Kate's POV
“What did you just say?” My father repeated when he didn't hear any words from me.
“You heard me right, father,” I muttered under my breath. I was sure he heard me clearly because the next minute he raised his hands to hit me, but at that point, a knock sounded at the door. All I wanted to do at that point was to hug whoever was at that door because he just saved me from my father's wrath.
“I'll be back for you,” He said through gritted teeth before walking away. I'm not even surprised that he didn't ask his precious daughter to go get the door. He never allows her to work.
I rolled my eyes before walking towards my room.
“How dare you talk back to your father?” My mother's voice sounded behind me as I walked away, but I didn't even turn to look back at her. S
