When Love chases the chance

When I first saw you

Samantha: Love... Why are you crying? Did I upset you? Did I said inappropriate words?

Joshua: no... you didn't. I cried because I believed in you and it comforts me. I cried because I loved hearing those words, I really wanted them all my life.

Joshua got up from his bed and get his diary. He write a message to Samantha because he missed those good old days.

"Dearest Sam, It's been 10 years since you've left. You leaved me no clue but I still end up waiting..."

After he'd done writing it and prepared himself for work, he prepare his breakfast. He toast bread and fried some eggs but all of them had burned.

sighs...

Later, he went to the bus terminal going to his work. While he's in the bus, he decided to eat breakfast on the Grilled restaurant near to his office. He did not noticed Samantha is in the bus too.

When he arrived and enter in to the restaurant he went to the front desk and ask for his order.

Joshua: Ms. Can you give me pork belly, soup and kindly include a glass of soda please.

"And also a cup of sundae" he added.

Crew: Sorry sir, but someone did ordered for you minutes ago.

Joshua: Huh? so-so-someone ordered for me? Hahaha! Wait, sorry but you were mistaken right?

Crew: no sir, she actually ordered for you.

Joshua: "Impossible" but who is she? I went here alone I'm not with someone.

Crew: She went on the C.R she'll be here in a minute. I guess she's your girlfriend or admirer by chance.

"by the way, she's wearing white dress and she's so beautiful." Crew said to him in addition.

Joshua: Ah,... girl...friend

Joshua turns himself around after the conversation. He looked at the customers when suddenly someone just got out from the C.R. He saw someone who seemed very familiar to him which driving him crazy.

"What should I do..." He was so nervous and wobbling.

"Ms. Can you give me my order now? Please" He said to the crew.

Crew: sorry sir but she said not to give you.

Joshua: Ah, sighs... Ok thank you.

He smiled to the crew but he looked so awkward with the situation.

Few minutes before.

Samantha: Ms. Can you give me two orders of pork belly, soup, sundae and two glasses of soda please.

Crew: Ok ma'am wait a second.

Samantha: by the way, can you do me a favor please. Someone will be here in a minute he is tall, wearing suit and he has a cute smile with deep dimples. When you see a normal-looking guy it's him don't hesitate. Please tell him I've ordered for him already.

As Joshua looking towards the direction where Samantha is there he is fighting with the nervousness he felt his face turned to red as he blushed. He is thinking of going to work rather than going to Samantha. He became shy and weaker when it comes to Samantha but on the other hand, he badly missed her and he's heart and mind pushes him to go towards her.

He sit on the chair beside Samantha facing the window.

Samantha: Ooh, Hello Josh

"I ordered you your favorite breakfast." She said.

Joshua cannot look to her eyes directly.

"No, I'm good. I've done my breakfast at home." Joshua replied.

Samantha pretended she did not know.

Samantha: Ah, is that so... I thought you came here to eat.

Joshua: No,... I always go here before and after work.

Samantha: What if someone lied to you? Will you be mad?

Joshua: Of course I will. Also when that person who lied is the most precious to me it'll be so confusing. Wait wait, what do you mean? I didn't lie to you. I never lied to you.

Samantha: yeah you haven't but I'm certain right now. You're lying.

Joshua: huh? Ho-how?

Samantha: I can read your mind. It's my talent so you can't deny it.

Samantha followed him after that encounter in the park that night to see where he lives and how's he's living. Early morning this day Samantha went outside of his apartment to check for him and she heard Joshua struggling preparing his breakfast.

"sighs... Why cooking always been hard to me? People say it's the very easiest food to make but there's no difference at all."

Joshua felt unease sitting beside her his heart beats faster and faster and he blushed too much and felt nervous.

Samantha: are you ok? Are you sick?

Samantha put her hand on Joshua's forehead down to his neck to check if he's sick.

Joshua felt sad and happy at the same time and it made him remember of a situation from the past.

At the Campus.

Tuesday, year 2001.

Joshua went out to his classroom after class, holding his umbrella and his bag on his back.

It was being broadcast on the weather updates that there will be a strong rainfall on the city that day and was about to develop as typhoon.

Joshua is well-aware about the rain to come that day. As he was walking in the school lobby, he saw Samantha there standing. She can't go out because of the strong rainfall.

Joshua went directly towards the direction where Samantha was standing and offered her his umbrella.

Joshua: Sam, here use it.

Samantha: huh?... But what about you?

Joshua: Don't worry about me I can manage myself.

Joshua ran straight towards the school-gate and lift his bag to cover up his head.

Wednesday morning, Samantha is looking for him to return the umbrella she barrow yesterday but unfortunately she did not see him around. However, Samantha is asking to Joshua's classmates about his whereabouts.

"Joshua did not come up today. He just sent an excuse letter. I've heard he has fever because he got home so wet yesterday." Joshua's classmate said.

Samantha felt sad after hearing it.

The next day morning, Samantha saw Joshua on the canteen from her classroom's window. She went out of their classroom and ran to the canteen.

When she reached there she saw Joshua eating his snack. She slapped his back many times.

Joshua was shocked when he turned and saw it's Samantha.

"Oh, Hi Sam." Joshua said.

Samantha slapped him again and begun to worry. She put her hand to Joshua's forehead down to his neck to check if he still has a fever.

" You left me your umbrella and ran straight! Then yesterday I've heard you were sick. How did you do that? You are so selfish!" Samantha said towards him while her tears began to flow down to her face. She worried a lot towards Joshua.

Samantha give him medicine and make sure Joshua will take them.

Samantha: Here, take these right now so you'll regain your good condition.

Joshua took the medicine and drink the water she gave. He felt very happy that day.

Samantha: oh, now I see your deep dimples again are you that happy because I brought you your favorite breakfast? Keep smiling then, I loved seeing it.

Joshua: ...

They eat their breakfast together and go to their work place after.

Joshua went home early after work and get his diary. Eventually, he saw the letter he wrote that day.

"October 10, 2001 Wednesday.

I was in the canteen earlier when someone slapped me at my back. It's so unusual to feel it but I am so happy that I have experience it. A feeling I can't never tell."

Then he started writing the new letter.

"You never changed. After what happened to us years ago. I did not expect I could see you again and feel your care towards me. After seeing you and ate with you earlier, it made me to remember about that day way back. It prompts me to miss everything from you. After all I'm still hoping for our chance to start falling into place again."

After writing, Joshua put his diary on the closet and went to the bathroom. He take a bath for minutes and go to his bed and sleep.

While he is sleeping, he dreamed of the past; the first time he saw Samantha Kate Baxter.

January 2001 first day of class.

Joshua doesn't always like first day of school. For him, those first days are the most boring day of the whole school year.

He is wearing his complete school uniform because of his mother. However, the uniform is perfectly fit on him and made look more formal and handsome.

"Woaah, you're now human." his mother said.

Joshua: Mama,... I can't go to school like this.

Mother: you should. It's good wearing uniform in first day.

Joshua: I look so odd.

"Nevermind, bye mom bye dad I gotta go now." He said to his parents.

As he is riding in a bus, he is thinking.

"Do I really need to go to school?" Joshua in his mind.

He never had a courage of going to school every first day ever since and also to that school since he is a newly transferred student in the campus. He dropped in front of the school-gate but he went to the park nearby.

As he is walking on the seaside, he saw a bench near to his position but there is already someone sitting there. But, he end up chosing to sit on the same bench because he thought when he is there already maybe the girl would feel awkward and leave. The girl beside him is wearing casual attire, holding her phone and chatting somebody. She's Lyn. Joshua on the other hand, is listening music through his Bluetooth headset.

Meanwhile, the two were busy there. Lyn is chatting on her phone while Joshua is listening music. Until all of a sudden Joshua hears a cute voice of a girl despite how loud the music of his headset was.

"Lyn" Samantha said.

Joshua slowly moved his head to look at the girl standing in front of them.

"The time freezed, the seas stopped moving, the surroundings begin to blur when I see you. Your hair sways by the winds. Your cute eyes and indescribable look had deeply rooted to my soul. That single glimpse on your face made me realize that this is more that just a love at first sight. When I first saw you I know you were the last girl I wanted to fall in love with."

Joshua did not moved even a single motion when he saw and keep staring to Samantha.

Samantha on the other hand noticed him but Joshua did not stop and keep gazing.

"Ouch" Joshua said after being hit on his face by the junk food thrown by Samantha to make him stop looking.
