Chapter 6

As Emily worked closely with Alex, she found herself falling deeper under his spell. Despite his tough exterior, she saw glimpses of kindness and vulnerability.

One night, as they worked late, Alex turned to her with a hint of a smile. "You're doing great, Emily. I don't know what I'd do without you."

Emily's heart skipped a beat. "Thank you, Alex. That means a lot coming from you."

Their eyes met, and for a moment, the air was charged with tension. Emily felt herself leaning in, drawn to Alex's magnetic presence.

Then, suddenly, Alex looked away, clearing his throat. "Let's get back to work."

Emily's face flushed with embarrassment. Had she really just almost kissed her boss?

But as the days went by, Emily couldn't shake off the feeling that Alex felt the same way. She caught him looking at her, his eyes lingering on her face.

One night, as they left the office together, Alex turned to her and asked, "Would you like to grab dinner with me, Emily? Just the two of us."

Emily's heart raced. Was this a date? And if so, was she ready to cross the line with her boss?
