As Alex pondered Victoria's offer, Emily stirred in her bed.
"Alex?" Emily whispered, her eyes locked on his.
Alex's heart skipped a beat. "Emily, do you remember me?"
Emily's gaze faltered. "I...I don't know."
Alex's determination strengthened. He would help Emily regain her memories, no matter what.
Victoria's smile hid her frustration. She needed to keep Alex distracted and Emily confused.
"I'll let you two have some time together," Victoria said, her voice dripping with false sincerity. "I'll check on you later, Alex."
As Victoria left, Alex sensed unease.that something doesn't seem right
Alex's unease grew as Victoria left the hospital room. He couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.
That night, Alex received a chilling text:
"Drop the investigation. Forget Emily. Or else."
The message was anonymous, but Alex knew Victoria's involvement.
Alex's determination hardened. He wouldn’t back down.
The next day, Emily began experiencing fragmented memories. She recalled snippets of conversations, laughter, and moments with Alex.
"Alex, I remember something," Emily said, her eyes sparkling. "A rooftop, sunset...you proposed."
Alex's heart swelled. "That's right. You said yes."
Emily's smile faltered. "But what happened? Why can’t I remember everything?"
Alex hesitated, unsure how much to reveal.
Alex received a cryptic letter:
"You're in danger. Trust no one."
Alex's instincts screamed warning. He felt eyes watching him.
With Emily still recovering, Alex knew he had to protect her. He decided to give Victoria temporary control of his company, hoping to keep Emily safe.
"Victoria, I need your help," Alex said, trying to sound convincing. "Manage the company while I care for Emily."
Victoria's smile hid her triumph. "Of course, Alex. I'll take care of everything."
Unbeknownst to Alex, Victoria was secretly selling company secrets to Alex's rival, Marcus.
Marcus rubbed his hands together. "This information will crush Alex's empire."
Victoria's eyes gleamed with malice. "And Emily will be mine."
As Alex focused on Emily's recovery, he remained oblivious to Victoria's betrayal.
Emily, still regaining memories, began noticing strange occurrences.
"Alex, I think someone's watching us," Emily said, her voice trembling.
