Chapter 1 "New Case"
“Another case, Cassie,” said Arnold, our Chief Detective. My name is Cassandra Marlue Casanova, and I'm a Detective Inspector here in a small ‘peaceful’ town called Richershell. I grab the file he handed me and read it out loud, “Marice Archela Mañurivey. Marice was found dead near the lake in Birwok Trail. A hiker found her dead with 4 bullets found on her lower and upper stomach. Marice had been missing for 5 days. She left for work on October 21st, and she was never seen again. She didn't come to work that day, meaning the murder happened before. "The door burst open, revealing the son of Chief Arnold. “Bondwicker’s team found two dead bodies just outside Richershell Town. It's Barcken and Lizzy,” said Warren. “Looks like Marice Archela blah blah blah isn't the only one murdered in this heck of a town,” I said and smirked. "Well, this heck of a town needs a professional detective,” he shot back. I just rolled my eyes. Fuck him! I've only been a detective for just one year, I thought to myself while glaring at him. “Give me the damn file that the conning journalist wrote,” said Chief, and I burst out laughing while Warren here is just leaning on the door waiting for what his father had to say about what he just reported. “I'll go check the crime scene. Detective Casanova, you're dismissed.” I smiled and walked out. But before I could walk past Offer Warren, he stopped me by pushing me back. “What's your problem, dude?” I glared. "Nothing,” he sighed. “You look disgusting.” I gave him a slap and walked away. I don't care if he was the chief’s son. He’s a Jerk, not to mention he's... Okay fine! Annoyingly handsome, my thoughts of him getting killed caused me to smile while walking. The next day. It is currently my day off when I received a call from an unknown number. As a detective, curiosity will always have me killed. I answered the call expecting a shady man to answer. "Casanova, meet me at windy peaks. Now.” Warren, I frowned and rolled my eyes. “Just say you want to go on a date with me," I teased, and I heard him gagged. “You're not my type, Casanova. It's work stuff. Get your ass here now,” he answered and ended the call. I cursed him in my mind. It was my freaking day off! I took a quick shower and wore a white fitted shirt and black blazer paired with brown wide-legged pants and black boots. I grabbed my things, keys, and glasses. Windy Peaks is a famous cafe. Students go there to study because it has a library in the corner. I reached the cafe and parked beside Warren’s car. I went inside and saw him reading a file. He’s a police detective and the best of all of them here in Richershell. Good for him. I sat down in front of him, and he didn't even glance at me for a second. “What do you want? ”I asked him, “I already ordered. Matcha right? ”He answered while reading the file he’s holding. “That's not what I meant, but you're correct. Why did you call me here? It's my day off, and you're ruining it. I was supposed to read, sleep, and relax." I was still talking when the waiter arrived and served us our coffee and food. Mozzarella sticks? Yummy! Why does this guy know what I like? Since childhood, cheese has always been my favourite. A lot of people disagree and say it was a disgusting obsession. “You are really noisy. You're already 22 years old, and you still act like a teenager,” he commented. “Well, what are you 40? ”I shot back, and he just looked at me and sighed and took a sip of his coffee. “6 murders,” he said. I looked at him with a confused look, and he rolled his eyes. “6 people have been murdered. The woman you’re about to look into, the two people I reported yesterday, and 3 people last night,” he explained. "Oh, Richershell Town is so peaceful," I stated. “f**k this,” he murmured. “f*****g investigate the case. My team needs your team,” he said, losing his patience. “Be serious for once. I don't know why you ever became a detective with that attitude. You won't survive another year in Richershell.” Ouch I moved here in Richershell Town when I graduated and became a detective. I've been living here in Richershell for 2 years with 1 year experience. "Okay, I'm sorry. I need the file,” I said, and he handed it to me. I was reading the file when he grabbed it and started talking. “Let's talk tomorrow,” he said and walked out. The heck?
