January 31, 2012. It is Saturday 9:00 am. The weather is so good, the clouds are clearly seen on the sky, the skies are blue as the oceans and the seas.
Joshua is in the cafe nearby to his office. As he is waiting for his coffee facing the window, he's watching the people passing by and crossing the street when suddenly without his expectation he saw someone passing by which caused him to feel unwell as if he saw a ghost outside.
Meanwhile, the crew was calling him several times but he did not hear anything.
Crew: Sir, I just brought your order here, I was calling you but I guess you haven't hear me.
Crew: you seemed very happy everytime you go here and as you entered earlier but now you look so anxious something wrong?
Joshua just smiled a little to the crew.
Josh: you're so random. Thanks for this.
"She came back!!" Joshua in his mind when he saw Samantha.
He spent the night in the hotel there and woke up early and went unto the office where he is currently working.
After his work, Joshua is about to go to the park where he used to spend his time since he was on his highschool which was about 10 years ago when he received a call from his best friend Ally:
Ally: bro, join us for dinner tonight, see you.
Joshua: bro, I...
The call was ended.
Joshua is waiting for a taxi going to the restaurant to eat dinner with Ally instead of going to the park.
As he arrived and get in to the restaurant he saw Ally there with two other persons.
Ally: Josh! Come here!
He says in a loud voice.
Joshua went directly to their table and sit.
Ally: bro, this is Peter did you remember him? We went the same school during highschool, and this is his girlfriend Dianne.
Joshua smiled to them.
Peter: Hey bro, how are you? It's been a long time. I have seen you and did watched your performances at school before. I see you have a great talent in the field of poetry. Did you still keep writing until now? By the way, this is my girlfriend Dianne.
Dianne: Hello Josh
"No, not anymore." Joshua said.
They begun and finished eating.
Joshua just enjoyed the moment listening to them specially to his loquacious friend Ally.
Peter mentioned that they were getting married in the next month with Dianne.
Everything went well until Ally open up a topic.
Ally: Josh, what about you? When will be your plan?
Joshua: Huh? Plan for?
Ally: of getting married. Having your own family. You see, Peter and Dianne will soon build their own. Did you even think of it? You're now 27 years old and I haven't see you dating someone.
"It's up to you, you will get old alone and be bald" Ally added.
Joshua: Everything happens for a purpose. If I can't find someone that is suitable for me that means I can live my life alone.
Ally: bro, is that your motto or you are still hoping for that girl to come back?
Joshua: Which girl?
Ally: HAHAHAHA! think the playboy is asking. I'm talking about the girl you met in the park 10 years ago. You said the moment you saw her was like you are watching a movie
"The time freezed, the seas stopped moving, the surroundings began to blur when I saw you. Your hair swayed by the winds and your cute eyes catches me that time." Ally said in a poetic tone.
Ally: That's what you said right? And wait you still have a line lemme remember it. "After that time I loved going to that place I feel like when I'm there the snaps of the seas to the wall and blow of the winds are the perfect sound to my ears. They were the perfect rhythm of music on our lovestory."
Joshua: How do...
Ally: I have read it in your diary
Joshua: You brat!...
Ally: come on.
Peter: what's her name again? Sam?...
Ally: Samantha Kate Baxter the most beautiful girl on our campus who took the heart of our friend
Ally: Is that a love at first sight?
After the long conversation they decided to go to their respective places.
As Joshua riding on a bus going to his apartment, he is sitting beside the window and suddenly thinks of the past.
He ran after Samantha on the airport:
Joshua: Sorry, I just don't understand why you have to leave. Did I made a mistake?
Samantha: I have to go.
Joshua: You've promised. You said you will study at med-school so you can treat my illness.
Samantha: I have no time I have to go.
Joshua: I can't live my life without you
Samantha: You can! I'm sure you can. Go back there study hard and become professional so can pay your treatment. Find someone and have your son and daughter as what you wanted. Maybe our chance has ended.
Joshua: I'm not looking for a chance to someone. All I want is a chance like this. A chance to be with you.
He hugged her tight while their tears are flowing down to their faces.
When he arrived to his place he went to his room and get his diary. There he started writing the poem "Love at first sight?"
Joshua was known as a bard since highschool he just discovered his talent in writing. He actually has a diary and titled it "A poems of the weak-hearted". That diary was intended to his ex. Sam. He wrote poems, proses and letters sometimes when he missed her.
Josh never believed in love at first sight because for him, those happy couple he saw on the street are destined to meet each other. He believed that God binds them already and just made the two souls encountered according to his plan in a certain situation.
The next early morning, Joshua's alarm wakes him up "Josh, wake up it's already 7 in the morning you will be late. Hey Josh, wake up. Love! Wake up you will be late." A cute voice record of Samantha 10 years ago which he made as an alarm ringtone.
He got up opened the windows and went to the bathroom.
After taking a bath and dressed up. He went out to his apartment.
Joshua: Geez, it's raining hard, it is different from the other days.
He dropped on the cafe near to the office. After he took his order and turned himself to find a vacant seat when eventually he saw someone just entered to the cafe.
The girl is wet, wearing a formal outfit with her eyeglasses. she is wiping her clothes and fixing her uncombed hair.
Josh felt unease and awkward feeling. He can't stand a sight towards her.
After he found a vacant table he drinks his coffee there and leaved.
The girl did not notice him there.
Onwards, after his long rough day, Joshua decided to go to the park. As he is walking towards the bench where he used to sat on before. She asked:
Sam: What are those lights that shines like the stars on the sea?
She is looking and pointing towards the sea far from them.
Joshua: Ah, That are fishing boats.
Sam: Ah,
He sit beside her without words how ironic that he was a writer but he can't start a conversation towards Samantha.
When he went home he get his diary and started writing.
"What are those lights that shines like the stars on the sea? She asked me." It's been 10 years since the last time I've heard and seen you. How are you? I hope you're fine, will you stay here for good? Or you will leave sooner?"
He put his diary to his closet and go to bed.
As he was thinking of things he reminiscing their past:
Joshua: I know I'll die, maybe not now but a little bit sooner. When that happen I don't want you to be sad and if you can find someone who will love you more than I can, don't refuse it. I want you to be happy.
Sam: stop thinking about that you can't die. Listen I'll go to the med-school and I will become your cardiologist I'll treat you and take good care of you forever. Promise
"I'm looking forward to that" Joshua said while he was laying on samantha's shoulder.
