Kate's POV
“Thank you so much, moon goddess,” I sighed in relief. As quietly as I could, I made my way towards the back gate, grateful now than ever that it existed.
I have always wondered why we have that gate when we rarely used it, but now I am glad.
The cool night air hit me like a slap in the face, making me gasp, but I quickly closed my mouth, to muffle the sound, so my parents wouldn't hear me.
I took a deep breath, feeling the oxygen fill my lungs. As quietly as ever, I opened the gates and walked through.
I was finally free. I looked around and I realized that Annabelle was nowhere to be found. I called out for her, but there was no response.
