Madeline
I paced back and forth. A part of me wanted to blurt out everything and finally get everything off of my shoulders. The bigger part of me felt embarrassment because I was unable to keep my own mate interested enough to stay in our bed. I also knew that if I did not get this taken care of tonight then it would give Percivus more time to hurt Malcolm or myself.
"It is a very long story, but I will try to be as brief as possible." I said. Percivus became a different person after the council gave you the crown." I explained. "For lack of a better word, he became obsessed to the point that I would say that he was deranged. Everything was about getting power and a title." I said.
"Tonight, he informed us that he had made and agreement with the most dangerous pack in the territory. The Silver Moon Pack." I saw their shocked looks from the corner of my eye but I decided to continue." He said that he had made a blood oath with the Alpha of the Silver Moon Pack to marry Malcolm to the oldest daughter Melanie, but he need my blood to seal the pack. This is something that Malcolm and I are opposed to." I said
"But you are afraid that Percivus will attempt to force you or manipulate your blood in some way?" Silas asked. Ahrayna frowned, " I thought that the Silver Moon Pack was sanctioned by the council a while ago. They are never allowed to make blood packs." She said with a confused look in her eye. "They are" Silas said, " Yet that would not stop them. if they made a blood deal with Percivus and he backed out of it, the killing would never stop until they were satisfied that all members of the family was dead." Silas said. I could not help but gasp. I did not know that part at all. It made me even more desperate to get whatever documentation that I could possibly get to protect ourselves.
Silas
I ran my hand through my hair, I knew that my brother loved the appearance of power, but this was a whole new level of danger. Percuvis was not a trained warrior. I could not even remember a battle that he had ever been in. A pack like the Silver Moon Pack was not known for training anyone, especially a middle aged wolf. Chances are that they would have gotten the blood oath, married Malcolm to his daughter and killed Percuvis. It is still very possible. that they would kill Percuvis regardless of the blood oath.
"Maddie, Do Percivus know that Malcolm is next in line for the throne?" I asked, because something was not right. She looked at me ,"No." she said. I looked at her." What?!! Why not?" I asked. "Maybe this Silver Moon nonsense would have never happened if he knew that in less than a year that he would be father to the king." Silas stood up and had one of the servants to bring the elders up to get their signature and seal.
He walked back in, "Maddie, I am waiting for an answer." I demanded. I did not miss the looks that was exchanged between my wife and Maddie. I was definitely missing something. I did not like it at all. This foolishness could put my nephew and goddaughter in danger. The Silver Moon Pack was not going to ignore the promise that my brother made them. Legal or not.
I continued to write out the documents as I watched the silent exchange go on in between my wife and Madeline. I know that neither one of them really expected me to just let it go. Especially not something this important. I heard a tap on the door. I got up and opened the door and let the three elders in. I showed them the papers that I had quickly drawn up.
I watched as they went through the papers. Each of them signing and sealing it as they went, "Do you want these filed at the council?" One of them asked. "Yes I would, and if possible, can I get two copies of each?" The elder nodded and sit and began working on the paperwork.
Ahrayna had relaxed and so had Maddie. I smiled to myself. I think the both of them forgot how persistent that I could be when I wanted the answer to something. The elders handed me my copies of the papers. One set that would be locked here and the other set would go home with us to show to Percivus.
I looked at Maddie," Why would you not tell Percivus that Malcolm would soon be king?" I asked again. I watched her search her mind for the right answer. "Malcolm did not want his father to attempt to use it in some way to benefit himself so we kept that knowledge from him," She said. That was the truth, but the tell tell glances that had started again told me that there had to be be much more. "And?" I asked watching the two of them. I saw Madeline defenses drop and a tear rolled down her cheek, "My husband has been cheating on me for the last year. It is not something that I will tolerate from him." Maddie said.
I definitely was not expecting her to say that at all. "Are you sure Maddie? He is an asshole, but do you really think that he would stoop so low as to mate with someone else?" I asked her. I did not approve of a lot of what my brother did, but it was hard to believe that even he would sink that low. I saw the rage come across Maddie's face
" He hasn't touched me in over a year, and he makes a point on telling me everyday that he does not want to touch me. Every single night, I smell her smell all over him. I will not tell him about Malcolm because I am divorcing him as soon as Malcolm is mated.." She said and walked out the door. I was so shocked that I could not believe what I had just heard. Could my brother be that stupid?
