Chapter 9

1232 Words

I took after you. Kate's POV “We are here, ma'am!” I woke up to the sound of someone tapping my shoulders gently and I realized that it was the driver. I exhaled as I got out of the car. How long did I sleep? “Thanks so much,” I paid him his money and walked into the house. The maids never bowed when they saw me, but they did whenever they saw my younger sister. I won't blame them though. My parents have made me look so irrelevant in front of all the workers. I wasn't better than them. The only person who didn't make me feel less of myself in this house was Nanny Theresa, but she was late already. She died last year, two days before my nineteenth birthday. Those days when my parents would lock me up in the basement without food and water, she always managed to sneak some food for me.
