Chapter 14: Unresolved Rebecca wiped beach sand off her elbow and went back into her windup. She wasn’t sure how she felt about embracing Sydney Shieh’s weird habits, but when Nathan had dropped her off at her car, she hadn’t felt ready to drive home. Now the sun was setting, and she was doing the same thing she’d been doing while it rose. It felt oddly relaxing to practice her pitches, though she wasn’t sure if it was actually doing her any good. It did give her time to think. Also, when she sank into her body in a particular way, it cleared her mind of everything that worried her. Maybe she was toying with taking softball more seriously. Maybe she was still avoiding the texts that might be on her phone from Vikki or Megan or Emma. Her moms would worry if they didn’t hear from her soon
