BY THE TIME THE MOVIE ended, they were both yawning.
“I’m turning in,” Lizzie announced. She stood and stretched, then grabbed the pizza box and headed toward the kitchen to put the leftovers in the fridge.
Donny followed with their empty glasses and set them in the sink. “Me too. I only got about two hours of sleep at the cabin. I could use some more.”
She kissed him on the cheek. “Thanks again for a great day. I had fun.”
“You’re welcome, Lizzie. I had fun too. Sleep well.”
She watched him head down the hall, then turned off the kitchen light. Lizzie moved to the front door to make sure it was locked before she powered down the television and shut off the living room lights on her way to bed.
