The Fated Alpha

* * * Andrew * * * As the beta of the rivermoon pack, it's my duty every night to do a perimeter run of the pack grounds to make sure our territory hasn't been trespassed by rogues. I left the pack house for the last time today and headed for the forest clearing. I stripped behind a tree and began to shift, trotting through the forest in search of any sign that another wolf had entered into our home. It's so quiet out here at night, so peaceful. I continue my run until, ''I smell blood'' my wolf Drew, growls. My ears pinned up as I stopped dead in my tracks, listening out for any sign of life. Suddenly, I heard a twig snap and ran in the direction of the noise. I pounced, only to stop myself mid air and land on my side in a painful thud. I leaped back up, ''It's a pup, I whispered to Drew''. Shock took over my mind. A tiny frail pup no more than 3 years old stood in front of my large wolf. Her huge eyes, the most noticeable feature. One a beautiful shade of emerald green containing gold flakes, the other a vibrant gold with green flakes. She was covered in blood but, from what I could see, none of it was hers. She was not afraid of me, not of the dark forest she found herself stumbling in. 'ours' my wolf purred, and I knew then that this lost little pup, alone in the world, would now be safe with us. i gently nudged her with my snout, lowered my head under her legs, hooked her onto my back. we walked slowly back to the tree. I shifted back and mind-linked Alpha Seamus to let him know of my discovery and that I was on my way to the pack house. I put on my clothes and picked up the small girl and headed back. Several omegas stood outside to inspect the danger i held in my arms before allowing me to take it inside. As I walked up the steps 'omg, Andrew', a familiar voice calls., my mate, Sophie, with our own pup in her arms, snatches the little girl from my grasp, immediately wrapping her in a warm embrace. Something I have always adored about my mate is her motherly instincts. ' Oh my, the poor little mite', our Luna gasps, rushing to aid my Sophie. 'come on, let's take her upstairs and get her cleaned up'. They disappear upstairs and i cant help but feel a need to follow them, to keep her safe, despite knowing that she is more than safe with my mate and Luna. 'Andrew' a stern voice sounded from the pack office. 'alpha', I crooked following through the open door. ' I need to know every detail, the elders are coming tomorrow to hear us out and I need to know what to tell them in order to keep the pup safe'. I take a heavy breath and tell my alpha and best friend everything I can.. once we are finished he notices my soft demeanor 'your not yourself andy. you seem, softer than normal' he laughs 'i don't know, i just feel kind of, responsible for her' i sigh. 'i can imagine, you did find a child covered in blood in the middle of the forest' he chuckles. 'i think Sophie has already convinced my mate to let her into rivermoon and for the two of you to adopt her' i laugh lowly 'i had a feeling she might try that' 'well something tells me you may not want to change her mind' he smiles. 'you know my wife alpha, when she gets her head set on something, good luck getting her out of it' i smile 'but seriously speaking, i saw something in that little pups eyes that set off a spark in me that i haven't felt since i looked into the eye of my own pup for the first time. i cant explain it, but i feel like im responsible for her, moon goddess wouldn't have put her in my path if she didn't want me to play some part in what happens to her'' ' I understand. Well, Talia and I both talked. Take your mate and both of your pups home and get some rest. Leave the elders to us. As far as we are concerned, we have a new pack member to celebrate'
