22 The sky darkened then brightened, and all the while Brian fought frantically against the ropes binding his wrists. His ankle still stung. Pockets of memory remained missing. The sequence of events bent out of order. The more time passed, the more apparent it became that Ted wasn’t home, hadn’t been home, and didn’t give two shits about Brian. If Ted had cared even a little, he’d have changed the IV. But instead he’d let Brian fester in his own grime, forcing him to s**t and piss himself over and over. The spider’s web now covered the windowsill’s righthand corner and had already captured some tasty morsels to feast on later. How many morsels had Ted captured? What if this was all some crazy ruse and Ted and the bearded man were working together? Brian had considered the possibility
