“Kai’s interested in whom?” We were all taken aback when we heard his voice. He stood in the basement his hands tucked in his pockets.

Anna showed the courage to respond. “Valeria is concerned about whether or not she will face any changes after you mark her.”

Kai looked at me, “You are already a shapeshifter why would you face any changes?”

I shot up my shoulders. “I don’t know. I am a shapeshifter, but I am completely different from you both. I also don’t have other powers that you and Eli possess, so there is a possibility of me being changed.”

Kai held out his hand. “We’ll see what might happen, now let Anna and the babies rest.”

“It was really nice meeting you all.”

I smiled at Anna. “After you rest and when you’re fully recovered, we’ll have a girls' night.”

Anna got excited. "I am so happy you’re here now, I forgot that I was a girl dealing with three butt-headed guys for the past thirty years."

Kai held my hand all the way to his side of the mansion. When we entered his side he stopped walking and pushed me towards him. I slammed against his rock-hard body. “What the f**k is wrong with you?”

Kai clenched his jaw. “I should ask you the same thing what the f**k is wrong with you?”

I squinted. “What do you mean by that?”

Kai flared his nostrils. “I heard what you were talking about.”

A gasp escaped my lips and my eyes got big. I stammered. “Wha….. what exactly did you hear?”

Kai exhaled in anger. “You think I am interested in someone else.”

I kept my hands on my waist. “Then you must have heard why I am doubting this?”

There was a pin-drop silence and after waiting for a few minutes I asked Kai again. “Tell me damn it, why on earth haven’t you marked me?”

Kai didn’t answer and instead, he came close and leaned down. His lips claimed my mouth, I tried to push him away but my weak shoves meant nothing to him. Kai immediately stripped out of his clothes. His tanned skin and muscular figure drew attention to every curve of his absolutely toned physique. There was a surge of feelings that caused my heart to beat more quickly, and I felt a fluttering sensation in my chest. I couldn't take my eyes off of him because of how his muscles flexed and rippled. I got a thrill when I saw him because he looked so rugged and handsome. I felt an almost magical pull dragging me toward him. My skin tingled with a heady mix of excitement and nerves.

Luke growled. “Stupid phone calls.”

I asked. “When are you and mom coming back?”

Luke was eating something crisp. “We are at the airport and mom just told me about Kai and you living together for a while. What is this s**t?”

I exhaled, “It’s a long story I will tell you once you are here, but I wonder what the emergency is for Dad, Elliot, and Emmett to come back and Mom had to go to Vienna to collect you. Why couldn’t they stay for a few more days?”
