Odessa
There was a look of curiosity on his face as I walked into the kitchen with him folowing close behind me. I headed to the fridge and grabbed a tub of vanilla greek yogurt and a thing of sliced strawberries. Not once did Holden's hazel eyes leave me. They watched my every movement as I fixed us both a bowl of yogurt and strawberries. I set a bowl down in front of him, as I dipped my own spoon into my bowl taking a bite.
My blue eyes darted over to look at Holden. He had finally started to eat his bowl of yogurt. Holden however, spoke before I could.
"So are you going to tell me what you wanted to talk to me about, Odessa. You said I might want to be sitting down when you told me." He said his hazel eyes still never left me.
There were a lot of things on my mind. So I just needed to decide what I wanted to start with. The Moon Goddess Selene came to mind first. I figured that was the best place to start. I wasn't completely sure he would believe me that I had spoken to her. It had been a long time since anyone in our pack had actually talked to Selene herself.
I cleared my throat and then pulled in a breath.
"When I woke up this evening, I had a lot on my mind, so I came down to my art studio to paint. Painting or drawing has always helped me clear my mind so I can think. I kept thinking about Maya and why she came through long enough to say our mate was close. Then she just vanished again and she won't answer me anymore." I said before continuing on.
"I started to think that maybe I was meant to be alone. When this voice suddenly spoke to me, but it wasn't Maya. it was The Moon Goddess, Selene. She told me that Maya would be here with me if she could. It turns out that the electro shock therapy that Dr. Collins did to us really hurt her. She had shielded me and took alot of it herself. So until she can heal completey I'm on my own until she can find her way back." I hadn't realized I was crying or that Holden had moved to the other side of the kitchen island. Until, I felt his thumbs on my cheeks wiping away my tears.
His eyes glowed golden and I realized that his wolf Derek had stepped forward to kissed my forehead.
"We will do whatever you and Maya need to help. We will keep you safe always. You complete us, we complete you." He pulled away from us and his beautiful golden eyes faded back to Holden's hazel one's.
"Is that what you've been wanting to tell me?" Holden asked as he lifted my chin to make my sapphire eyes to meet his eyes.
"Or is there more you need to tell me?" He said his eyes searching mine.
Inhaling a breath, I then exhaled. "There's more, two more things I need to tell you actually. It turns out Maya came forward the night of my sixteenth birthday. She was the reason I could run so fast and mask my scent." I said as I continued to watch Holden's reaction.
"That's amazing Odessa, I always wondered how you were able to run so fast not to mention hiding your scent. It took my father years to do that. I've just learned how to do it. my wolf is right we'll do what we can to help." Holden said as he continued to look at us.
"The Moon Goddess gave us an idea, if you mark me before we mate it might help Maya heal faster and come forward. Especially, since my heat cycle will be here soon." I whispered the last part of my statement.
"I'm sorry Odessa what was that last part you said?" Holden asked to clarify what I had just said
"I said my heat cycle will be here soon." I said in a slightly louder whisper.
"I'm sorry, what will be here soon?" I heard Holden asked again. But as I looked at him I realize that he is smiling at me.
"You heard what I said all along didn't you?" I asked as I narrowed my eyes at him.
The smile that he gave me, reached up and touched his eyes as he chuckled. I walked around the kitchen island to give his shoulder a shove before smacking his arm. My actions only made Holden laugh harder. Before he grabbed me around my waist and pulled me into his lap.
"Yes, I'm sorry werewolf, Alpha hearing. My senses have been heightened since the Alpha ceremony. It was wrong of me I know, but you looked so cute with your flushed cheeks. I'll have to admit I didn't expect the other thing you wanted to tell me to be that." Holden said as he brushed his nose into the crook of my neck.
I leaned into his touch slightly. The feeling of fireworks exploding all around me, was hard to ignore. Some how I managed it, I however knew I wouldn't be able to avoid it for long. Not with my heat only a few days away. It's funny though I should have another two weeks before my heat cycle. However, I could feel the signs. There was a tingling sensation down in front where my ovaries were. I could feel my temperature changing, some of it I'm sure was due to finding my mate.
I must have been quiet for too long because I felt Holden stroke my cheek.
"Hey, are you ok. I'm sorry if my teasing hurt your feelings. I should have just told you, that I heard you the first time." Holden said to me thinking he was the reason for my somber tone.
"No I'm fine, I'm just a little tired now. I'm not upset with you. Could we sleep on what I talked about and then see where we are in the morning?" I asked him as turned my head top lay on his shoulder.
"Of course, we can sleep if that's what you need." Holden said as he stood up from the stool with me in his arms.
I wanted to argue will him and tell him I needed to talk more and tell him all my burning fears. I wanted to mark him right now, so I could feel him but until Maya felt strong enough I couldn't. Since talking with the Moon Goddess I could feel Maya a little more. I wanted to tell him that I was afraid to become the packs Luna and afraid I'd lose the part I myself I fought so hard for. I was afraid I would lose the woman that loved the beauty in Photography and Painting.
I was so caught up in my on head. That we were up in my room, before I knew it with Holden laying me in the bed and wrapping himself around me. As he pulled the covers over us, I felt myself start to drift off to sleep.
Holden
It didn't take Odessa long to drift off to sleep last night. My wolf, Derek and I were aware that something else was bothering her. I didn't want to push her to tell me. She would tell me what it was when she was ready I just hope she didn't keep it to herself for too long.
She was still sleeping this morning, so I decided to go downstairs and see what I could make her for breakfast. The layout of her kitchen wasn't that different from the pack kitchen.
'Your going to make her breakfast?' Derek chided inside my head.
'Yes I can cook, and you know it.' I replied back to him.
'Do you even know what her favorite food is?' My wolf, Derek questioned me.
I had to admit I wasn't sure if she still liked them since she wasn't a little girl so I decided to up my chances by making one thing of Chocolate Chip Waffles and and thing of Blueberry Waffles one of them had to be right. I pulled a thing of bacon out and started to cook myself a few eggs along side everything else.
'You're going to do it aren't you? You're going to mark her before mating with her aren't you.' Derek said inside my head.
'So are you saying you are against it?' I asked him in return.
'We promised our mate that we would do what we could to help. I don't want her to get hurt, but if marking her could truly help Maya to heal I would be willing to do it.' Derek's tail was wagging as he said this.
'You know what I know, Helena Bradshaw was marked before she and Alpha Othello Henry mated. But it's unclear why, They had six children together, two were twins,Juliet and Fiona not much was written about the others. If the things about Helena's gifts are true the same could be true for Odessa. They haven't awoken because she and Maya haven't awaken and shifted as one.' I said to him.
'Something feels off, Holden I think we should do a little more digging.' Derek said one more time voices his opinion once more.
'Agreed, for right now let's just focus on Odessa herself.' I said to my wolf, just as the sweet lushes smell of Ginger blossoms, freesia and honeysuckle reached our nose. Our beatuiful mate was awake and on her way down stairs.
"Do I smell blueberry and chocolate chip waffles with a side of bacon?" Odessa said as she made her way into the kitchen.
She made her way over to me and kissed my cheek gently.
"Wow, you know your way to a girls heart. Now, if you just had whipped cream. I'd be in heaven right about now." Odessa said as she took in the spread of waffles and bacon I was carrying to the kitchen table.
"I wasn't sure which one was still your favorite, so I decided to make both just incase." I said as I smiled at her, goddess she was the most beautiful woman I had ever laid eyes on and she was made to complete me.
"Beautiful." I said as I watched her put a blueberry and chocolate chip waffle on her plate. I surprised her as I produced a can of creamy ready whip and covered the top of the one waffle.
"Oh my goddess, I've in heaven now." Odessa said grinning down at her breakfast as she dug into it.
"You have no idea." I mumbled never taking my eyes from her.
After a few moments she realized what I had just said. Her sapphire eyes turned to look at me.
"You weren't talking about breakfast were you?" She questioned us in that soft voice of hers.
My hazel eyes must have gone darker as I felt Derek push a little to the front as we answered her in a husky voice.
"Not in the least." Within seconds we has taken her lips to ours nipping them with our teeth. Her lips tasted of sweet cream, chocolate and blueberries.
The intensity of our kiss inceased when the sweet musky scent of her arousal, mix with her flowery one it was enough to send us over the edge. We were pleasantly surprised that our mate wasn't wearing any panties underneath her nightgown.
We were tempted to slip in and take her right here in her kitchen. But before we could act on it, the smell of smoke reached us.
's**t the eggs I was cooking are burning!' I cursed myself as I ran around the kitchen island to smother the fire out. Finding the baking soda I opened the container and threw it on the small fire.
"Well there goes my breakfast. I guess I owe you a frying pan too." I said in between coughs as I waved my hand in the air, before turning the fan on above the stove.
"I guess I distracted you to much." Odessa confessed as she watched us scrape the burned up egg into the trash.
I just shook my head at her as I spoke. "Nah, it wasn't just you. I should have remembered I had them on cooking. I was just thinking about something before you came down."
"Oh really, what were you thinking about?" Odessa asked us out of curiosity.
"We were thinking about what you asked us last night. About our mark being able to help your wolf, Maya. We are willing to try it, but if it becomes too much you have to tell us and we'll stop."
Once it was decided that we would try marking Odessa before mating with her. We sat down at the table to enjoy waffles and bacon with our mate.
