CHAPTER 1
The outing
Thaila Morgan knelt down against the cold basement scrubbing it vigorously so as to clean up the blood that has already dried on it. The more she was involved in the exercise, the fewer strands of hair escaped from the ponytail on her head, adding beauty to her pity state.
The blood was from the m******e that just happened a few minutes back, some men from the pack had dared to go against Kael’s command and immediately meet their doom.
In the nook and crannies of Bloodmoon, Kael’s word was power.
Just the mention of his name gets the job done at all times.
It is either she's done away with this chore and moves on to the next or her life would be ending too.
Tears crawled to her eyes, blurring her vision until she felt a sharp pain on her left hand resting against the bare floor.
"ahhhh" this time she yelped in pain as she tried to remove it from under the pressure it was.
Kael Coster added more strength to his feet, turning his long leg like he was actually killing an ant which made Thaila cry out in pain, attracting the attention of the maids walking around.
The scene made their breath itch but they dare not offer a word of concern if they don't want to be the next victim. Some indeed scoff at the victim, hiding the little smile on their faces in victory.
'Someone with no class or family doesn't deserve to be their Luna.'
"What have you been doing since, you wretched wife, can't I entrust a simple task to the soon to be Luna of the pack and get it done instantly? How then would you serve this pack if you can't handle a little task like this. Shouldn't you renounce your position as my mate and hand it over to capable hands?" Kael's voice rang through the air, cutting the ice and leaving an impact on its victim.
Looking up to the perfect image above her, he has changed from his casual wears from earlier into a black Italian suit which cleaves to his body but not too tight. If only his heart was as beautiful as his face. Then she wouldn't have to live in trepidation for the rest of her life.
"Sorry, the blood has already dried and wouldn't come off easily" Thaila responded in a low voice trembling from fear, fanning her hand which was boiling from being stomped on like the enemy's camp with her mouth.
“You are always full of excuses for your pathetic life. I regret the day I met you Thaila and I will make you pay darely for thinking you can ever be my mate" Kael spat on her before adjusting his black Italian suit with exuded authority to his imposing presence.
He couldn't explain this tight gut feeling that exploded through his heart each time he set his eyes on her. Her scent wasn't alluring at all, instead it made him want to rip her off and feed her flesh to the enemies' calm.
Cursing the moon was understatement the very day he found out that Thaila was his mate. A woman from no background, fame, beauty and intellect. She's the lowest of the park, this infuriates greatly anytime he sees her. It was as though he was paying for a crime he didn't know of.
The moon goddess really looked down on him in the aspect of his mate. He wasn't satisfied with her choice and can never be.
Thaila understood his mission so well that it broke her heart, she never asked to be joined to any one, it wasn't her fault that she was his mate and the would be Luna of the pack and she could read the handwriting on the wall so well that it left her helpless.
He wants her to reject him by herself so she could bear the full curse of the rejection and blame everything on her. He was willing to push her to her doom just to be with another woman that perfectly fit the picture and more importantly could represent the pack.
But she wouldn't succumb easily, she wouldn't be a victim of his fall and have everyone in the pack who were obvious of how he maltreated her still lay a curse on her for rejecting an Alpha like Kael.
"Alpha Kael, your bath is ready, just the way you like it, I'm afraid you would look five times older than your age if you don't relax your body in the bathtub immediately" Tina, a cunning and subtle lady in charge of Kael's bath said in a seductive tone, walking towards him with a smile plastered to her face like the most natural thing to ever exist.
Thaila lifted her head to watch them both and she could swear she saw the spark brewing between her husband and an ordinary maid. Her heart sank in disbelief as she saw Kael relaxed under the sound of her tiny voice.
Would Kael really go this low just to prove how much he despises her? She had done nothing but loved him unconditionally all these years before he was chosen as the Alpha of the pack and her mate.
"Get yourself ready and make sure to hide that bruise, we have an occasion to attend in the next thirty minutes" Kael instructed without looking at the woman he was talking to while he walked away with Tina.
Thaila quickly stood up from where she has been kneeling since but her leg gave way and she fell back really hard against the floor because she had been on her knees for over half an hour. She groaned in pain before the maids around ran to her aid, giving her the support she needed.
Even though Kael treated her trash no one in the pack dares to treat her the same way, afraid of incurring the wrath of the Alpha and being sacrificed to the enemies camp.
Thaila sat down quietly as the professionals attended to her makeup and style, dolling her face up with different colors but still failed to hide away the sadness in her brown eyes.
Having a beautiful face and the perfect body isn't enough to sway Kael's heart her way, not even for a fraction of a second. Maybe she would have seen her in a different light, wondering what it would feel like to be loved and held by him but such thoughts were too luxurious to wish for.
Kael entered the dressing room to take his wife as per the tradition that has been passed down for years, to always be the first to see the beauty of the to be Luna each time she finished dressing.
It was a difficult routine for him because he can never get accustomed to this same face that drives him to do bad things to her only. He believed it was her fault and that she was paying for an unknown crime she committed.
The maid pushed the door open so Kael could come in, he was dressed in a blue suit that complimented the color of his eyes, his breath was stuck in his lungs when he finally saw Thaila.
He saw her in a different light than the way it should be and it made his noise flared up in disgust as his eyes swept her body and rested on her chest before her voice broke the contact.
"Can we go now? I'm afraid we will be late if we don't start going now" Thaila spoke slowly, unsure of what to make of the blank expression of the man standing before him.
"You should have finished sooner if you know that instead of spending the whole day just to look like this" Kael snickered, stretching forth his hand to hold her which surprises everyone because he doesn't have to and he never did.
