Emily's life took a drastic turn. While grocery shopping, she was lost in thought, replaying her moments with Alex. Suddenly, a speeding car struck her.

Witnesses screamed as Emily's body flew through the air. Rushed to the hospital, her condition was critical.

Alex's world crumbled when he received the news. He rushed to the hospital, his heart racing.

"Emily!" Alex cried, holding her hand. "Please, don't leave me."

Victoria, the mastermind behind the accident, watched from the shadows, a wicked grin spreading across her face.

"Perfect," Victoria whispered. "Now Alex will be mine."

Doctors fought to save Emily, but her prognosis was grim.

Alex's eyes blazed with determination. "I'll find out who did this."

Victoria's smile faltered, knowing she'd soon be exposed.

Emily's eyes fluttered open, but her gaze was empty. Alex's heart sank as he gazed at her, his mind racing with fear.

"Emily, it's me, Alex," he whispered, holding her hand tightly. "You're safe now. You're in the hospital."

Emily's expression remained blank, her eyes scanning the room without recognition.

"Who...who are you?" Emily stammered, her voice barely above a whisper.

Alex's world crumbled. Emily had lost her memory. The doctors explained that her amnesia was temporary, a result of the head trauma from the accident.

"But how long?" Alex pressed, desperation creeping into his voice. "How long until she remembers?"

The doctor's expression was sympathetic. "It's difficult to predict. We'll need to run more tests, but with time and rest, her memories should return."

Alex nodded, trying to process the news. He had come so close to losing Emily, and now this.

As he sat beside Emily's bed, holding her hand, Victoria seized the opportunity. Disguising herself as a nurse, she entered the room with a warm smile.

"Alex, dear, I'm so sorry about Emily," Victoria said, her voice dripping with fake concern. "Perhaps I can help you cope? You must be exhausted."

Alex's instincts screamed warning, but his desperation for Emily's recovery clouded his judgment. He needed someone to talk to, someone who understood.

"Thank you," Alex said, his voice cracking. "Just being here for Emily means everything."

Victoria's eyes sparkled with triumph as she poured Alex a cup of coffee.

"I'll stay with Emily while you take a break," Victoria suggested, her tone innocent.
