling to rise in my chest almost robbing me of my breath. "I am sure if Hilda knew that this is how you are going to treat that poor girl, she wouldn't have asked you to make her your Luna," Leo hissed. "The moon goddess took Hilda from me because she thought she could replace her with Jane. I am not going to let her win," I said growling lowly. "Sometimes, I wonder how a dumb person like you became Alpha. You are fighting a battle that you cannot win. Jane is your mate. You need to accept that," Leo said banging the table in annoyance. "If Jane had not come along, I am sure that Hilda would still be alive and that murderer of a baby," I said gritting my teeth. "Are you even listening to yourself talk? Hilda gave her life to have that child but you don't want to see the baby. You are just a hypocrite. I don't think you truly loved Hilda because if you truly loved her, you would not want her sacrifice to go in vain," Leo was fuming. His eyes were red and misty. "You have always turned a blind eye to what is going on between Jane and I. Why the sudden change?" I asked because Leo had not for one day said anything about what was happening. He only kept quiet. He sometimes shook his head and walked away if he saw me mistreating Jane. His sudden interest was baffling. "You made my mate cry Alpha. She was here yesterday. She saw Jane in the nursery where she was crying brokenly after you had sliced her to pieces with your words. My mate was also here when you nearly strangled an innocent Omega to death because an adult on her own free will strolled out of the house," Leo said with something akin to disdain in his eyes. "What was I supposed to do? They disobeyed me," I said but it sounded like a flimsy excuse even to my ears. "I know you are cold hearted but even for you, that was low. That girl was scared witless yesterday by the rogue, you were supposed to bring her home and calm her down but what did you do? You traumatized her the more," Leo was talking on top of his voice. "I can't allow her steal my heart. It is reserved for Hilda forever. I can't let that moon goddess think that she can win in a game that involves my life," I said raising my voice too. "That is your ego talking Alpha Jason. And I hope that you won't regret all this when you finally realize that you can't fight destiny. When Jane turns eighteen and realizes that you are her mate, I am sure she will want nothing to do with you," Leo said with assurance. "That is exactly what I want. I want nothing to do with her. She and that evil child are the reason my Hilda is gone," I said stubbornly like a child insisting only on what he understands. "And you think you need to punish them for what the moon goddess and fate orchestrated?" "I am not punishing them, I am only keeping my love and memories of Hilda guarded. I am sorry that I made your mate cry but my resolve can't change," I said stubbornly. "I am putting it to you Alpha Jason, you are going to regret this. You are going to regret not loving her the way you should and you are going to regret treating her like a piece of s**t," Leo said then picked up his folder and moved to the door. Please get back to me on your thought about the journey. Have a good day Alpha," he said then closed the door behind him. I sat there in my seat with my heart heavy in my chest. I was sure that what I felt for Jane was pure hatred so there was no way I was going to regret not accepting her. Leo actually hit a cord with the baby and Hilda's sacrifice thing. Leo has once said it but he had only admonished me then. I thought of the idea of Jane rejecting me after she realized that I was her mate and I growled out loud. She dare not try to reject me. In fact, I was going to make her sign a prenup. She would be nothing to me but a contract mate. No love, no feelings, nothing. She was going to remain beside me and be my Luna and then the moon goddess will see how I refuse to love her choice of a mate for me. That was my exact plan.
