Rogues

Children started to scream and cry. They ran to their mothers and I saw Sam's and Lily's panicked eyes. They were sitting in the sandbox with shovels and buckets in their hands and looking around for what to do. Jones shouts at me to take the pups to safety and runs towards the pack house. I saw his eyes changing colors, so I knew he was talking to the Alpha through a mind link. I run to Sam and Lily and picked them up. Everything is on the move. I see people running and switching in midair to their wolves. Mothers are carrying their children to their homes.

"No! Follow me to the pack house, it's safer there!", I yelled to the mothers. They stopped immediately and changed their direction to the pack house. Kate is already at the main door helping people to get in. Sam and Lily are crying in my lap when I start running. I see fighting all around me. I see Jackson's wolf Daemon fighting with three rogues and Jones's wolf Koi with two. Daemon is ripping a rogue's head off with his teeth. The smell of blood is everywhere and it's pure chaos. I wondered how the h*ell there are so many rogues and why they are attacking like that.

I got to the main door and shoved the pups to Kate.

"Make sure that they get in the safe place!", I told her and Alissa came to the door. "Thank you, Al! Can you..?", she asks but I stop her. "Already going!", I wink and turn on my heels.

I know what she wanted me to do, but I didn't want her to have to make the request. If something happened to me, she would never forgive herself for making me risk my life. She is our Luna, so she makes sure that those who can not fight are safe, so she stays in the pack house. Our father built tunnels under our lands. My mother once told her that it's a custom in Finland to build tunnels under cities. Or maybe a tunnel is underrated. They are so huge that there could actually be another whole city under Helsinki. So Alissa takes the pups and elderly people there. Rogues could never find them, they would eventually get lost and get hunted down one by one.

I run through the market square. Bodies are everywhere. I get a glimpse and see our people and rogues, some without heads, some with stomachs cut open. A rogue sees me and runs after me. I don't want them to know where I'm going, so I decide to kill him first. I quickly let Kuura take control and my paws hit the pavement. I wait for the rogue to jump on me when I take a side step and jump on the back of him. He tries to bite me and shake me off, but I have a strong grip on his neck. I swiftly tear his neck open and with a whimper he falls to the ground dead. My head is covered by blood and I almost vomit because the smell is so terrible. Rogues smell rotten and their blood smells something like iron and dead meat. It's discusting.

"Al, you ok? Are you there yet?", I heard Jackson calling me through a mindlink.

"Yeah, all good, but I got a bit delayed, but that's gone now", I answered to him.

"Good, hurry up!".

Thanks for being so concerned, I huff and pick up the paste. I turned behind a corner after the museum. Yes, we have a museum about werewolves. Another suggestion my mother made and father built. And there it was. Our hospital.

"Diana, what's the situation?", I mind linked her.

"We have barricaded the front door, so use the employees' entrance and block it behind you. It's quiet now, but I have a feeling it is not going to last. Be careful there are at least four rogues around it".

I get to the right entrance and there were five rogues sniffing around. I couldn't fight them alone, so I mind linked Jones to come.

"I... I'm stuck here.. try... Henry..", he pants. Goddess, I hope they are safe. I'm about to ask Henry, but he arrives with four other wolves.

"I asked Diana about you, and she said that you are on your way. So I bought some backup", he tells me. I almost heard cheerfulness in his voice, but his face was serious. We attack the five snarling rogues and kill them off easily. There is no challenging four alpha warriors, Gamma and me. Human me might be small, but Kuura is big, quick and well-trained in our youth.

We get through the entrance and blocked it behind us. Diana comes and hugs Henry.

"Oh dear, you are covered in.. Is that a piece of intestine on you?", Diana says, and picks the part of something light pink and squishy away from Henry's shoulder. Henry kisses Diana's forehead with a smile and two other nurses give us some pairs of pants and t-shirts. We have ssen each other naked many times after shifting, so it doesn't bother me that much. But still it's more comfortable to be clothed. We dress up and head to the lobby where is an info desk and monitors for surveillance cameras.

"I have never seen so many rogues attacking us or any pack at the same time. What is happening here?", I asked Henry.

"All I know is that there has been attacks also on our neighbor packs this year. But there were around 20–30 rogues at most", Henry tells us. I stare at him. There must be at least 150 now murdering our pack members. Diana looks at Henry and asks: "what are you hiding? And do not lie to me, I'll know if you do". Henry looks at his warriors and then back at us.

"They are after the pups".

"THE WHAT!", Diana and I screamed at him.

"Why is this not informed! Why did Jackson let us go fishing yesterday? Does Alissa know?", I'm fuming at him.

"Alissa doesn't know. Jackson didn't want to worry about her because.. Because she is with a pup now. You know that they have been trying and have had some difficulties with it. Look, you were not alone there. There were two of my best men watching you all the time", Henry answers.

"But I didn't see or hear them?"

"That's why they are the best", Henry says, and turns to Diana with a pleading look. She just looks at him with a murder in her eyes and rolls her eyes.

"Now that we know, we need to move even faster. The maternity floor is on the fifth. We need to take all the mothers and the newborns to the tunnels. Right now!", she commanded the last two sentences to all around the hospital and nurses and doctors started to move as fast as they could.

The web of tunnels is really around our land and reaches to the pack's hospital. To get there you have to go to the cellar and find a specific door in there. There are corridors with dozens of doors, so it is not easy to find if you don't know where to look. Thank Goddess, father made me and Alissa memorize the whole labyrinth, so we know every entrance, exit and corner and could walk there blindfolded and get where we would need to go.

Suddenly, the lights went out, and it was pitch black for a few seconds. The emergency lights switched on and everything looked green.

"Fu*ck, we need to move faster", one of the warriors curses next to me.
