LIVING IN LIES

It is Monday morning and Tina is getting prepared for her first day at sophomore year which she has been looking forward to come. She even woke up early living her mother in utter shock because normally her mother would have to push her out of the bed before she would manage to prepare for school but today was different. "Tina darling what woke you up so early today" Her mother asked while she was coming out of her room. "Nothing I just got so excited about today so I didn't sleep deep, besides mom I am a big girl so nothing to worry about" she replied her mother as she went to take her bath. After a while she came out from her room dressed in her well neatly ironed uniform-A white long sleeved tucked in her navy blue skirt which was a little above her knees with a navy blue striped white bow tie.She also wore a pair of shiny socks and black shoes, she packed her 16 inches brown hair neatly, in conclusion she was looking pretty. She sat down at the dinning to have breakfast while her elder brother who was entering grade 12 sat beside her as they had breakfast with their parents also sat opposite them. "Tyler as you know you are entering grade 12 and you would be preparing for your college entrance examinations so you have to be serious and focus on your studies" Their father advised him then turned to Tina. "And you Tina you also have to be focused don't let bad students have influence on you" "also you have to look after your junior sister as always remember she is now in the same campus with you unlike before. so you have to keep a close eye on her" their mother added. "ok mother I'll do as you say" he assured as he strikes Tina's forehead slightly. "I can look after myself"Tina boasted while eyeing her brother. "we'll see about that baby Tina"he teased her again. "Mom,Dad tell him not to call me a baby I'm no longer a baby"Tina protested. "Alright that's enough eat your food so we'll leave"their father instructed and they all ate quietly before leaving for school. On arriving at the school Tina was so excited that she had finally left the old campus and had now become a senior. Her brother notices her excitement and starts teasing her again; "Don't get too excited you are still a junior baby" "Are you kidding me Tyler how dare you call me a junior not only that you also called me a baby"she said feeling irritated. "Then add the too words together and you'll get ...."He whispered to her ears and walked away leaving her at the gate. "add the two words together?... junior.. baby. Did he call me a junior baby? oh no.... Tyler!! Tyler!!! I'm gonna kill you today" She screamed while running after him. When they got into the campus, Tyler offered to show Tina her class and on their way they came across Vivian- Tina's best friend and Dylan- Tyler's best friend who is also a cousin to Vivian. Tina and Vivian screamed and hugged each other beaming with smiles while Dylan and Tyler exchanged handshake. "alright I would leave you with Vivian since she already know the way"Tyler informed his sister. "I don't need you anyway you are so boring but thank goodness I found Vivian. See ya!!" She said as she grabbed Vivian's hand and ran away. "What class are you"Tina asked when they were almost reaching the grade 10 classes. "class 2, how about you" Vivian responded. Tina Immediately felt sad upon hearing what class her best friend was. "too bad we ain't in the same class. I'm in class 1"she announced " oh no!! why aren't we in the same class"Vivian said in an unhappy tone. "I don't know but don't worry we can still see each other during break, closing and in the morning" Tina said trying to cheer her friend up. "yeah you are right" Vivian replied and brightened up while they entered their respective classes. During the the first class which was physics Tina didn't find it difficult as she had read with her brother during the holiday. Their teacher praised her as she was the second best in their class and she took good advantage of her elder brother during the holidays. The first best student in their class- Jerry was somewhat a bully to others except from Tina and her friends. Teachers and students sometimes wonder how he became the top student. Tina made it her life goal to surpass him someday. In the class were 5 new students- 3 boys and 2 girls. The boys were Tony, Jayden and Maxwell while the girls were Quincy and Vera. Tina was able to get along well with Vera easily than Quincy who was rude and arrogant. Due to her character she got along well with Francisca and her crew while the 3 boys eventually became friends as they shared similar flair for sports. When it was closing Tina and Ivy rushed to Vivian's class. "How are you doing?"Ivy asked the tired and frustrated Vivian. Vivian looked obviously tired and frustrated that she didn't even bother to pack up her things instead she laid on her desk looking at blank space. "Do I look obviously ok to you guys?"She replied without looking at them. "Sure you don't" Tina said and chuckled. Just then Vera rushed towards them to hand over one of Tina's textbook which she had forgotten. " Hey Tina you forgot your...." She paused immediately she saw Vivian but she decided not to go further since Vivian hasn't recognized her yet instead she dropped the book on the desk and left. Tina on the other hand didn't suspect why she acted that way, she simply took it as if she was in a hurry. Ivy then helped Vivian pack her things and tried to cheer her up. "Today was so frustrating, I can't believe first day could be like this that's to say the remaining days aren't going to be any better" Vivian said as she got up reluctantly and followed her friends. "it's ok, you just have to get used to it" Tina said as she patted her back. "Physics, chemistry and English are the worse. I can cope with biology and the rest" Vivian continued to lament. " yeah yeah but I can manage with them"Ivy said to her. "I know that but do you think I can?" Vivian complained. "yeah you can all you need is for you to be focused" Tina advised her. "I guess I'll need you guys to be my tutor again this year after you've always been tutoring me" Vivian requested. "Fine we'll do it on the condition you...."Ivy agreed but her statement was completed by Vivian. "I would buy lunch for you guys for a week. Fine I'll do just that" she said as she rolled her eyes. "Great!!. Deal" Tina gave her thumbs up Just then Tyler and Dylan came towards them. "Hey Dylan" Vivian greeted her cousin. "How are you guys doing" Dylan asked. "Fine" The girls replied in Unison. Ivy then looked around for her brother but couldn't find him. "Em... you guys where is Fred?" She asked the boys. "Fred? ohh he said he wanted to stay back for evening studies" Tyler replied her. "Ugh." Vivian sighed and left after bidding them goodbye. Then the rest of them left their separate ways and as usual Tyler and his sister kept on teasing each other. After they got home their parents weren't home as usual. They claim to always be going on a trip and as a result they are always around twice in a year which they only spend one or two weeks. Tina being used to it never bothered to wonder why they were always on a trip since she had an annoying but lovely elder brother. When they finished with their dinner they both went to their separate rooms- Tyler went to do his homework while Tina went to write her daily diary. "Dear Diary; Today was my first day at sophomore and I enjoyed every bit even though I wasn't in the same class with Vivian. I felt annoyed to get to know that I would be classmate with the so called top student of a jerk- Jerry. Sometimes I wonder how he passes and became the top in the class but I have made it my life goal to be better than him which I know I would achieve one day. Also today I made a new friend named Vera she is kind of cool and also brilliant, I think I now have a competitor other than Ivy and Pedro. I also think the three new boys are also good but it was so surprising that they became friends in just a day anyway I wish them good luck in their friendship. Vivian asked for my help today in tutoring her again this year... sounds funny right, she always have difficulty in learning but I hope with my help and Ivy's she can pass. That's all for now.
