Chapter 20: Soul, Will, Heart
Rebecca lined up for the last challenge of softball camp with her head hopelessly jumbled. She couldn’t think about her moms’ car. They hadn’t wanted to tell her how much the repair cost, but she could guess it was expensive. They’d put the camp on their credit card, and she’d heard them saying the card was maxed. She couldn’t stop worrying about if the car would get fixed or when and how her moms would get to work in the meantime.
Whenever she did get her thoughts away from that, images from the kiss with Sydney flooded her. What were they doing with each other? Whatever it was, it wasn’t just having fun. Sydney hadn’t seemed to understand how scary it all was.
