Tracy woke up with a pounding headache, it took her a while to get her eyes opened. A large sneeze followed. Her throat was scratchy and her eyes felt swollen and sore. She felt weak and was suddenly hit by a bright light above. She tried to sit up but she couldn't. Her eyes adjusted to the light then she took in her surrounding. A large room that had warm cream and brown colours. She slowly sat up, the very soft pillows sinking with the pressure she put on them to sit up. She saw the bed itself. A huge king sized bed that could fit more than five of her comfortably in it.
Where was she? She felt a stinging pain in her abdomen, she really needed to use the restroom but how did she get here in the first place?
Then suddenly everything came rushing back like a slap in the face. Her job. Her home. All gone. She remembered it raining but still not sure how she got here.
Oh God, she hoped she hadn't been kidnapped.
The sting hit her again. Ok she wasn't going to ruin these sheets even though it was for her kidnapper. She jumped up, her bare feet made contact with the soft and warm rug. She could barely walk to the door she assumed was the bathroom. She stumbled there and opened the door, it was a bathroom, a built in one, what sort of luxury is this or is she in heaven. She wasn't sure. She sneezed again painfully.
The interior of the bathroom was modern and shiny, she spotted a very large tub that sat in the middle of the bathroom facing a ceiling to floor window that replaced the entire side of that wall, a ceiling shower, then she saw the toilet, her bladder sang for praise.
By the time she was done, she flushed and went to splash little water on her face, then she walked back into the room and still no one was there. Ok she was scared now. She decided to explore, she saw another door.
When she saw that it was a walk in closet, she wondered the kind of luxury she was in. It was so huge, almost the size of her whole apartment. It was empty. She saw a full length mirror attached to the wall. She took in herself, she couldn't remember the last time she checked a mirror but as she looked at herself, she cringed. Hard.
She had dark eye bags, she looked skinny and her hair was everywhere. In three words,
She looked horrible.
"Oh good, I thought you escaped" a deep voice said.
Tracy's heart nearly jumped out of her skin "Oh my God" she screeched.
"I'm Travis but God will do. I'm glad that at least not only me thinks I look like a God. I mean look at this handsome face" he smiled and winked but Tracy was left speechless with the sight in front of her.
Calling him handsome would have been an understatement. His eyes were the ones that caught her attention first, it was a very beautiful turquoise green, a lighter shade which made it bright and shiny. The brightness and beauty that swirled in his eyes reminded her of her lovely childhood memories. He was about six feet and a few inches tall. He was built but not too much, his shirt was like a second skin on his defined torso. His tight jeans hugged his lean thighs, she was almost drooling. When he noticed her staring, he grinned she turned red.
" I... I" she turned redder when she realized she was stammering and he started to laugh like he knew why she was stuttering. His voice sounded deep and smooth.
"What's so funny?" Tracy managed to snap, her face was so hot.
"Oh nothing, but I didn't catch your name since you were taking a nice nap out in the rain, I decided not to disturb you by waking you up. Not like you cared since you were out cold" He had a cute smile on his face.
Tracy couldn't have turned any redder.
" I...I have no idea" She didn't remember falling to the ground, did some one hit her, she was not sure, when she tried thinking further, her head seemed to hurt.
" I don't remember taking any nap, who are you?" Tracy squeezed her face in confusion.
"You're welcome, and as I said earlier am Travis but if you still wish to call me God, I really don't mind... You know-" but he was interrupted by Tracy
"Where am I ?" Tracy said, she was feeling weirdly safe and she didn't like it.
"Oh, you're at my house."
"Your what?" She asked suprised
"House"
"House?"
"Do you have a problem with hearing?" He asked with a real concerned look on his face.
She couldn't have been more embarrassed. "I was just surprised, that's all"
"Oh, well I'm waiting" he said watching her intensely.
"Uh? For what?"
"Your name" he said trying to hold himself from rolling his eyes.
"Tracy....why am I even telling you, you might be a serial killer for all I know" she said picking at the hem of her shirt.
He let out a dry laugh. "What would a serial killer be doing with someone that already had a death wish?".
She turned her face away and scoffed. She picked roughly at the hem of her shirt. It felt so soft and thick. Wait a second. Soft and thick? She snapped her gaze to her shirt. It definitely wasn't hers. Only then did she realize she was wearing a person's boxers too. She wished the earth could swallow her right now.
"Who changed my clothes?" She barely whispered looking at him.
He seemed to catch her question and scratched his neck uncomfortably.
"About that... look, I swear I'm not a pervert or something, I just couldn't leave you in your wet clothes. It would have given you a bad cold and besides I have my best friend staying with me, it had to be me or him. Also, I couldn't leave you in your underwear, that would have been pretty worse. He stopped talking when he realized she was pale and had a deadly look on a face.
"And you couldn't take me to the hospital or something instead of your house? That would have prevented any form of taking my clothes off, don't you think?" she said trying to look for any alternative he could have done than undressing her, then she remembered she had no money. She remembered she didn't have a job, she didn't have a home. She had nothing.
"Hey, hey, don't cry-" he said moving close to her not knowing if he could touch her or not. She didn't even realize that she was crying. "- I'm so sorry, I promise I didn't touch you inappropriately. Please don't cry, it's not even that of a big deal." He said and she rose her gaze to him not knowing when he even came closer to her. She wanted to tell him that she wasn't crying because of that but she couldn't say anything without releasing a broken sob.
Travis felt really guilty. He instantly crouched infront of her and clasped her tiny hands in his. "I'm so sorry....I didn't mean to make you cry, I really don't know how to make you believe me. I promise I didn't touch you inappropriately."
She laughed through her tears and dragged her hand out of his. Then she started crying again. Before he could do anything anything drastic again she spoke "It's not you. " she hiccuped.
"It's not me?" He asked confused.
"It's not you, it's just... nothing" she said closing her eyes to take back her tears and control her breathing.
"What's wrong" he said with a concerned look on his face.
She'd have told him to take her back home but she didn't have one. At the same time, she didn't want to be a burden to anyone.
"I want to leave" she stated.
"In this condition, why don't you rest a little, then if you feel okay, I could take you home."
"I'm fine, just bring my clothes. I want to go." She said covering her face because she didn't trust herself not to cry in front of him again.
"Okay, just give me the address then I'll drop you off at your place"
"No" she immediately said which made Travis confused.
"No?"
"I don't want you to take me, I'll go myself"
"You don't even know where we are" he said getting confused.
She paused "Then I need a favor from you, I will go with an Uber or a cab, I just want you to pay for it, I promise to pay you back." She said, the lie coming through her teeth bitterly. Immediately she leaves, she'd probably go back to her boss' place to beg him again and resume to pay off her pending debts and bills
"Why take a Uber, what's wrong with me taking you"
"Please, ok? Just do me this one favor."
"Yeah sure, your address?" He asked with a smirk on his face after taking out his phone and typing something to someone fast.
"Uh.. just drop me at the Central park"
"Why, what's the problem?"
She sighed in frustration. "Please can you stop asking so many questions, you're giving me a headache"
Then suddenly a guy opened the main door of the room and smirked at them.
"I know why she doesn't want to go home. " The guy made eye contact with her looking directly at her soul.
"It's because she doesn't have one. "
