Chapter 2 "House Visit"

598 Words
It was the next day. I enjoyed the rest of my time yesterday reading a famous murder novel. Now it is back to reality and working on real murder cases. I went to the office when Jake, a police officer, called me and said that we have a meeting. “6 murders in one day," I repeat, “Casanova’s team and my son’s team will be the ones working on this case. It's a serious murder, everybody. I need your eyes and mind open. Anyone you see acting suspicious, report to me immediately.” Chief Arnold ended the meeting and dismissed everyone. Me and my team stayed along with Warren’s team. There are five members in my group: detective, police officer, journalist, computer specialist, and private investigator. Me as the detective, Davan as my police officer, Amethyst as my computer specialist, and Marco as my private investigator. In other words, the team’s special stalker. Warren's team is just a bunch of police officers who are going to guard the town. “My team will be everywhere searching and guarding Richershell,” Warren started, and I nodded. “Marco will investigate the victims bodies. Daven will go with you. Amy and I will visit the victims' relatives.” I ordered “Im a private investigator, not a doctor specialist," Marco commented. I glared at him, and he looked away. “Okay then.” Amy was driving while I was out of my mind thinking about how the victim's relatives would feel. We reached the apartment of Marice, where her boyfriend and parents are staying. I knocked on the door. “Anyone home? ”I asked. The door slightly opened, revealing a guy whose eyes are bloodshot red: “Im Detective Casanova. I'm working on Marice Archela Mañurivey’s case.” He opened the door. “Go in,” he said while looking at the floor. Inside, there was a couple. I believe this is Marice’s parents. “Aunt Nina, uncle Joe,” he called. The mom looked like she'd been crying the whole night or morning. The father looked tired. The boyfriend is a bit tipsy; I pity them. We sat down for a chat, and I placed a recorder in front of them. Everyone is a suspect in a murder case. “What happened before Marice went missing? ”They all looked at each other, and the mom started crying again. The boyfriend sighed and answered. “Me and Marice, we’re planning to move out, but Aunt Nina said no,” he said, looking at the old couple. “Marice had a fight with her mom, and she walked out because she’s late for work. That night, she didn't come home. I searched for her the next day but had no luck. After five days, they found her body and...” The guy started to break down. I'm so sorry, I thought to myself. I never experienced this kind of grief before. I feel sorry for them. I looked at Amythyst, who tapped my shoulder. “There's cameras around the house,” she whispered. I looked at the family and said, "Can I get the CCTV footage the day she went missing? Every clip. We need it," I said. Marice’s nodded “I still have to visit another client," I said. “A lot of people have been missing and murdered here in Richersheel," I added. “Marice is one of them,” the mom said and stood up and went to the kitchen. “Amy will stay here. She’s my computer expert.” Amy nodded and I left.
