Chapter 18

4146 Words
On Tuesday, Andrew took Sonia to the sea aquarium where they spent the entire day. From the moment Sonia saw all the different kinds of fish, her face lit up like the brightest ray of sunshine on a cloudy day. Andrew could not have hoped for a better response. He hung back and enjoyed her reaction to her surroundings. Sonia was like a little kid in an ice cream parlor, viewing all that they had to offer and enjoying the process of picking her favorite. She could not believe how thoughtful and caring Andrew was about her feelings for the things she loved. This caused her to think twice about letting him go, and the more she enjoyed the things he was doing, the more she wanted her marriage to last. She especially loved the whales and the dolphins. He made sure they were at the front to see both shows. Then Andrew took her for some late afternoon shopping, which she enjoyed, as he became more involved with selecting clothes and a crib, among other things, for the baby. Before the day was done, he took her to a little offbeat museum, which they both enjoyed very much. Later, they decided to stay in for dinner, which was all good because the baby had had enough. That night, Andrew curled up next to his wife and held her close. Wednesday was a bright sunny day with no clouds or rain in sight, but Sonia felt something was coming. She felt like a storm was brewing and not the natural kind. She pushed the thought away and enjoyed her day. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Leigh Lewis was visiting a very sick friend in Ocean City. She booked a hotel, deciding to stay a couple of days just to see her friend. It was early Tuesday morning, and she was coming out of Billy’s house when she caught a glimpse of someone who looked like Andrew. Taking another look, she realized that it was Andrew. He was with a very handsome, tall, well-built man. Leigh got excited and thought this was her chance to get him back. She wondered if he was in town on business and how she could hook up with him. She couldn’t believe how lucky she was. She was given another opportunity to get him back, and she would use it by doing all that she had as a woman to get her man back. Before she could get close, Andrew was shaking the man’s hand and getting into a rental car. Shuck, so close, but yet not so far. Leigh started planning. The town was not a large one, and there aren’t many hotels in this area, so she could check them out and see what she came up with. She smiled as she watched him drive away. It was hard letting him go, but by the time she finished with him, he'd be begging her to take him back. Leigh just knew that this time, they would be man and wife. She began to recall the reason they split in the first place. Oh, it was the fact that he was hiding something from her, and she knew it. She thought it was another woman, but when she found out that her hopes of having a family with him were nothing but smoke, she couldn’t deal with it and left. Even though they tried to make it work, she couldn’t live with the fact of not having his children, and he was willing to adopt and she was not. Leigh couldn’t get past the fact that he didn’t trust her with his little secret. Then, he became more and more distant from her. It was because his sister-in-law was pregnant. Andrew was more attentive to her and a friend of the family. He seems to develop a sixth sense towards pregnant women and their needs. How did things go so wrong between them? Was it because she could not understand his attraction to a pregnant woman or the fact he began doing so much for them and not with her? Whatever it was, she made a mess of things, and now he does not even acknowledge her. Leigh thought about all that she could have with Andrew and was willing to try and make it work with him. Well, she’ll see about that, she’s willing to fight for her man. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Andrew, not knowing that trouble was brewing, told Sonia that he was taking her out to dinner and a night on the town. Sonia couldn’t wait because it was wonderful being with Andrew and being a real couple. When he wasn’t there she missed him and when he was she couldn’t get enough of him. He was making it harder and harder for her to walk away or let go. The thing is, it seems so right, they are together and doing things for one another. She was growing more and more in love with him every moment. After dinner and some sightseeing of the nightlife in Ocean City, they headed back to the hotel. They entered the lobby of the hotel, and Andrew held Sonia close. Walking towards the elevators, Andrew caught a glimpse of a woman who looked like Leigh. It couldn’t be. He thought. Then, out of nowhere, someone tapped him on the back and said, “Hello Andrew, it's a wonderful surprise seeing you here?” Darn it, he thought, I don’t need this right now, not her, here. “Hey, Leigh... ! How nice to see you.” “It’s always nice seeing you. What are you doing here?” Leigh asked, wondering who this woman was next to her man. She was holding on to him tightly. Leigh realized by the way Andrew responded that he didn’t want to introduce her to the very pregnant young lady. Yet she was not going anywhere until she got some answers. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sonia noticed how tense Andrew had become, and she began to gently stroke his arm while moving closer; as if to protect him from this woman. Sonia had never seen Andrew like this and wanted to whisk him away. Andrew couldn’t believe that Leigh was standing in front of him at that very moment while he was with Sonia. He had to get her away from them. “Ah, Leigh, as always, your timing is impeccable. I’m here, why are you here?” He felt Sonia pulling on him gently. “I’m here visiting a friend and checking on some sites for a new office." She said, sounding perturbed and looking at Sonia. "Aren’t you going to introduce me to your friend?” Sonia had enough. She didn’t know who this woman was and didn’t care, but she was causing Andrew to get upset, and she was about to let her voice be heard. “Ah, I don’t know who you are...” Andrew interrupted. "Baby, let's go. Leigh, would you excuse us, please? Baby, come on.” He said, leading Sonia to the elevators. Once they reached the elevator, Andrew held Sonia's face, “I’ll be up as soon as I deal with this.” “Who is that?” Sonia asked jealously, that this woman was part of Andrew’s past and knew him better than she did. It hurt, and she was upset. “Someone from my past, but I’ll tell you about it later, okay.” “Promise . . . ?” She whispered, looking over at Leigh. Sonia was not going to sleep tonight until she knew who Leigh was to Andrew. “I promise," Andrew said, turning her face back to his. “I promise, now go.” Then Sonia surprised both of them. She became possessive. Reaching up, she pulled Andrew’s face to hers and kissed him passionately. When they were both breathless, she said, “I’ll be waiting.” Then got on the waiting elevator. Sonia just staked her claim. No one was going to come between her and Andrew. Andrew stood there watching Sonia until the elevator door closed. Did he just dream that Sonia kissed him? No, it was real. That kiss rocked Andrew to the core, and he loved the fact that Sonia was being protective of him when he was there to protect her. Andrew smiled and glowed all over. She was becoming more and more attached to him every day. He whispered, "I love you, Sonia." Then he headed back to Leigh. “My, my, my, aren’t we playing house? Was that little display for my benefit?” She said in anger. “What is going on here, Andrew?” “I don’t see how any of this is your concern. You had your chance and . . ." He took a breath. "Look, Leigh, things between us are over and have been for quite some time. I don’t and won’t explain anything I do any longer.” “My, why so defensive? Are you sleeping with her?” “That, dear Leigh, is none of your business. Why don’t we just stop right now.” Without another thought, Andrew turned and began to walk away. “Andrew, don’t you dear walk away from me. I’m not finished.” When he didn’t stop, she ran and grabbed him, “I still love you; please give us another chance.” “Begging doesn’t become you, Leigh. Look, I can’t do this anymore. All the going back and forth. I’m willing today, but not tomorrow's routine. I’m tired of it all, goodbye Leigh.” The best way to handle this was to walk away. His new life with Sonia and Terrence is waiting for him upstairs. “Is this baby yours?” She asked, waiting with bated breath. She could only hope that the answer would be no. “Yes, Leigh, the baby’s mine.” Now, maybe she’d get the picture and walk away gracefully. Leigh felt it, her heart ripping. A large boulder had just dropped on her dream of being with Andrew. The pain was unbearable, but she wouldn’t show it now, not in front of him or this crowd that had begun to gather. So Leigh just watched as the only man she loved and lost walked out of her life for good. No! No! No! She won’t accept this, not at all, and not like that. Things didn’t add up, and she was determined to find out just what was going on. Leigh decided to sulk later; right now, she had to find out who this woman was. Heading to the front desk, she asked the clerk on duty for Andrew’s room and who was staying there with him. The clerk had no answers for her, and anyone she spoke to wouldn’t give out any sort of information. No matter, there are other ways to find out what she needs to know. Leigh was hurt and on the warpath. It was time to pull out all the stops to find out what was going on in Andrew’s life. She knew that Andrew couldn’t have children, so how come he was claiming this child as his, she wondered. Could this woman be blackmailing him knowing that he wants children? She didn’t care. There was more fight left in her yet, and Leigh was determined to find out what was going on. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Andrew walked across the lobby to the elevators and let out the breath he was holding, hoping that Leigh wouldn’t cause any more of a scene than she already had. It was not in his nature to be mean or to purposely hurt someone, but Sonia and Terrence meant everything to him, and he’d do what was necessary to protect them with his life. Once he reached his room, Andrew took some time before opening the door. What was he going to say to Sonia? How was he going to explain his past without telling her his secret? He knew that Sonia would be on the other side waiting for an explanation. Did he have one? Was he ready to reveal his past to his future? He didn’t get an answer, but he had to tell her something. To his surprise, she was not sitting on the couch waiting for him. Good, Andrew thought now he could breathe. As he walked into the bedroom, Andrew noticed that Sonia was in a deep sleep and on his side of the bed. He refuses to wake her. First thing, he took a shower. Then Andrew stood on the balcony of his hotel room in just his silk PJ bottoms, leaning on the rail with a glass of scotch in his hand. He has a lot on his mind as he looks out at the city all lit up with heavy thoughts plaguing him. He began to ponder for the last hour or so, Leigh showing up and all. It seems he’s destined to bump into Leigh no matter what. The one thing that bothered him was the fact that Sonia didn’t know about his problem and that she could decide their future together, whether she stayed or went. Andrew wanted to be the one to tell Sonia, but he wasn’t ready yet. Darn, but he should tell her now before it’s too late and before someone else from his past pops up out of the blue. He thought while taking another drink. Then he turned his head and looked over his shoulder at her; gosh, she was everything he wanted and needed in his life right now and if he ever was to lose her and Terrence, he couldn’t begin to fathom how he would react or feel. Allowing those thoughts to pass, Andrew smiled, she looked so lovely sleeping there with no care in the world, and then he looked back out at the city. His only wish was that it didn’t happen. His problem . . . As a child, he had an accident, and the doctors told his parents that he would never have children. Oh, he’s had several surgeries to correct the problem, but no luck. All Andrew has now is that he hopes that God made a mistake. Andrew felt miserable because he was deceiving himself and Sonia. What if she wants more children? What will he do then? Sonia stirred, then moaned, and then began thrashing about on the bed. It seemed she was fighting in her sleep. Once she yelled out, Andrew moved quickly and began to calm her down. “Sonia, baby, it’s just a dream; baby, please wake up.” Coming out of her sleep, Sonia looked at Andrew and then began to cry. In her dream, he was gone, leaving her and Terrence alone. His past came to reclaim him. She can’t lose him. “Baby, what is it?" Andrew got scared. "Sonia, I’m here, don’t cry, it’s okay. Baby, what is it? Was it the dream again about your dad? Tell me.” He said with a smile. Sonia shook her head no. “It seems like every time I get close to having what I want it’s taken away from me.” “Honey, no one’s going to take our baby away. Believe me.” Not as long as I'm your husband. No one will ever hurt her again. “What if I’m not good at this, Andrew? What, then?” “You’re going to be great, and I’ll be there to help, remember.” Sonia sighed, she didn’t want her dream to be true. “Andrew, please hold me and don’t let go.” Sonia came into his arms. Andrew leaned up against the headboard and held Sonia as close as possible. Thinking she forgot he heard… “So, who’s Leigh, and what does she want?” Sonia asked out of the blue. Andrew thought she had forgotten. “She’s my ex-girlfriend. We had a long-term relationship, but it wasn’t meant to be.” “So what happened?” Sonia didn’t know if she wanted to hear this, but she had to. “Nothing; everything; it just got to the point that it couldn’t be saved. She might try to get information from you...” “Andrew, I can handle myself, believe me.” He laughed, “I know you can, I just don’t want you to deal with that part of my life.” “It’s a part of you. Why wouldn’t I want to deal with it,” Sonia said as she began unintentionally running her palms up and down Andrew’s chest. This started a chain reaction in both of them. Sonia inhaled his scent, which became intoxicating. Sonia wants him to make love to her more than ever but is afraid to say so. Andrew grew excited because she was turning him on more and more at each touch. He then started running his fingers through her hair. It felt great, and she moved up closer to his face and slightly turned her body into his. Andrew looked down at her and knew that tonight he would make love to his wife. He reached out and pulled the ribbon from her negligee, and Sonia froze. “You know, there are things that I neglected to do as a husband.” “Yeah, and what’s that?” She asked in anticipation. “Make love to my wife.” He said, moving the straps of her negligee off her shoulders. Sonia inhaled a sharp breath and held it, waiting to see what Andrew would do next. Andrew showed her just what he intended to do. He gently places kisses just above her breast as he moves the negligee further down her body. Sonia let out a breath while enjoying the tingling sensation that was cursing through her body. Andrew watches every emotion that crosses her face and revels in the fact that he is the cause of such feelings. He wants to do more but didn’t want to cause him any discomfort, so he gently licks her n*****s. Sonia moans and groans, enjoying the wonderful sensations Andrew’s causing in her. Then he kissed her with every ounce of his being, which was exceptional, a kiss that left them both breathless. Not even Alec caused her to feel like that. Oh darn, why did she have to think about him right now? Andrew was about to send her on a trip to the moon. Her whole mood changed. Andrew noticed the change and said, “Don’t think right now, just feel.” He kissed her forehead, then her nose, and then he kissed her ears, which was a very weak point for Sonia. She lost all control of her senses. That caused his body to react out of control, and he had to slow it down. He didn’t want tonight to go so quickly or to mess up things between him and Sonia. Andrew enjoyed kissing her because she could rock him with a kiss. Those full luscious lips were calling to him, and he answered the call. Sonia couldn’t believe this night, but she'd wanted this for so long, and now she didn’t want him to ever stop loving her like that. Andrew looks at her and realizes that he loves her even more, and then he lowers his head and kisses her swollen belly. Sonia didn’t know how she would react to him kissing her stomach, but it turned her on, and she desired him even more. Andrew kissed her everywhere he could and then looked up at Sonia. She was radiant, and he wanted her so much. Sonia looked into Andrew’s eyes and felt loved. She couldn’t say no, not even if her mind said so. Tonight, they are going to make love no matter what her mind says. Andrew and Sonia lay there totally naked to each other, and with one look and one touch, they went up in flames. Andrew entered his wife as slowly and as gently as he can without losing his mind. Sonia couldn’t get enough of him. She gave him as much as he gave her, and she was lost to Andrew. She was totally in love with this man and everything about him. She couldn’t let him go if she wanted to, not yet. Andrew enjoyed loving his wife. It was simply wonderful, but he didn’t do all he wanted to do for her and would have to wait until after the baby. Once they were both satisfied, they slept. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ When he woke up the next morning feeling glorious, wonderful, and totally in love with his wife, Andrew reached out for Sonia, but she wasn’t there. Andrew jumped up and began to search for her. He found her in the living room with the new laptop he had brought for her. Andrew smiled while leaning on the doorpost just watching her type away. Then he walked up behind her and kissed her ever so gently on her neck. Sonia jumped, holding both her stomach and her heart. “An-drew don't do that. You scared me and Terrance.” She looked up at him and smiled. “Good morning.” “Why are you out of bed so early?” “I was inspired and wanted to get my thoughts down on paper before I forgot them.” “What did you come up with?” “You’ll just have to wait and see. Want some breakfast, I ordered.” “Umm, I want my wife to come back to bed.” He said, stretching, wanting to make love to her again and again. Last night was more than she dreamed, but they have to face reality. “Andrew I... Look, last night was wonderful, but—.” “No, don’t do this right now, let’s just enjoy all that is happening between us, okay? Please don’t go there.” “Okay, ah Malcolm called. He wanted to know what you have planned for today.” “Whatever you want to do, that is what we will do.” He asked, leaving the day up to her. “I have no thoughts, so whatever you want to do, we’ll do.” She didn’t want to push it. “Sonia, this is about you, for you, so what do you want to do today? If you want, we can go shopping.” He wished she would relax and let him do that for her. Sonia needed some time to think, so she said, “No you go see what Malcolm wants’.” “Are…you…sure I can always see Malcolm a little later.” He was hoping for a no so he could spend more time with her. “Yes, I’m sure. Besides, I want to get some more typing done.” Sonia didn’t know how to handle his towering presence right now, so maybe it was best if he was out of the room today. Andrew was frustrated because he wanted to spend the day with her. He knew she was thinking about last night and was possibly regretting it. He didn’t want her to. Sonia didn’t say anything else. She just went back to typing. Her thoughts were reeling. She and Andrew consummated their marriage. This was supposed to be a marriage in name only. How in the world did it all get so complicated? How is she going to handle this? It’s a complication she does not want or did she? Sonia wanted what Andrews had to offer, but would he be like her father, who didn’t want her, or Alec, who just took what she offered and then walked away? This was where Sonia’s mind took her to the past. She has to put it out of her mind and try to do some sightseeing on her own and some shopping. As he was about to leave, she kissed him goodbye and then went back to work. Andrew wanted to scream. She was doing it again, shutting him out and putting up barriers. This was a unique opportunity for him to do some thinking. He called Malcolm but could not get a hold of him. Andrew and Sonia ended up spending part of the day together. He finally got in touch with Malcolm, who told him to meet him at the property to do some work, and then they had lunch. Andrew sat there not saying a word, but Malcolm could see he needed to talk and said, “Wanna talk about it?” Andrew bears his soul to his best friend. He began to tell him the situation between him and Sonia and what happened last night with Leigh. Mal tried to give Andrew what advice he could, and he felt Andrew’s pain because it was obvious to see and hear how much Andrew loved Sonia. He only wishes he could find that kind of love someday.
