“Don’t forget who you belong to… whose property you are. You will wear my patch one day, little one. I’ll make sure of that.” he swore.

But I’d rather burn than belong to a man like Onyx.

**************

My father’s debt was supposed to cost him his life. Instead, it cost me mine. One night. One deal. And I was pulled into a world I was never meant to be in……motorcycles, blood, and men who looked at me like I already belonged to them. Then there’s him. Onyx. President of the Silver Blades… and my boss at Laurel Holdings, he is Ruthless. Untouchable. Dangerous and he doesn’t want me the way they do, he wants control.

The night I chose to pay my father’s debt, I didn’t just lose my freedom…I stepped straight into his world. Nine to five, I’m his secretary.Five to nine… I’m under his rules. In his house, working my debts. I’m not his. I’ll never be, but in a world where power decides everything…resisting a king might cost me more than I’m ready to lose especially when hate starts turning into something I can’t seem to control.

Debt to be paid
Lizzy’s POV “Lizzy!” I snapped out of my thoughts upon hearing my name. I looked to the side, and frowned when I saw Henrietta staring at me with a concerned expression. “Yeah?” I returned. “Are you good? I’ve been calling your name since forever.” The worry on her face deepened while I forced a smile at her. “I’m good. Just thinking of work, I guess,” I lied. I couldn’t see how telling my colleague who doubled as my girlfriend how trying to reach my father all day could be a good topic for a conversation. Nah, I wasn’t in the mood for counseling. “Work?” She made a face. “Girl, it’s closing hours. Stop thinking of work, and think of how hot and sexy you’d be getting tonight.” She winked, and I giggled. Right, I had a date with my bf. I clutched onto my bag as we walked towards the company’s garage. “Why were you calling my name earlier on?” I asked, trying to make small talk. “Um, about that…” she gave me a puppy smile. I groaned inwardly. “Not now,” I massaged my temple. “Lizzy…” she drawled with a pout. “What do you want?” I eyed her. “Can you drop this off at the boss’s house in my stead? Pretty please? I have a date, and I’m running late.” She clasped her hands. “I can’t.” I replied without hesitation. Aside from the fact that my mind was saddled with thoughts about my dad and boyfriend, I dreaded going to the boss’s house. I’d never been there, but according to rumors, it was creepy. “ How about a cup of coffee and lunch?” She added, beaming. My face softened into a smile. She surely knew how to get me. “ It's just along the way,” I accepted the file. “ I will drop it off and make sure you adhere to what you just said.” I squinted at her when she threw herself at me. “ Thank you so much, Lizzy. You are a lifesaver.” She shrieked before running off. A sigh left my lips as I texted my BF letting him know I would be running late before walking out. Sauntering down the pavement, I couldn't place a figure to how long I had been walking before I came to a stop right in front of a black gate. The gate creaked open when I held up the file, before I was ushered in. My steps echoed down the pristine marble floor, when a man who appeared to be in his late forties and had salt and pepper hair met me halfway. I showed him the file before he gestured for me to come in. “ Leave it on the table and I will take it in afterwards.” I nodded at his word, placing the file right on the table as he walked away. I stood, my eyes glancing through the house when I noticed the artworks adorning the wall, they screamed luxury and yet seemed to have been tempered with. Was that blood? I sighed, deciding to leave when muffled words rent the air, loud groans accompanied by pleas. My eyes flickered in the direction, chills running down my arm as I clenched my bag deciding to make my way out before I came to a stop. What was wrong with taking a glance? Curiosity never hurts. My legs glided across the marble tile to the garage behind the house, my heart sledged against its ribcage with each step I took as I made my way down the door which had been left ajar. It was dark. The smell of engine oil mingled with rust metals permeated the air, and the wall had strikes of oil stains on them with words which read; “SILVER BLADES, PROPERTY OF ONYX. TRESPASSERS END UP DEAD.” written boldly on the wall. My feet stumbled on a piece of metal and my whole body went cold as I stumbled forward, my legs giving way underneath me when pairs of eyes looked at me, my hands covered my mouth while my stomach pooled with dread. My boss stood underneath a bare bulb, in a black jacket with a patch which read ‘president,’ and a black jean to match, his eyes glowered with rage while he had a gun pointed at a man who knelt, his lips curled into a smirk when his eyes met mine. “ Are you lost, little one?” His tongue ran on his lips. I shook my head. “I….came….to drop the file and….” The words came out incoherently. “So you are lost,” he held the muzzle against the man's forehead when his housekeeper rushed in. “I am sorry, Sir.” He apologized. “I gave strict instructions which she obviously didn't adhere to, and was loitering around…” My boss held a finger up, stopping him from saying another word when he walked away. I panted, taking in puffs of breath, and I was so sure I was going to faint. I searched in my bag for my inhaler, when it dawned on me that it was nowhere to be found so I dragged in air, trying to breathe. “Do you know what I do to people who come into my garage?” My eyes swept across, taking glances at men dressed just like he was, tears streaming down my face. “ I swear…” I began. “I wouldn't say a word, I will resign and disappear, please don't kill me.” I begged Loud cackles filled the air. “I can do that…” his eyes darkened. “ But I am not one who forgives, now, what's your name?” “Elizabeth…” I managed to say. “ Lizzy?” A strained voice came from the man kneeling, one who gazed at me with strained lips. With my heart thundering, I whispered “Father?” “ Father?” My boss seemed intrigued as he questioned before nodding at one of his men. Rough hands held me, yanking me closer as they pushed me toward him. My knees fell on a puddle of engine oil which splashed right over him but he didn't seem to care as he beamed. “ This is your daughter, huh?” He crouched, fingers running on my jaw. My eyes strained, trying to see in the dark. “ Please….don't.” “ Don't what?” His face held a smile. “ Is she the one?” He turned to my father asking. “Answer me!” His voice bounced off against the wall. Father whimpered. “ Please let her go. She has nothing to do with this.” “ You owe us a debt and a debt has to be paid.” “ Please….” Father's voice broke. “ I will pay you. I will work my ass off but keep her out of this.” My chest tightened. “ We can have her as one of the sweet butts in the club,” one of the men offered. “Have her work around the club so she can pay the money he owes.” “What money?” I demanded. My boss's hands tightened around my jaw, while his eyes were hooked on mine. “Your father owes us money,” “ Lizzy,” Father began. “ Things got f****d up, but I have it under control.” A foot stomped on his back, pushing him face down into the puddle of engine oil. “Shut the hell up.” He snapped. “You are to talk only when spoken to.” “f****d up?” My voice broke. “You told me you were better, that you had everything under control, that I…” “ He relapsed.” My boss said, my eyes turned to my father who stared everywhere except at my face. “ Your father's job was to drop off drugs for us, but somehow he is unable to account for seventy grand, so do you have it stuck somewhere?” “You told me you were better!” I turned to my father. “ I don't care about no father or daughter s**t going on between you both,Elizabeth, do you have seventy grand to pay me?” “ No,” I answered. “Good,” he c****d the gun, fingers on the trigger aiming to shoot when I yelled. “ The house!” I said in a rush. “You can have the house, just let us go.” “ The house is gone, Elizabeth.” Father said amidst tears. The air fouled with his piss. I turned to him, in disbelief. “ You sold the one thing Mother left me?” “ I'm sorry, but….I had to do it. The debts kept raking up and I didn't want you knowing about it so…” I fumed. “ Where are the proceeds then?” “ I have a thousand left” I almost burst out into tears. A thousand against seventy thousand. “Enough!” My boss roared, his gun lifted again. I stared pathetically at Father who had his hands clenching his trousers when something snapped inside me as I let out. “ Take me instead.” My boss turned to me, placing his gun down with brows crossed. “ Take me instead,” I repeated. “ I will do whatever it takes…just don't kill him.”
