Eli sighed and lowered his head, "I genuinely want to know what the hell is in this part of your head because I don't know how you run the damn business when you fail to notice where I spend my days and nights." Eli and I were always fighting, taunting, and making fun of each other, and this was the only thing that had remained consistent over time. "Anna is pregnant so it's pretty clear." Eli shook his head. "Kai you are already bruised and battered and even then you provoke me." I smirked. "I just answered the damn question you asked." Eli clenched his jaw, "I spent most of my time in a library reading books to learn more about our world and other worlds related to Eldaria. I read about transporting portals or any gateway that will take us to Eldaria." I asked quietly, "Did you find anything in all those years?" Eli kicked the shackles, "How could I find anything when a portal to other worlds is still a myth to half of the human race?" I waved my hand in dismissal, “Then get the f**k outta my basement before I punch you and Anna won’t recognize your face.” Eli walked over to me until we were face-to-face, “Make me.” I opened my mouth to rebuttal, but Anna’s voice echoed in the basement. “Stop it you two, and get your asses up here or I'll shift and devour you both! I'm starving and waiting for you." She must have watched us on the camera Eli had installed because he was so curious to see the demon in my wolf. Although our beast’s normal height is equal to coconut trees on Earth I know why he installed them and is still adamant about keeping it in place. Every full moon he sits in front of the screen. He cares for me though he never shows it and I do the same. “I think we should go now,” Eli said. We both nodded and rushed upstairs. Anna and Alex were already seated at the dining table. Anna looked at us with daggers in her eyes, “Seriously, when will you both grow up?” We pointed at each other and started to blame each other, “He started it.” Alex chuckled while eating, Anna looked at him and he raised his hands in surrender before resuming eating. We also sat and started eating. After breakfast, I rushed to my room to clean myself. After every full moon, it’s still difficult for me to hide my bruises and wounds. My phone buzzed, it was Rachel. “I need you to finalize this girl as today is my last day and I want to hand over my tasks so you won’t have any trouble after me.” I sighed and typed, “When is the interview?” Rachel replied instantly, “In an hour.” I typed, “I will be there,” and tossed my phone on my bed and went to shower. One hour later I was sitting in my office and Rachel called me on my extension, “Her name is Valeria Davis and she is coming right in.” “I told you, I trust your skills so there was absolutely no need to arrange this interview.” As soon as I put the phone down, there was a knock at my office, and I answered it. "Yeah, come in." When the door opened, I saw light and stars started to emanate from everywhere. The girl walked right into my office; it was the same curvy petite girl I had yelled at the day before. CHAPTER 2 VALERIA M y grip on the steering wheel tightened, wondering how I could never smell my best friend, Morgana, and my boyfriend, Lucien, had their scents all over each other. They successfully hid their shenanigans from me for all these years. They knew how to clean themselves well before coming to me. They had been deceiving me since school. The leather armchair felt cool and cozy on my fingers, but my mind was far away still wrapped in thoughts from two weeks ago. Since then, everyone seemed to be laughing at me for being so foolish. I had wanted to surprise Lucien that weekend so I left my office early and didn't inform him when I went to his place. We hadn’t spent any time together due to my recent overseas project. I had poured my heart and soul into the project because it was my first major break and I needed to prove my business acumen. I even bought burritos and his favorite wine. As I entered his home, the familiar comfort of his living space rushed over me. The soothing ambiance, the scent of my favorite candle, and the cozy furniture offered an escape from the chaos of the outside world. Lucien and I had bought everything for his home together. But something was different that evening. I noticed a warm glow coming from Lucien's bedroom. Curious, I followed the light and, to my surprise, heard Morgana giggle. "How can you be so sure Valeria will never find out about us?" she asked. "Babe we’ve both known her since school so leading her astray is not a big deal," I heard my boyfriend reply. I felt sick to my stomach and wanted to see how far they would go, so I peeked inside. The scent of their arousal riled up my werewolf. Let me come out. My werewolf grumbled and tried to gain power over me. You stay inside! Let me handle this. I told my werewolf. They deserve to be eaten, let me rip their hearts out. You are making it more difficult for me! Please, go and sleep for a while I told her with a heavy heart. Morgana was lying naked in his bed, and Lucien was about to go down on her. Tears welled up in my eyes, and I sobbed within, but I wanted to witness the betrayal of the two most important people in my life. As Lucien went down on her, Morgana's voice became heavy. "Oh, Lucien you are so wicked." Lucien spoke before sinking his face between her legs, "Only for you love, only for you." Morgana began to moan, and I had had enough. I opened the door wide and barged in. They Lucienboth jolted, "Valeria, what…..what are you doing here?" Lucien asked. I screamed at him, "Really? You really want me to answer that?" Lucien sat up abruptly, and Morgana wrapped herself in the sheets. "Valeria, it's not what you…" I raised my hand to silence her. "You both are spineless leeches with no courage. You couldn’t even tell me the truth." Morgana sighed and revealed her true colors. "Oh, Valeria, don't you know Lucien never loved you? He pitied you because you had never had a boyfriend." Lucien stood up and shouted, "Shut up Morgana." He tried to come near to me, but I spun around and rushed out of his room. If I stayed there for one more second my wolf would have come out and chopped their heads off. I stormed out of Lucien's house as he repeatedly called my name. BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEPPPP!!!! A police siren startled me back into reality. I looked in my rearview mirror where the flashing lights of a police car filled the reflection. "Dammit," I grumbled realizing I'd drifted into another lane. I pulled over and the patrol car followed immediately behind me.
