“Didn’t they tell you?” “Tell me what? And stop eating the damn chips while talking to me.” Luke crushed the chips more to annoy me and I threatened to end the call. There was no extra noise for the rest of the call. Luke cleared his throat, “The World Council resolution has passed.” “About humans not being a witness to our community?” “Yes, and now Dad wants to impose this resolution in the States as soon as he can.” I asked. “I don’t understand why Dad was always scared of humans. I mean, humans are weak and fragile they don’t have the strength to fight us.” Luke giggled. “That is the reason you should come to the community meetings.” I asked. “Why do you say that?” Luke kept giggling. “Because Dad is not frightened of humans, he is terrified of human nature. Dad is, in a nutshell, preventing our community from becoming a lab rat for all of mankind.” I had no words left to carry on our conversation. I had never thought about it and now I was thinking about it the night when my wolf was suppressing me in front of that stranger in his hotel room and Kai barging in and preventing anything from happening. I told Luke that I gotta go and ended the call. I looked outside and it was a day. I was confused because I never slept this long ever in my life. When Kai came back home it was around 7 p.m. and now it was 10 a.m. How could I sleep for 15 straight hours? I summoned strength in every cell of my body because I felt sore and my body felt like a ton of bricks. I couldn’t even sit properly due to Kai’s wild f**k. I touched my mark and it was genuinely hot like an iron rod and it was burning. Kai entered the room and I told him it was hurting like hell. Kai touched my mark and then my forehead. “You have a fever.” “Don’t move until I get back.” and then he disappeared. I fell back on my pillow and covered myself with a sheet. I closed my eyes because they felt heavy and I have no idea when I passed out. It felt like a moment for me but when I opened my eyes Alex and Kai were standing and doing something with the bed on which I was lying.. I felt something on my forehead I reached for it with my other hand and it was a damp cloth. Kai asked, “How are you feeling now?” I felt like thorns were in my throat. “Can I have a glass of water?” Kai looked at Alex and he nodded. “What happened to me?” I asked. Kai sighed, “Eli told me this might be a reaction to my mark because you were already a werewolf and I marked you so your wolf blood is reacting to my wolf mark.” “How long it will take?” Kai shot up his shoulders. “According to Anna, it will take another 24 hours for the effects to wear off.” Alex came in with a glass of water and Kai helped me to drink it. After I finished drinking I asked for more but Anna walked in and forbade me to drink a lot of water because I could throw up due to excessive water in my system.” Eli accompanied Anna and he turned to Kai, “A super annoying wolf guy and an unrecognized woman were standing outside the mansion.” I raised my hand. “It’s my mom and brother can you please let them see me?” Eli looked at Alex and he walked out. A few minutes later Mom and Luke entered. Both were shocked to see me in bed and asked. “What happened?” I told them. “Nothing to worry about, I’ll be fine tomorrow.” I looked at Kai to introduce him but he was frozen in place. “What is wrong Kai?” He didn’t answer. I looked at Mom and Luke to tell them that Kai was my boyfriend, but Mom had also frozen. Everyone in the basement was clueless as to why Kai and my mom had frozen at the sight of each other. CHAPTER 9 LYRA I went to meet my daughter at Kai Parker’s mansion. Jake had told me about his power and influence. It was quite impressive. A muscular and tattooed guy greeted us and led us to a basement to meet Valeria. Luke asked tons of questions, but he didn’t bother to answer them. The moment we entered the basement our eyes landed on Valeria. She was lying in bed. We rushed over to her and asked what happened. Then I noticed a guy standing next to Valeria who was ogling me. I got chills in my body but was unable to understand why. Despite my best efforts, I was unable to turn away. There was something in his face that jolted me like a loud bang in my head. The moment that tremendous bang blasted it opened a door in my mind and a torrent of memories streamed out, I let out a gasp, and everything appeared to be either dark or blank. It was an ordinary day in Eldaria; but not for us. We, the Fate Keepers, had been aware of this day for a considerable amount of time. There was no dark purple sky, and the sun's rays danced over our breathtaking Eldaria. The desert was golden and glittering, and the rivers were blue. There were towering mountains, bright landscapes tumbling waterfalls, lush forests, ancient ruins, skyscraper kingdoms, and mysterious kingdoms that created a sense of tranquility. On the other hand, beneath the calm outside an eruption of fate was brewing, and the only people who could see it were the Fate Keepers, the unseen guardians of fate. We had been aware of Zamorra's nefarious targets, as well as her cunning scheme to grab control of the Canine Forest and bring it under her complete control. Despite this, there was no means to communicate with the residents who lived in that old, densely forested kingdom. The castle of silence was known as the Canine Forest, and it was a kingdom that was deep, pitch black, and strange. They were introverted and secretive and never stepped out of their territory. Their royal family never stretched their kingdom beyond its borders. People in Eldaria referred to us as Highlanders because we lived in the towering mountains. We were known as the Fate Keepers. Because we had to stick to high locations, we were bound by sacred regulations. These laws prohibited us from communicating with people from outside our community or even with one another. It was our responsibility to keep an eye on things and maintain the balance of Eldaria, while also assisting its inhabitants and kingdoms.
