My Lost Wolf

Chapter 6: Lost and Alone

After giving herself a few minutes, Odessa started back down the mountain side toward home. By the time she made it home the sun was starting to rise in the sky. The second she walked through the door she heard her mother gasp before she rushed to her and wrapped her arms around her.

"Oh, sweetheart thank the goddess you're ok!" Edith NorthStar said as she hugged her. She then took in her daughter's appearance.

There was dried blood on her cheeks and arms.

"You're hurt there's blood on you!" Her mother cried.

"It's just a few scratches Mom. I'm fine really they're already healing." Odessa chided her mother.

"I really just want to go take a shower and figure out how to get through today somehow. Just tell Ethan and Dad not to worry anymore and not to crowd me ok. I just can't deal right now." Odessa said as she disappeared upstairs.

Turning on the shower, Odessa undressed as she waited for the water to warm up. Once it was ready Odessa stepped under the warm water. It felt good against her cold skin. After washing her hair and body. She wrapped a towel around her hair and then one around her body.

Odessa then padded out of the bathroom to her bedroom. She stopped at her door and looked at Ethan's bedroom door. It was strange to think that he hadn't lived here in over three years.

Once he had found his mate Wren. Their parents had agreed that the pack house was the best place for them to be.

She then continued on into her room. Removing the towel from her hair, Odessa worked on brushing out the tangles in her hair. Once it was brushed out and smooth. She continued to get dressed, simple black laced topped underwear with a matching bra. A pair of hunter green jeans and her tan ankle boots. She grabbed a cream knitted sweater out of her closet and slipped it on over her head. Sitting down at her vanity, Odessa brushed out her blonde hair some more. Before wrapping it up in a neat bun on top of her hair with different pins and clips.

Odessa's blue eyes looked over to her desk and landed on her sketchbook, and then sighed. It was just about time for her to talk to her parents about seeing if Alpha Ripley would give her permission to go to art school.

In the end she decided to see how today went before saying anything.

Grabbing her bag off her chair she headed downstairs and out the door.

"Bye, Mom see you after school."

For the most part Odessa made it through the school day without any incidences. Then again she and Kayley had the same classes during the day. She did her best to ignore the stares everybody was giving her.

Odessa was surprised when Owen Clark called out to her.

"Hey Odessa, can I walk you to class?" Owen asked her gently.

"You want to walk to class with me?" Odessa said a little surprised.

"We're both in sixth period Biology together, and you looked liked you could use another friend today." Owen confessed.

"Is it that obvious?" Odessa asked Owen.

He just shrugged his shoulders.

"Not really, I just noticed that Kayley Silverlight, has hardly left your side today. Then there was everything that happened last night." Owen said to Odessa.

Once they were at class, instead of sitting in the back like he usually did. Owen sat at one of the middle tables with Odessa.

At the end of class, Owen offered to walk her to her seventh period.

"I have to hurry to my History class. But I can meet you outside after classes are over."

Odessa just nodded her head at Owen.

"Ok, but you really don't have to do that. I'm sure I'll be fine. Kayley will be with me. Her brother Holden is picking us up today. I don't want to make you late getting home."

Owen shrugged his shoulders at first. "It's no problem really, but ok. Catch you tomorrow then?" Owen asked her.

"Yeah, sure that would be nice." Odessa said in return while twirling a stray piece of her hair around her finger. She waved good-bye to Owen as he waved back.

Odessa couldn't wait until the end of her last class. She did her best to focus on her studies. The second qthe bell rang she grabbed her books and bag and hurried out of the class room.

Odessa, tried to not draw attention to herself. She glanced around her, taking in all the stares from her classmates. Her eyes darted around her as she looked for Kayley, or even her brother, Holden in his silver Mercedes Benz.

"Come on Kayley where are you." Odessa whispered to herself.

Suddenly someone bumped into her from behind, causing her to stumble forward a little. Before someone's elbow caught her in the face as she fell forward. Someone grabbed her shoulder and shoved her to the ground.

Slightly dazed, Odessa's blue eyes looked up at who attacked her. Kyle Parker and Amy Hunt.

"Hey, what are you doing? Get off of her!" Owen yelled as he moved to help Odessa up. Only to have Kyle punch him in the gut several times. Jake and Clint Allen grabbed Owen by his arms holding him back.

"Stay out of this newbie. I was just starting to like you." Kyle said sneering at Owen.

Kyle stood and watched as Amy kicked Odessa in her left side several times. One of Amy's kicks hit Odessa in the face. Kyle bent down to whispered in Odessa's ear.

"Don't kid yourself NorthStar. No one wants a freak like you around. What good are you to the pack if your wolf won't let you shift." Kyle said harshly before kicking Odessa a few times himself. As he went to land one more blow to Odessa's crumpled form.

An angry roar sounded from behind him. Making Kyle drop to the ground and lower his head. His head snapped up as someone grabbed the front of his shirt. Slamming him against the brick wall.

"Who the hell do you think you are?! What gives you the right to hand out punishment! Are you from Alpha Blood? What about Beta blood do you have that power running through your veins?" The angry voice yelled.

"No, Alpha Holden. I don't have any of their blood in my veins." Kyle choked out as Holden pressed an arm to his throat.

Holden eyes glowed yellow gold as he growled out his next words.

"That's right, Parker you are the lowest of the low your family are Omegas. You just made things worst for them." Holden then released Kyle and he slumped to the ground.

"Odessa NorthStar is one of your sisters, your pack mate. Her family comes from Noble Beta blood. She deserves respect, not your ridicule and fist." Holden said as he turned toward all of the students and teachers who had gathered. His eyes still glowing yellow.

"Amy Hunter, you and Kyle Parker are to report to Alpha Ripley's office for punishment." Holden ordered as he lifted Odessa's battered body off the ground. His hazel eyes looked at Owen who had gotten away from Kyle's two lackeys, and had knelt down beside Odessa.

"You're Owen Clark, right? You just earned yourself a promotion in the ranks." Holden said as he continued to make his way to his car.

"Oh my goddess, Odessa who did this to you? I'll rip their hair out by the roots." Kayley shrieked as she took in her friends battered and bloodied body.

"It's been handled Kayley. We need to get her to the pack hospital." Holden said looking at his sister as he started to put Odessa in the back seat of his car.

Kayley climbed in next beside her resting Odessa's head on her lap.

"I'm so sorry Odessa that I didn't get here sooner. I had to ask my teacher about a project that is due soon." Kayley apologized to her best friend.

"It's not your fault Kayley. I don't blame you" Odessa wheezed out her reply.

Owen climbed into the passenger seat. He looked back at Kayley and Odessa as he buckled his seatbelt.

"You're different then other girls. Any other girl would be to worried about getting blood on their clothes." Owen said looking back towards the front.

"It's just pieces of fabric sewed together. The blood either comes out or it becomes a rag."

Kayley's brown eyes looked at he big brother as he drove away from the school.

"Holden, Dad wants to see you after he is done talking with the Hunters and the Parkers. He didn't sound very happy. Did you really have to use your Alpha voice?"Kayley asked her brother.

"I don't know, I hadn't planned on doing anything until they started kicking her." Holden gripped the steering tighter.

Odessa coughed in the back seat.

"I'm ok really, I'm already starting to heal a little." She confessed trying to lighten the mood even a little.

Odessa's father, mother and brother where outside the pack hospital when they arrived.

Holden's eyes met Beta Cliff's brown ones.

"I have things to help my father with at the pack house. Kayley and their friend Owen wants to stay if that's ok." Holden explained before leaving the Moonstone Pack Hospital. Pressing his foot on the gas Holden sped out of the exit.

Once Odessa had been admitted. Dr. Harken had come to see her, to bandage and wrap Odessa's ribs. Thankfully, none of her healing bones had to be rebroken. After she rested for awhile to heal completely. Dr.Harken had said she could go home in a few hours.

Odessa looked at her parents and brother before saying.

"We need to talk. I want to leave Moonstone Hollow, and go to art and photography school. I'll still be a part of the Moonstone pack. I just need Alpha Ripley's ok to go. I'll only be gone three maybe four years." Odessa informed her present family. Her mother and father shared a look before looking in her direction again.
