Episode 1
Hailey's Childhood Hailey Montgomery was what one would call a privileged child. She had a near-perfect life, one many girls her age had only imagined. She was born into the honorable family of Montgomery. She was the only child and daughter of Richard and Elizabeth Montgomery, a young, almost mid-aged couple who had a novel-like love story. Well, they were quite wealthy and very openly in love. Richard, Hailey’s father, was an intelligent man who was good and witty at business. He had, as young as 24, helped his father hit a market investment that made the firm turn into a multi-billion-dollar empire. This made the Montgomery name equal to power and success. Elizabeth, on the other hand, made a name in modeling since she was beautiful, tall, and had the perfect model figure. Having won pageantry eight times, she is since retired and now goes around inspiring and training young people. She represented various charities and charitable events and was a well-celebrated philanthropist. She never let her commitments stop her from paying attention to her daughter Hailey. Beverly Hills was where the Montgomerys lived, in an exclusive luxury estate. Their mansion was grand, beautified by white-stone structures, which rose and adorned the pillars and manicured gardens; it looked so surreal. Being in their house seemed like being in a fictitious wealthy empire; that is how the janitors and gardeners who kept the place felt. It is so awe-inspiring. There is a long driveway that leads to the front entrance, where one can see, left and right, a collection of luxury cars. Inside was a very detailed home that was decorated elegantly. It had chandeliers that had crystals that dripped down, the floors of the house were polished, and it shone like new glass. Still on the house, inside there is a staircase that was so grand, it went up to the rooms. It was no doubt a home that royals lived in, and in this home was the little princess- Hailey. Hailey was very treasured by her parents because she was the only child they could bear. Her birth was so risky that her mother almost lost her life as her womb was damaged, so she can’t bear any more children. Her parents themselves had been high school sweethearts; they were that couple in High school that couldn’t be apart from each other. They had been inseparable since they were sixteen, and like most lovers that age, they had always dreamed of a big family. Fortunately, they were among the few lucky sweethearts that made it to marriage. It was heartbreaking for Hailey’s parents when they found out that they couldn’t conceive and bear more children, but instead of dwelling on their loss, they made sure to show all of their love and care to the treasure that life gave them, Hailey. She was their world and their miracle, and they ensured she always got whatever she needed. Because of that, right from when she could walk, Hailey was nurtured into perfection. She was also a unique child with blonde hair that was silky; this matched with her blue eyes, and she looked like a real-life doll. It was so outstanding that as a toddler, people usually stopped her in the street just to admire her, telling her how beautiful she looked. When she grew to be a teenager, she had formed into the beauty pageant, people were well turning heads to look at her wherever she went. In addition to her beauty, she carried a presence about her; she was confident, and she carried herself effortlessly and gracefully. A little more about Hailey was that she is a girly girl who embraced and craved all things girl, such as things that are pink and sparkly. Fashion was one thing she loved so much that she had loads of beautiful dresses that filled her enormous walk-in closet. She also loved and had handbags and shoes that most people cannot even imagine owning in their lifetime. Her room was what one would call a paradise for girls her age. It had soft pastel walls and oh! Her expensive makeup, which she used to touch up her natural beauty, then was her massive bed, which was all so pink, her best colour. She made it fluffy too, so it had that homely feel to it. With her Mom being a model, she went for a lot of shopping trips with her mom, making her love shopping so much. Each time they went, they would browse through the most exclusive boutiques on Rodeo Drive. Her mother assigned her a personal stylist, that made sure she saw styled trendy. But beyond the glitz and glamour, Hailey had quite a kind-heart, her parents made sure not to raise her spoilt, making her generous, thanks to carrying her along for the charity galas, and the volunteering her mom did at events, these events raised millions for people in need. So because of this her privileged life did not get to her head. Hailey had a warmth around her which caused people to move toward her. At her school where there were all rich and well to do in the society, she was popular especially because she was not spoilt and pompous. The boys in her school wanted to date her, and girls wanted to be friends with her, the teachers themselves admired her because of the poise and intelligence she carried. At Beverly Hills Academy the school where Hailey attends , it is a top private school for the children of the rich and famous, in the school, Hailey is an undisputed queen. She is the most popular girl, always surrounded by a group of admirers, effortlessly balancing her social life with her academics. Though she had her fair share of admirers, she had high standards. Her parents’ love story had set the bar impossibly high, and she refused to settle for anything less than a love that felt like destiny. Her life was perfect. Every day was effortless, every moment filled with luxury and admiration. She had never known struggle, never faced hardship. To her, the world was a beautiful, sparkling place where everything always worked out in her favor. But life had a way of surprising people. And soon, Hailey would find out that life is not always a perfect of fairy tales, storms always pull up and can happen out of nowhere. Hailey arrived at school in Beverly Hills Academy, as usual her presence always commanding attention and it happened again the moment she stepped through the grand glass doors. The school truly was a place of privilege, it was sleek and had modern design. The lawns were green and the floor was marble, the hallways was a proof to its exclusivity. The Tuition of the school alone was sufficient to buy a brand-new sports car; if one was to use it for that. This made sure that only the wealthiest in society and most elite students could dream of attending it. The only exceptions and one would agree, were the luckiest students were the two annual scholarships awarded every year, this was tradition that the school ensured to maintain as a way to give back to the society. "Hailey! Over here!" She turned and it was her best friend, Madison Caldwell, who was waving at her from their usual spot by the courtyard fountain. When they say ‘birds of a feather flock together’, this was a perfect case with Hailey and Madison. Madison was equally beautiful as Hailey, with her chestnut wavy hair, today she had on designer sunglasses, she truly was the only person in school who could match up to Hailey’s beauty. They had always walked together since she was in kindergarten, practically inseparable. Hailey smiled, as she made her way to with her designer heels clicking the stone pavement. “Hey, Mads,” she said as she slipped her arm through her friend’s. “I swear, Hailey if one more guy tries to ask you out, I’m surely going to charge them for breathing the same air you do,” Madison joked as she rolled her eyes. Hailey sighed. “You’d think they should have figured that out themselves by now.” It was not as if Hailey didn’t like all the attention. She actually had grown up with it, including by virtue of who are mother was, she had learned to navigate it like second nature. But when it came to boys, none of them ever really saw her. Not truly, most of them were in for the Montgomery name, the Montgomery wealth, the public glamor. She knew this and so wanted something real, a real love was all she dreamed about consistently the type her parents had and modelled, not with the fortune attached to them. As if they knew her thoughts a group of boys approached. Jordan Sinclair, who was the school’s star quarterback, he was leading the way with his usual overconfident smirk. “Hailey, have you got a minute?” She already had an idea what he wanted to say, to this she flashed him a polite smile that showed she was uninterested. “Not really, Jordan.” “Oh, come on,” he pressed on. “There’s actually a gala this weekend and My parents are hosting it, and I need someone to go with, and you are the perfect date. What do you say?” “Jordan I think you should find someone else.” Madison chuckled as Jordan faltered, he was clearly not used to rejection. Hailey simply turned away, her mind had already left the conversation. That was when she looked towards the announcement hall, where the notice boards were. She could spot a fresh announcement sheet had just been pinned up. “Come Maddy, lets go check it it out” as she pointed to the boards. “New scholarship exam,” Madison read aloud. “And just as always, there are two spots available.” Hailey looked at the flier and she weirdly felt a strange sense of anticipation. At Beverly Hills Academy, Scholarship students were rare. This was because the selection process for admitting participants was notoriously difficult, and those who made it through were undoubtedly exceptional. Her mind went to how scholarship winners were always looking different from the rest of them. They were obviously, not as rich and groomed as they were. But they displayed more determination, and were more driven academically. They had something the wealthy kids never did, they sort of carried an urgency to succeed. Hailey turned as she heard a voice behind. “were you thinking of applying?” Her gaze met that of a teacher, Mr. Reynolds, who everyone knew was very strict and had sharp intellect. Hailey found it funny as she let out a soft laugh. “Mr Reynolds, my parents would rather buy the school than let me apply for a scholarship because I have no need for it.” He off course knew this and gave her a knowing smile. “Well, let us get to see which people would get it this year.” As he walked away, Hailey still felt that same felling she had earlier, something about that scholarship gave her hope she couldn’t quite explain.
