"Losing on the first game, aren't we, amigo?" a voice behind her asked.
She turned around and found a guy around her age looking at her red-shaded screen with his thumb and his index clasping his chin. What's prominent on this figure is his jacket.
The red-black-white-themed jacket clumsily slung on his shoulders is obviously crafted to boast significance.
"Hey, isn't that...?" a customer beside Naika left his match running in windbreakers to whisper this to the person on his left, squinting his eyes in an effort to see better.
"I was just unlucky...I guess" she replied dryly and turned back to the monitor.
"Don't be salty! Just admit that you played badly. The game isn't luck-based, I can assure you that. You noobs keep making the mistake that it's not your fault you lost. It helps to admit mistakes and learn from them" he said in a mocking tone.
[Noob - comes from "newbie"; newcomer]
She flinched, irritated with the abrupt attack. "Excuse me, who are you again?", She asked like the mature person she is.
"Hey dollface, are you blind or what. Can't you recognize the jacket?" He asked back rhetorically. Now he was frankly getting into her nerves.
"You!" He pointed at Naika's seatmate. "What is this?" he pointed at the cloth slung on his shoulder.
"A querencian's uniform!" He said with joy written on his face as if he'd seen a celebrity.
He smiled, satisfied, then nodded, "Very observant, unlike our friend over here", then pointed at the other seatmate. "What is Querencia?"
"A school only for the most talented gamers!", she said, with joy as well.
He seemed to be revered by the other players around them, but Naika is the least enthusiastic about it. In fact, she wants to throw a fit of rage on him and teach him some modesty, but she does not want to cause a scene.
She looked at Neiko and lifted an eyebrow, then he smiled. She winked at him and he stopped himself from bursting out in laughter. He knows what's about to come down.
"Okay then, sir Rico from wherever. Would you be so kind as to educate this beginner?" She humbly yet sarcastically requested with a bow.
"Querencia, estúpida. But for a girl, I wouldn't mind giving one of my masterclasses to you. You probably wouldn't learn anything from it anyway. I hope you can keep up with at least half the pace." he arrogantly said.
"Here sir, I'll pay for you, sit here", Naika's seatmate offered to Rico.
"Thanks. Keep this up and you just might have a chance to hi-five me one day" he said, plugging in a golden card he pulled out from his pocket.
Naika faced her screen once more and saw, "Uber Helion has invited you to a match!" on it.
She clicked on the accept button and the monitor displayed the loading screen.
"Try not to get too nervous. You might miss a fraction of the lesson" Rico winked.
She looked at her screen and rolled her eyes. [Right...] she thought.
