Chapter 1
She never fit in. At a very young age, Zara was totally different, she wasn't loud or wild like the other girls, not interested in make-up, gossip, or parties. Her silence unnerved her peers. At ST Florence Highschool New York she was a basic four student. Her teachers called her “too withdrawn,” due to her strange behaviour. She was silent, she made no friends, never interested in school things. People whispered behind her back. Her parents tried to change her, by pushing books and private tutors in fact music lessons. They did everything possible to mold her into the model child they wanted. But Zara didn't follow the mold. She never did. She saw the world through a different lens. She had a completely different view of the world at her age; she had the knowledge that couldn't be termed as normal. While others chased validation, Zara found comfort in solitude, in the calculated quiet of observation. She learned quickly, but not in the way the school system measured intelligence. She dissected body language. Memorized patterns. Predicted outcomes. She was strategic and deadly long before she held a weapon. And deep down, she knew school wasn’t where she belonged. At seventeen, she made a decision that split her life into two. She joined the Special Forces. Her parents called it betrayal and they felt disappointed in Zara. Before her father died he disowned her as his daughter. “You will only waste your life Zara.” He will always say. Zara’s friends abandoned her, ashamed of her wasted potential. But Zara wasn't moved. There was no sadness, no regret she was determined and focussed. For the first time, she felt aligned with something deeper and purpose. At first, the Special forces didn’t know what to do with her. She wasn’t the loud, brash type. She wasn’t aggressive or dominant. But she was calm, impossibly calm, even in chaos. And it was that unshakable poise that caught the attention of General Rourke, a man feared more than respected, known for breaking soldiers before building them; he was the leader of the Army. He watched her silently, as she dismantle obstacle courses, outmaneuver older cadets and funny enough she could disarm men twice her size. She didn’t win with brute force at all…. She won bravely with precision. Zara had a predator’s patience. She never back down on any slight opportunity to sharpen her combat skills. So, when the military launched a covert unit *AVES* Under the Joint Special Operations Command. They track and eliminate global threats, General Rourke made her the youngest squad leader in history. Zara was just 19. AVES operated in the shadows. No flags, No recognition. Their missions were surgical and secret. They attack in ambush, uncover traitors, eliminate threats and neutralize chaos before the country even knew it existed. The squad was built with hardened soldiers, snipers, infiltrators, and tech geniuses... Zara stood above them all. She became "The Sparrow" , a nickname that started as a joke. Small, quiet and unforgettable. But soon, her name carried weight across borders. When enemies heard whispers of Zara they ran. Because if she had you in her sights… It was already too late. For six years, Zara led AVES across continents storming bunkers, hunting down conspiracies that threatened national security. And each mission was a clean success, a bullet will not leave her sniper without a kill no matter the range or metres. She was feared and respected by all her fellow soldiers. But she didn’t stop there. At 25, amidst the chaos, Zara tried to chase something normal. She got married to a civilian with reasons for doing that despite the fact that she led handsome soldiers in her squad. William Blake came into her life, he was kind, grounded and intelligent. A civilian who once patched her bullet wound in a remote border town. Against all odds, he made her smile. And when their son was born, for a moment, Zara believed she could balance both lives, soldier and mother. Unfortunately, the balance she had expected was a nightmare. Missions bled into months. Missed birthdays. Silent dinners. Her husband waited… until he couldn’t anymore. Of course Zara made several promises she couldn't make up with, not only for her son William wasn't left out. Out of all people why won't I mention Zara's sister? And this is where she comes in. The only mistake our ambitious and professional sniper Zara made was to leave her single Cinderella sister in custody of Mr Williams to babysit their only son while she's away on missions. Not only that, Jessica Hart wasn't married.. She was the most beautiful woman in their family. Jessica agreed to sign a contract agreement to babysit Leo Blake on a nice cut of Zara's monthly wages. Zara paid into Jessica's account daily while she was away fighting for the country. But instead Jessica wasn't in her home to babysit Leo alone, she was servicing Williams with all styles she knew day and night on their matrimonial bed. He really enjoyed himself while Zara was busy chasing terrorists and getting wounded on the field. Mr Williams began to fall for Jessica out of the blue without Zara's knowledge. Soon the love that once held them together began to fray under the weight of secrecy and fear. It wasn’t just her absence and the secret affairs Williams was having with Jessica— it was the constant threat that followed her home. Zara had made too many enemies. After a close call an attempted break-in while her son was asleep upstairs Jessica persuaded Williams to make the hardest choice: He left with Jessica, the babysitter. But he didn’t take their son. He said in a note he left with Leo their innocent son who joyfully delivered it to mummy when she got back that night. “Your son needs you, and I have gone with someone that valued and needed me.” Fortunately she had placed a CCTV camera to monitor and keep the house safe, unknown to Williams, though she did it to protect her only son. Zara quickly flipped through her computer to see what goes on while she was away, hot tears dropped off her eyes, she gutted her teeth when she saw Jessica jumping and moaning on top of Williams. “How could you do this, Williams?” she whispered in tears. And just like that, Zara who had dismantled regimes and walked through fire… faced the one thing she couldn’t fight: being a mother, alone. As she struggled to raise her 5 year old Leo, she promised herself to find Williams, leave a bullet in his skull then deal with Jessica for the betrayal and pain she had caused.
