The Process

Jade throws a bag of skittles at Lily with a grin, as Lily fumbles to catch it. “Come on then, what do you want to know?”

Lily sits and ponders this for a moment, thousands of questions running through her head after what Jake has told her.

Lily thinks back to the things he had said before, deciding on what she needed to know first.

“Whats marking mean?”

A mischievous grin appears on Jades face.

“Well, well, well getting straight to the important things I see” she smirks, causing Lily to blush.

“You know about mates, right?” at this question, Lily nods in response.

“Well essentially when we meet our mates theres already a bond. When we become intimate this increases. It’s much more than just love, everything about the other draws you in. You become addicted, never wanting to be away from each other. Your emotions are heightened.

You worry, feel jealous, sadness when not with them.

It becomes almost unbearable to be apart from each other.” at this Jade takes a breath and rips open a bag of the sweets throwing a few in her mouth.

Lily looks at her, thoughtfully... before muttering “That doesn’t sound enjoyable, or good for you?!”

At this Jade c***s an eyebrow, finishing her mouthful of sweets.

“It’s hard to explain....basically when you find your mate...everything else becomes trivial. Every feeling is to push you both to finalise the mating process. This is where you both take it in turns to ‘mark’ each other by biting in a specific spot.

Usually this is done in the middle of s*x, as it heightens the feeling and supposedly feels amazing.

When you have both marked each other, the bond is complete. Both parts of the mated pair are linked together as one.

Your scent changes as it mixes with theirs, more so than just smelling of them when youve been with each other. This shows any mateless wolves you are taken.

You can feel each others emotions, talk to each other no matter how far apart.

But also whilst still needing each other a lot. The obsessiveness does calm down a lot once all the steps are completed. I’m guessing as there’s then less fear another wolf might come and take the other away.” she shrugs.

Lily looks at her a little startled...”does it not hurt?!”

Jade lets out a low chuckle. “Lily this is pretty grim to talk about as he is my brother. But when you’re being ‘close’ or even any other time. Have you noticed a particular spot that seems to drive you crazy” at this comment Jade looks at Lily with a knowing look on her face. Lily looks at her confused, then realises she had suddenly started unconsciously holding a particular spot on her neck by her shoulder.

A particular place that even just the thought of Jake touching it, kissing it and nibbling on it made her weak at the knees.

“Yes Lily, that spot!” Jade laughs out. “It’s so sensitive to your mates touch, because it's where the mark goes. The mark only makes it more sensitive, as it links you together more. From what I’ve been told, even if it does hurt a little when their teeth first cut into your skin. The pain is very quickly replaced with pleasure.”

A little taken aback by the mention of mates biting each other, it takes Lily a while to gather her thoughts. The rustling of a sweet wrapper brings her attention back to the present.

More questions pop into her head, but just as she opens her mouth to speak another, theres a loud bang that startles them both.

Heavy, purposeful footsteps stride to the room they are in.

Lily looks towards the door and sees a tense Jake pacing towards her. He is over to her in seconds, scooping her up quickly he burrows his face into her neck under her hair and sniffs. His body instantly relaxing in response.

“f**k I missed you Lily” he sighs. “I can’t bare being apart from you” at this Lily realises that even as a human she instantly felt better the second she was in Jakes arms.
