Isabella Moore, a twenty-four-year-old orphan, dies in a car accident and wakes up inside the body of Evelyn Ashford Blackwood, the villainous wife in a romance novel she once read.

In the story, Evelyn is married to Adrian Blackwood, a cold billionaire who never loved her because his heart belonged to Serena Vale, the woman he had once hoped to marry. After years of jealousy, rejection, and bitter arguments, Evelyn's marriage collapses, and she eventually becomes entangled in a financial scandal that destroys her reputation.

Determined to escape the tragic ending she remembers, Isabella decides to change Evelyn's fate. She signs the divorce papers without begging Adrian to stay and begins rebuilding her life. But when suspicious financial transactions and a missing company ledger threaten to frame her for a crime she did not commit, she discovers that someone within the powerful Blackwood family is hiding a dangerous secret.

As Evelyn investigates, Adrian begins noticing the woman his wife is becoming. His distrust slowly turns into jealousy, attraction, and eventually love, especially when he realizes she is no longer desperate for his affection. However, Serena's return, family secrets, and the growing conspiracy threaten to destroy their fragile connection.

Evelyn must uncover the truth, protect her future, and decide whether the man who once broke her deserves a second chance.

The divorce papers
“Are you f*****g kidding me? Girl, have you completely lost your mind?” Isabella Moore glared at her phone, gripping the steering wheel with one hand as she read the latest chapter of the romance novel she'd been following for weeks. “This stupid female lead is driving me crazy! Why would you keep running back to a man who treats you like garbage? Don't you have any self-respect?” She shook her head, scrolling through the chapter. “Honestly, you deserve whatever happens to you. If I ever transmigrate into this ridiculous novel, I'll personally show you how a real woman behaves. No begging, no crying, and definitely no chasing a man who doesn't want you!” She laughed at her own declaration and glanced back at her phone. That was her mistake. A woman suddenly stepped onto the road ahead, her eyes fixed on the phone in her hand. “Hey! Watch where you're going!” Isabella slammed her foot on the brake, but the woman looked up too late. In a desperate attempt to avoid hitting her, Isabella swerved into the opposite lane. A horn blared. “Oh, s**t!” She yanked the steering wheel, but another vehicle came rushing toward her. CRASH! The impact was deafening. Glass shattered, metal crumpled, and her phone flew from her hand. Her body lurched forward as the world spun around her. “No… no…” She tried to move, but pain overwhelmed her. Her vision blurred, and darkness slowly swallowed everything. --- “Sign the papers, Evelyn.” The cold voice dragged Isabella out of the darkness. She frowned, her head throbbing. “Can you shut up for one minute?” she mumbled. Silence followed. Then the man spoke again. “What did you just say?” Isabella reluctantly opened her eyes. A crystal chandelier hung above her, while expensive furniture and cream-colored curtains filled the unfamiliar bedroom. “Where the hell am I?” “That's an interesting question, considering you're in your own bedroom.” She turned toward the voice. A tall man stood beside the bed, dressed in a perfectly tailored black suit. His dark hair was neatly styled, and his sharp gray eyes carried an unmistakably cold expression. Isabella froze. She knew that face. Adrian Blackwood. The billionaire husband from the novel she'd been reading. “No way!” She scrambled out of bed and hurried toward the full-length mirror. The reflection staring back at her was a beautiful woman with long dark-brown hair, delicate features, and expressive brown eyes. But she wasn't Isabella Moore. She touched her face, and the reflection did the same. “Oh, hell no! This can't be happening!” “Have you finally lost your mind?” Adrian's impatient voice made her turn around. Her thoughts raced. Evelyn Ashford Blackwood. She had transmigrated into the villainous wife from The Wife He Regretted Destroying. Evelyn was married to Adrian, a man who had never loved her because his heart belonged to Serena Vale, his first love and the woman he had always wished to marry. In the original story, Evelyn's jealousy and obsession would destroy her. She would lose her marriage, reputation, and eventually face a murder accusation. Isabella's stomach twisted. “Damn it! I was busy cursing the female lead, and now I've become the villainess?” “Are you going to keep staring at me?” Adrian interrupted. “Or can we finish this?” He picked up a document from the bedside table and extended it toward her. “Sign the divorce papers.” Isabella stared at the document. DIVORCE AGREEMENT. Of course. She remembered this scene. The original Evelyn had refused to accept the divorce, crying and begging Adrian to reconsider. But he had only grown to despise her more. “Did you hear me?” Adrian asked impatiently. “Sign them.” Isabella raised her eyes. “What happens if I refuse?” “My decision is final. Refusing to sign won't change anything. You'll only make this more unpleasant.” She studied his expression. He clearly expected tears, arguments, and another desperate attempt to keep him. Well, he was about to be disappointed. “Fine. I'll sign.” Adrian frowned. “What?” “You want a divorce, and I'm willing to give you one. What's so difficult to understand?” He stared at her suspiciously before placing the papers on the bed. “Sign here.” Isabella picked up the pen and signed her name. Evelyn Ashford Blackwood. “There. You have your divorce.” Adrian looked at the signature before returning his gaze to her. “You're not going to ask me to reconsider?” “No.” “Or demand anything?” Isabella almost laughed. “Why would I demand anything from a man who clearly doesn't want me?” For the first time, Adrian seemed momentarily speechless. “You've changed,” he remarked. “Maybe I have.” “Or perhaps this is another one of your attempts to get my attention.” Isabella rolled her eyes. “Believe whatever you want. I'm tired, and I'd like to leave.” “The documents will be finalized after they're processed. And don't expect me to solve your problems once you're no longer my wife.” “Trust me, I won't.” Adrian turned toward the door but stopped. “Evelyn, don't come crawling back when you realize what you've lost.” She gave him a faint smile. “Don't worry, Mr. Blackwood. I have no intention of crawling anywhere.” He left without another word. Isabella released a long breath. “Arrogant bastard.” She rubbed her forehead, trying to process her situation. She had died in an accident and somehow awakened inside a fictional character. Worse, she knew exactly how terrible Evelyn's future would be. But she wasn't going to repeat the original woman's mistakes. She would leave the mansion, discover what resources Evelyn possessed, and stay away from Adrian and Serena's relationship. She wasn't going to fight another woman for a man who didn't want her. “From now on, I'm living for myself.” She opened the wardrobe, selected a simple dress, and gathered her phone, identification cards, bank cards, and wallet. After changing, she stepped into the hallway, where a maid immediately approached her. “Mrs. Blackwood, would you like breakfast?” “No, thank you. I'm leaving. Please have my luggage brought downstairs.” The maid looked surprised but hurried away. Isabella descended the staircase and headed toward the entrance. However, she spotted Adrian standing nearby, speaking with another man. His eyes landed on her. “You're actually leaving?” “You told me to leave today. I'm simply following your instructions.” “I didn't expect you to rush out without considering the consequences.” “What consequences?” “Life won't be easy once you leave this family.” “Then I'll figure it out.” His expression hardened. “Don't come back expecting me to solve your problems.” Isabella adjusted her handbag. “Don't flatter yourself. You're not the only man in the world, Mr. Blackwood.” She walked past him toward the waiting car. But just as she was about to enter, a shout rang out. “Mrs. Blackwood! Get down!” She turned sharply. A dark figure rushed toward her from behind a parked vehicle. Before she could react, the driver grabbed her arm and pulled her away. A sharp crack shattered the morning silence. The car's window broke. Isabella screamed as the driver pushed her behind the vehicle. “Stay down, ma'am!” Security guards rushed toward the attacker, who quickly broke free and sprinted toward the gates. Two guards chased after the figure while another called for backup. “What the hell is happening?” Isabella gasped. Adrian hurried toward them. “Who was that?” “We don't know yet, sir. We're checking the security cameras.” He turned toward Isabella. “Did you see the person's face?” “No! They just rushed at me!” “Did they say anything?” “No!” Adrian glanced toward the gates. “Take her inside until we know what happened.” “No!” Isabella protested immediately. His eyes narrowed. “Someone just attacked you.” “I'm aware! But I'm not going back inside. I came here to leave, and I'm still leaving.” “Where exactly do you intend to go?” “Somewhere away from this mansion.” Adrian stared at her before turning toward the driver. “Take her somewhere secure. I'll have someone contact you when we know more.” Isabella hesitated before entering the car. She didn't trust Adrian, but she couldn't ignore what had just happened. As the vehicle pulled away, she glanced back at the mansion. She had barely been in this world for an hour, and someone already wanted her dead. Suddenly, a sharp electronic chime sounded inside her head. Ding! Isabella froze. A translucent blue screen appeared before her eyes. [SYSTEM ACTIVATED.] She stared at it. “What the hell is that?” More words appeared. [HOST IDENTITY CONFIRMED: EVELYN ASHFORD BLACKWOOD.] [SURVIVAL PROTOCOL INITIATED.] Before she could process the message, the screen flashed red. [DANGER ALERT!] [HOST'S LIFE IS IN IMMEDIATE DANGER.] Isabella's blood ran cold. Another message appeared. [WARNING: THE ATTACK YOU JUST EXPERIENCED WAS NOT AN ACCIDENT.] [AN UNKNOWN INDIVIDUAL HAS MARKED YOU AS A TARGET.] Her fingers tightened around her handbag. A final notification appeared. [FIRST SURVIVAL MISSION: IDENTIFY THE PERSON WHO WANTS YOU DEAD BEFORE THEY STRIKE AGAIN.] Isabella stared at the screen, her mouth going dry. She had thought signing the divorce papers would be her first step toward freedom. Instead, someone was already trying to ruin her new life. And she had no idea who to trust.
