Chapter 3

Breonna "I am hoping that we timed this just right." I said, glancing from the door to the stairwell." If we timed this exactly right, then Madeline and Malcolm would be just arriving as Carmen would make her entrance coming down the stairs." I glanced at Pauline, Enza and Ahrayna. They were all as excited and nervous as I was right now. We had spent the last two hours trying to explain to Carmen what to expect. She looked interested, but she did not seem as excited as we were. I knew that was about to change. The only people that had seen her all dolled up was my self and my sister. I looked across the room. Although the men knew that we were waiting to see if Malcolm and Carmen were mates. They seemed like they would rather be anywhere else but sitting there waiting. To be honest, they looked like they were bored out of their minds. We were excited out of our minds. When Maddie came up beside up. I knew that Malcolm had to be somewhere near. Ahrayna That's when she entered the steps, "Wow, girls, she looks incredible!" I said to the twins.  They had dressed her in a caramel color floor length, body hugging skirt and the crop top showed ample side boob and was lined in clear rhinestones. Her beautiful long black hair was wavy and with one side pinned to the back. She looked like a vision of loveliness.  Every man's eyes in the room were glued to her.  Except for four of them that were quickly going into overprotective mode, They were looking at every man in the room with narrow threatening eyes. I tapped Pauline on the shoulder and pointed at our men.  She rolled her eyes to the ceiling and made her way to them quickly. She kissed Fenris on the cheek, "Do not make a scene. Please." Pauline said "Who picked out her clothes." Andre asked. "Your wife and her sister! Now behave, not another word" I said. I smiled at the beautiful vision walking our way. She had overcame so much in a year. The first time that I had seen her, she was so unsure of herself, she had fear in her eyes constantly. Now she was more confident and had a beautiful sense of humor. The thing that stood out about her the most was her honesty. I never met a person with such pure honesty in my life. The thought that she could possibly be Malcolm's chosen mate brought warm tears to my eyes. They would be the perfect match for one another. I looked at the room and could see the entire family was looking from Malcolm to Carmen and waiting for that moment when their eyes would finally meet. It felt like she was moving in slow motion. In my mind, I was screaming for her to walk faster. I was anxious to know. When I saw Malcolm sit beside his uncle, I knew he would not miss seeing her.  Malcolm did not look up until she reached the bottom step. It was such a beautiful sight to see. Carmen froze and her beautiful face had a light flush to cover it. Malcolm stood like she was pulling him to her as his hand cupped her face. Knowing looks were thrown to one another. Out of nowhere, a very handsome young man came up to Carmen, " May I have this dance?" Remembering her training,  She smiled and gave a slow nod. We all heard the menacing growl coming form Malcolm. "Hell no, She is mine" He snarled. Andre leaned back in his chair, "Guess that answers our question. Anyone else have a question?" He asked amused. Enza rolled her eyes at her husband and approached Malcolm. She took his hand and got an immediate possessive growl from Carmen. "Carmen, I just want to remind him of something." Enza jerked her hand back startled "He is my cousin." She said.  " You can tell him what you have to say without touching him." Carmen snarled at her. Andre started to laugh, "Well seems like my wife had a question, anyone else?"  It was wonderful seeing all our children have a good time. It was even better news to see that it appeared that Carmen and Malcolm were indeed mates. I could not help but notice the sadness in Maddie's eyes and even some fear. I watched her say something to my husband and an immediate frown went across his face. He looked toward me and signaled me to join them.  I did not like this at all.  Madeline I felt my nerves firing all over my body.  Considering the way that my husband had been acting for the last year, I had to do this to protect my son and his future.  I had allowed Percivus to take away my happiness. I would rather die a painful death than let him hurt my son in any way.  I watched Ahrayna and Silas walk into the room with concerned looks on their face. As soon as they walked in and shut the door, I started to blurt everything out. "I need a protection of signature, blood and written filed with the council immediately." I said. "How soon can I get it?" I asked. Silas frowned, "I can get you one now, but as your King, Maddie I have to know why." He said. I looked at Ahrayna with pleading eyes. She knew a lot of what was going on, but I did not feel comfortable discussing those things with Silas. He glanced from me to his wife, "I know that some of these things may be embarrassing for you, but if anything could possibly put the kingdom in danger, then I need to know it. If there is anything to put Malcolm in danger then I need to know that as well." When he saw the look on my face, I knew that he immediately knew that he was very close to being right. " I need to hear it Maddie, from beginning to the end" Silas said leaning back into the chair.
