LEXI A faint knock on the door pulled me out of sleep, and just then, the hinges creaked. “Are you asleep?” Mrs. Lane’s soft voice floated into the room, and I sluggishly raised my head. “I was,” I mumbled, stretching my arms over my head while yawning, “but I’m awake now.” Sitting up, my eyes flickered to the clock on the wall to see that it was 6:30 p.m. Which meant I had been out for four hours.
