Ch 4. Draven

1300 Words
Draven entered his room and shut the door. For a good five minutes, he paced back and forth until he found himself leaning against his dresser. Pain and need flooded his body. His gums tingled as two long fangs broke through.  The dresser he was leaning on had a large mirror, a mirror that he was facing. A mirror that was also reflecting his bedroom door. Draven heard her coming up the stairs. In hailing he caught her scent, his body trembled.  He needed her, needed her body. Needed her blood. His eyes changed color, they were no longer the piercing blue they had been only a few moments ago. No. The eyes staring back at him were the eyes of his demon. Yellow irises intertwined with orange Pure lust, raw and dangerous. "Draven?...is everything okay?" Blaire was worried now. She continued to walk down the long hallway, she reached a close door. Reaching out slowly, she put her hand against the wooden panels. The door creaked open. "Draven?...im sorry to barge in, is everything O-" Blaire cut herself off with a small scream. The sound of her scream didn't surprise him. The image that was looking at her through the mirror would give any sane person the chills, or nightmares. "W-what...!" Blaire stumbled to even finish that sentence. She could feel her heart slamming against her chest, fear rolled through her body. "What are you!?" Blaire closed her eyes thinking she was having another nightmare. "1...2....3...its just a dream, another bad nightmare" She opened one eye at a time. The image in-front of her was unchanged. Draven turned to face her, how the hell was he going to explain this. His yellow eyes searched her features. She was terrified right now. "I'm sorry you had to see me like this" As he spoke, his fangs become more  visible. There was no hiding anymore. "To answer your questions, i'm the same person i was only moments ago. However im not human" Pausing between speaking gave him a few more seconds to gather the proper words, to try and explain to her that he wasn't going to harm her.  Blaire looked pale, she probably wasn't taking the news of this to well. The damage had been done, so he may as well continue with it. "I'm an Incubus, or Incubi as some cultures call us. We feed off blood to survive but can eat people food. were not like vampires however. We can go in the daylight, we have reflections as you can tell."  Draven closed his eyes and got himself under control. When he opened them, they were the beautiful piercing blue they had been. He rubbed the back of his neck, he wasn't finished explaining to her fully in detail. "When i'm fully exposed, i have a smaller set of fangs behind my larger pair. Black raven like wings will erupt from by back, so big that they trail behind me when i walk. I was born like this Blaire, I've known no different and have never told anyone. Until now" Blaire stood there like a deer in the headlights. Listening to every word, she didn't know what to do. Yes she was scared, but he hadn't hurt her yet. If he wanted to, he would have left her in the storm. Would he not? The more he explain the more her heart raced, she could feel the blood draining from her face. "So your not human, your a demon? you arn't a vampire but you drink blood?" Saying all this out loud made her feel crazy. However, she learned about the Incubus in her mythological study's in college 2 years ago. "Incubus....what i read...they feed off the human soul to...." Her throat felt dry, she tried to swallow. Draven tilted his head to the side, she heard about his species. No doubt as a legend. He shook his head "we don't feed off the soul...when injured or starved, we feed from energy through intercourse with a willing partner" He pinched the bridge of his nose, explaining all this was a lot harder then he thought it would be. "We feed off their pleasure" "S-so you cant just force someone?"  Blaire wrapped her arms around her torso, she felt light headed. Draven shook his head "No." Hearing that brought some relief. She wasn't sure if it was because he couldn't force her to do anything or that maybe he wasn't actually a monster. Before she knew what was happening, her vision blurred. Everything went black. "f**k" Draven was at her side just in time. He caught her in his arms before she could hit the ground. The stress of her nightmare, plus finding all this out must have taken its toll on her. Lifting her up, he carried her over to his bed. Draven wasn't just going to leave her on the cold floor, regardless if she hit it or not. He laid her down and covered her with a light blanket. Blaire looked so peaceful as she slept, he almost didn't want to wake her. Draven wasn't even  sure if he should wake her. Fuck it, ill let her sleep it off. He didn't leave the room however, he walked over to an arm chair he had in the corner and sat down. If one thing he knew was that the feeling in his gut wasn't from hunger, it was from something much stronger. Draven reached over the side of the chair and picked up a book off the floor.  Ancient Demonic Scriptures. The book was at least ten thousand pages. It was the history of his people. The humans would call it a bible, but it was much more then that. This book explained how his species stumbled upon the humans, it explained mates, wars, the whole nine yards. Flipping through the chapters, Draven stumbled upon "Soul Mates" He began to read: Soul Mates No one can predict when soulmates meet. It can be instant, or it can take years. Fate and destiny contribute to the romantic bliss and happiness where both partners become immersed in the intense connection. The relationship between soulmates has a certain magical and mystical feeling to it. The love is so intense that the chemistry is inexplicable and the s*x is mind-blowing. Destiny ensures these people find one another and allows them to have a fabulous relationship. Together they will grow as people and learn valuable lessons. A soulmate relationship is an orchestra being conducted by the universe. With your mate before you, you shed any masks that deny love. You will work together in balance and will strive for equality; while respecting one another’s contributions. Love is the center of everything you do, it harnesses the power within you to let your dreams manifest and become a reality. Some feel that their souls are connected to their mates, regardless of distance. Everything blends together harmoniously when your with your other half. Conversations flow seamlessly, you feel their touch when apart and their voice in your mind peacefully. A soul mate is  a reflection of yourself, someone that will hold your hand and walk with you through darkness. Soul mates make you proud and everything he/she does or says you find enlightening. A soul mate completes you. Soul mates are also marked. Every male of our species is born with a specific birth mark. Most of the time it resembles some sort of tribal tattoo and varies in size. The soul mates of these men have the exact same mark on her body, not necessarily in the same location.  Draven closed the book and closed his eyes. A lot of this made sense to why he needed her. Now the million dollar question. Did she carry his mark?
