Alpha Maverick Blackthorn was standing behind a beautiful black automobile.His lips twisted into a cheeky smile, his brilliant blue eyes showed no pity.Towering over me with his normal imposing presence,he appeared quite at ease in his dark leather jacket. Maverick's estate was vast.He shoved the vehicle door open as we approached.He said,”Get out”, swallowing another sip of whiskey. I stood back, shaking legs,I rushed from the car.Nadira had left.She vanished, and for some reason,it bothered me.I never saw when she vanished. A voice murmured gently,”come with me Miss”. I started to turn.Under the shade of the great staircase stood a young man with raven black hair falling over his sharp ice-blue eyes.His lips curled in a little, informed smile. “I'm Lucas”;he said, introducing himself.The younger brother of Maverick is rebellious. He moved forward, observing me closely as though he were hunting. “WHERE'S THE ALPHA?”;,I questioned. Lucas sighed.Then he leaned forward , his warm breath caressing my ear. “busy…. wooing a new bird “. My tummy turned. “You're lying “;I said in whispers. Lucas adjusted his stance and erased his smile. "Nothing brother"; he says,"Only maintaining our guest company ". Maverick's eyes flicked between us,my ripped crop top and Lucas's naked chest.Then he sprang in a flash. Lucas squared in the jaw, and he gave him a forceful blow that sent him smashing against the wall. Lucas moaned and dabbed blood from his lip. He jeers,"jealous brother?". Maverick grabbed him by the throat and slammed him against the wall. "If you touch her again, I'll rip your damn throat out". Lucas started to chuckle but coughed."You hardly want her, do you?But the idea of someone else having her makes you miserable". Maverick hurled him across the hall and hissed.Lucas groaned as he slammed the door. Maverick gave the command,"Get out". One final time before departing,Lucas grinned at me and rubbed his wounded jaw . There was silence in the room.Maverick turned then to face me .He continued coldly,his blue eyes piercing through mine. He drank.Though his face was invisible.His stress was clear.steering closer,he continued,"You belong to me Selene.Never forget that". My breath stuttered.Then without further word,he turned and departed, slamming the door behind him. My heart thumping.I gazed at the closed door."what had I gotten myself into?". One thing was evident-this was just the beginning.
