Malcolm
I wonder did my father even notice that I had not spoken a word for over the last hour. He was sounding more and more like a madman with each and every private talk that he had with me. Every since the wolf's council had taken his crown, he was constantly looking for someone to blame. Each day, that someone would change. One day it was the Spane family, The next day it would be Breonna and Enza. He had even tried to blame baby Janae at one point.
The fact that he blamed Janae really concerned me. Everyone else that he placed blame on was more than capable of defending himself. As soon as I could get Enza and Breonna alone, I would tell them my concerns. "Malcolm! are you listening." Percivus shouted. I looked at him and said, "Yes Father, I am listening. "Paul is still an Alpha, even though he was convicted of using human weaponry. He should be dead!!" Percivus said sounding deranged. "Do you think that is fair Malcolm?" He asked me. "I don't know, I was not there." I answered dryly.
"Every father should be able to give his wife and children their wants and needs, but because Silas stole the crown from me, he took away my ability to provide. They even stole our pack. A wolf cannot survive without a pack." He growled and pounded on the table. "Father, what do you mean that we do not have a pack? The pack carries our name and bloodline." I pointed out. My father gave a humorless laugh, "You fool yourself, that is Paul's pack, not yours. You and I are just alike, We have absolutely nothing!" He said sounding a bit crazed.
"You have nothing to worry about though. I promised you that you have nothing to worry about didn't I?" He said with a smile on his face. "Hear me out, it is going to require some sacrifices, but we will be protected and we will have our royal status." He looked at me," Do you care to thank me now, or later?" He asked me. I looked at the deranged look in his eyes, "Later" I told him. It did not matter what I said because he was still rambling on and on.
"I made an agreement with the Silver Moon Pack." He said proudly. I could not believe what I was hearing. It was clearer to me than ever. My father had lost his mind. "You can't be serious?" I asked him. "I know that it is going to require some sacrifices." He said. The best news is yet to come. "I have arranged for you and the oldest daughter Melanie to be married in four months.
I felt the blood rush out of my face. "You What!!!" I roared. "His oldest daughter has not found her mate yet and she is anxious to get married and have children." Percivus said, oblivious to my anger. I was slowly trying to breathe. I understood that loosing the crown upset him. We were still very much part of the royal family. He had gone to far.
"Father, I will NOT marry this woman, that is final. We had discussed this before. I get to choose who I will spend my life with. If you want to join that murderous pack, then go ahead, but I won't have any parts of it!" I snarled at him.
I watched his face become red with anger. "You have no choice. I sealed our agreement with blood." He said with a smug grin on his face. In all my life, I had never been so angry with my father. I was raised to respect my parents, but this was more than I could take. I was ready to leave and meet my mom downstairs and get out of this place for a few hours.
"What is all this yelling about? I can hear you two all the way to the kitchen." Madeline asked. Percivus turned to face my mom. "Your son has no appreciation or respect for what I do for him. I have tried to keep our royal status. He will not listen to reason because YOU spoiled him all of his life. He cannot understand what is at stake!" He shouted.
"You decided my future without asking me. You went back on your word. You tell me to respect you, but I don't even see my father anymore. You are a man obsessed. All you care about is titles. You don't give a damn about us." I snarled at him
"Wait! What is going on?" Madeline asked. "Your husband arranged a marriage for me with one of the most violent, inhumane packs known. The silver moon pack!" I snapped. I watched my mother's jaw drop.
"There is nothing that you can do or say about it. Once Maddie gives her blood signature, you have to marry her." My father said.
My mother turned to look at me, the way that she always did when she wanted the absolute truth from me. "Malcolm, is this what you want?" She asked. I looked at her straight in the eye, "No, I do not want this. I want my heavenly chosen mate only." I told her. She nodded, "Then I will not sign." She said.
Percivus let out a loud roar. "I need to speak to my wife alone." He snarled. Any other time, I would not have minded, but my father was a different man. I would leave, but I would not go far.
Madeline
I watched him pace "I am your husband, and you will never agree with me on anything!' He snapped. His little husband speech did not work on me anymore "All you do is gossip and sip tea with the very people that betrayed us." He said. I could feel my temper increasing with every single one of his words. "When are you going to start acting like a wife and compromising." He snapped and shook his head
"Interesting words you are picking, compromising and betrayal. Of course let us not forget husband." I snapped. "When was the last time you acted like my husband? When was the last time that you even touched me? When was the last time that we even had a meal together. Be careful of the words you use, because you are lacking my dear" I said
He looked at me with a dry laugh, " F***ing a woman that is prim and proper all the time is boring. Have you thought of reading a book? Maybe you can learn how to please your husband and I would want to touch you." He sneered at me. For some reason, it did not hurt anymore. I did not expect anything good to come out of his mouth. He was not the man that I married. I simply shrugged and picked up my fur half coat. At that moment he noticed what I was wearing. "Where the hell do you think you are going?" He said.
I made a great show of clutching my pearls, "Isn't it obvious? I am going to find a man that wants this prim and proper p***y of mine." I gave him a little smile and began to walk out the door. He grabbed me by the arm, ignoring Malcolm's protective growl, "If I ever smell another man on you, I will kill you and him. He said. I turned and looked at him. "Sweetheart, don't be like that, after all I have scented another b***h on you for the last year and I did not get violent. Must be because I am so prim and proper." I said, with that, I walked out of the door.
